I just used Opera to browse WC as a visitor to see how intrusive the ads are. I completely missed the google ads because they were so low key. I did not find any other ads on home page. Jafo, people who haven't subscribed probably won't care about ads. You know, FireFox with adblocker and script block will do a good job of getting rid those ads. Once someone told me that all sites should be free to access and should be supported by ads. I asked him "do you use popup and ad blockers?" and he said "of course" without blinking.

Nimbin, let me give an example of usefulness of a blog. When I was playing with Vista and XP dual boot, I had a few issues, I took notes and when I fixed everything, I posted the problem and resolution on my blog. Thanks Zoomba, I should try Mass Effect. RPG is a tough one for me. My xbox 360 gamercard is jamespaulp. Anyone want to share their gamercard? May be we can play online once a while. Zubaz, I have to thank my daughter and to some extent wife help me finish all the games, especially on hardest difficulty. They give me very good strategies. They don't play these games though.

I played the demo of AA. Like all UbiSoft games, I could not adjust to somewhat clumsy movements. Same reason I did not get any of the Ghost Recon games. I like to watch others playing that game. May be someday I will try to master that kind of games.

Zoomba, how are those 2 xbox 360 games? I also want to try UT3 on PS3. Today I tried playing Crysis pre release demo on an AlienWare PC that was being demoed on a Dell truck. That is when I realized I no longer can play on PC :SNIFF!:

People who do not want to pay (majority of people do not want to pay) will find way to get around trial periods. Advertisers really want to target people who spend money. If a site is completely free, they have no way of knowing who those are. But when you have paying and non paying customers, they know where their ads should go.

What game are you playing? in Community WinCustomize Forums

I just finished Call of Duty 4 on Veteran over the weekend (xbox 360). I have another 120 points remaining but some of them are darn difficult for me. I only got the game the on last Monday. I could not stop playing. It was that fun. Never before I had finished another game on the hardest difficulty within a week. I play mostly FPS games. I could never get the hang of other genres other than puzzles and a bit of racing. My library of games is like almost all Call of Duty game

I just have to say that I saw WC before I knew SD and its products. The content on this site is what inspired me to buy OD. Not just the merit of SD products. Can deviantART be that? I don't know. Not as it is today. I can't remember, but I am pretty sure I came across at least one story where a company failed because they closed a non revenue generating cost center that was behind generating the business for the rest of the company.

mitche323, if you constantly reformat and install, it may be a better idea to take a snapshot of the hard drive after you install OS and all your applications, activate OS and any application that needs activation and before start using the computer to go online. I used to do that. This saves a lot of time and activations. I used Norton Ghost, the only Norton product I would use. I think they changed the name from Ghost to something else recently.
