A personaly want carrier i really do even though right now i am fighting them. Why? Cause i personly think it wont work as most people are saying wiht out crippling the other ships or the AI. Ask your self these questions: 1)If carriers exsist as your saying would you use them to the point where your hardly building other ships? If so, your just replacing one aspect of the game with another, no more depth to it was added. 2)Will the AI be able to rea

The AI couldn't use beam weapons or research effectively unless it was told how to. I fail to see how this is an issue, as all you have to do is write a few lines of code, which, if this is in the expansion pack, would be done It wouldnt be a "few lines of code". Or if it was, you would end up having carriers with no ships swarming around you

Destroying the Tech Capital has not been possible. It might be in 1.2, but I have not checked. The same holds true for any Capital building, like the Manufacturing Capital. It is best to build them before taking over other planets just because of that. So far no "wounder" can be destroyed, that includes all capitals.

The only time that tiny ships would be useful is if your opponent is not using much defense, or for nearby to military starbases. Not true if you dont need to put engines and lifesupport. Its not hard to build a cheap ship that has as much attack as a large ship and abit less defence. Mind you defence is what costs money. 1 high

Carriers are the greatest idea I've heard for the game. I don't think they would be too unbalancing, since if you are not allowed to give the carriers weapons, their strength would entirely depend on the strength of the tiny ships inside. And if you do the math, 5 or 6 properly constructed tiny ships are roughly equal to a basic large or massive hull, so having a fleet of

its compleatly unbalnced... and the AI would never would be able ot use it effectivly. Just cause you dont know how to use tiny hulls doesnt make them useless. Thats like me bitching the large hulls are useles and wanting a super carrier to cary them around the map. If its a module that carrys 2-5 ships Then your really not doing anything there, you could just use a larger ship size and have 2-5 of them together doing the same thing If its a ship same thing

If you find 1.2b crashes too much to you, uninstall then upgrade to 1.11 again. If you don't see any problem with 1.2b, then just sit back and enjoy the extra features. dont need to uninstall. You can just install 1.11 over 1.2b by A) downloading the patch from here B) downloading it from SDC if you turn off "show pre-release versions"

I'm sorry to say, the game is getting a tad boring. Furthermore, after reading all the new patch bugs, I'm glad I didn't load it up. My version plays fine as is. I turned off tech trading and play on the highest level. It's just that i know the "exploits" now and it's hard not to pursue them. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make my game more challenging? Go to: C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2 Simply delete the x.raceconfig file. x being the name of the race you used (human, Earth Alliance or whatever) That's it! yes but that takes work. there is a much easier way in game. Select the humans. Then when you are customizing them, on

If you play a custom race with the mod. And you choose the all hull tech. I noticed that some small hulls had 10 hp while some other ones had 30 or even 40. Yet they all costed the same and had the same size available.

I find that I am not using tiny hulls very often. I'm also wanting to see some sort of carrier type vessel. So why not make some kind of military star base module to be put on ships? Have them benefit only the tiny hulls. This makes it more worthwhile to build the tiny ships by increasing their power and range. this has already been brought up

i got this problem when ever i loaded a saved game. My ship componets got placed in weired areas. The best thing is looking atht the computor ships after a load they look extra f-ed up.

Thats not a "critical bug". The term critical usualy refers to bugs that usualy end the program or stop your machine. I have my self experienced this bug but its not critical, just extremely annoying.

you there isnt much of difference between deleating the folder(s) (that includes the ones in "my documents" ) and uninstalling the game. The one big thing is your registry, most of ou wouldnt even notice a difference.

or how they already stated there going to have an expansion pack... but you still act as if they didnt... Reading is fun and it will make your smarter

well it depends if you have AGP or SLI express. AGP the best card you can get is the 6800GX geforce, there will be a sever price drop soon when the 8x series comes out for direct X 10. For SLI i am not compleatly sure for that price range... 100$ for a video card isnt very much

Yes, could we get a link? I'm reluctant to get download SDC, as the game itself does not yet work right for me and I don't want to add anything additional to the mix. I'd really like to play this game without my computer shutting down and hope the patch helps. its not a patch its a beta. If there is no link its a beta, which is buggy i

You also realize that turns aren't going to be instantaneous later in the game because the game has to render each ship movement, and the galaxy get's a little crowded a few years in. I'm running it with 512MB of ram and a 128 ATI Mobility Radeon and my late game turns are taking just as long as yours are. It's a sad fact for less than cutting edge computer users out there. But at least taking a step up in each category would let you play large and huge maps with max races without too much

Probably a random conflicting code between WMP and GalCiv. It can happen. Load the autosave and if it happens again...well then you're SOL.

Heh, the only problems I've had with the game are ones I've made myself. Like when I accidentally deleted the data/english folder, and the game just wouldn't run. Or the time I deleted the core ship designs and tried to start a new game without the stock colony and survey ship. Those were the days. Plus, it's not always the coding that can lead to these bugs. With such a large volume of file's being transfered from SDC, it's no suprise someone may get a corrupt file. It's always a good i
