I don't mean to scare you or be gruesome, but I am reminded of the incident on Fort Ord back in '96 or '97. A girl in her early teens disappeared off the street only a block or two from her house, right in the middle of base housing. If I remember correctly, witnesses saw her get in a car with some guys, and no one saw her alive again. There were massive searches of the base and the surrounding areas, but her body wasn't found till almost a year later.

Recently Greywar posted an article about the Time magazine article alleging the use of torture at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility. Link He wanted to point out that there has been no torture used there, and that it is inaccurate and ignorant to equate the practice of the guards and interrogators there w

You are not fat or ugly......you bought a dress from HONG KONG! Haven't you seen asian women? They are built like boys on top, so it's no wonder that even altering the dress didn't work...They probably didn't think you really had that much bust and sized it smaller! But hey, life happens and you live. I know you will look beautiful!

I have been in the army 9 years now, and I am here to tell you, I have had to work the occasional Sunday. I was raised in a church going family, and when I was a child my parents made it a point to set aside Sunday as a special day. We dressed up, went to Sunday school, and we most emphatically did NOT play outside. Our religion was one of the things that defined my c

The reason we're called the Black-Water Gargoyles is an intersting story. Maybe I'll tell it once we get seperated enough to where it would be too much trouble to round us all up again to answer for it as a group.

We had a platoon barbecue today to celebrate our time together in Iraq, and to say goodbye to one-another. The company is being deactivated and all of us reassigned to other companies in other brigades. Due to language training, PLDC classes starting, and various PCS and ETS dates, today was the last time our platoon could be all together at the same time and place. <

You certainly are an old-timer. Not going to stick it out, huh? I 'd think with you past the hump, you might as well go for twenty. Of course, you'd have to get promoted, wouldn't you...? I suppose it's for the better, you can get a job drinkining coffee and sitting on your ass in some govt job on Huachuca when you get back together with Estrogen Lass. It's good to see a success story, when military service prepares a soldier for transition to the civi

Today is the 14th of June, celebrated as the Army's birthday, because of the declaration signing the continental army into effect back in... I believe 1775. More to the point, it is also the 9th anniversary of my officially joining the army. I had been visiting the recruiters and working to get the job I wanted, but on this date 9 years ago, I actually signed on the l

Rightwinger, when I read your piece, I was reminded of the graduation speech given by Charleton Heston at one of the big Ivy League schools a few years ago. He spoke about how he was being vilified by the liberal press for being the president of the NRA, and outspoken about his conservative opinions on gay rights. He reminded everyone that he was active in the civil rights movement in the late 60's and early 70's, and that being an actor, had been work

I think the celebrity factor played some in his verdict. If Joe School Teacher or Mike the Soccer Coach or your local cub scout leader was doing this stuff, he'd be guilty of something. Just because Michael is wealthy and famous, he's "eccentric" rather than "predatory". Not guilty doesn't mean innocent, it just means the case wasn't proven to a jury beyond a reasonable doubt. Also, and this may be off topic, where do you find a jury of peers for a guy as unique as Michael Jackson?

My favorite Warner Bros character was always Speedy Gonzales. He had style and attitude, but in the early ninties when they remade the Warner cartoon stable with the tiny toons, there was no speedy clone. You had a duck, a pig, two rabbits, a coyote and a road runner, but no mexican mouse. I remember thinking at the time that Warner had gone PC, and had abandoned speedy because he presented a problem with the potential of the whole negative ethnic ster

I've been to a few military balls, dinings in, etc. It's fun to dress up in all the fruit salad, and like you said, my wife has enjoyed them too for the dressing up part. Next time I go to one, I'll be able to wear my CAV stetson and spurs. What fun.

I wonder if this is going to become a cultural thing. Couples in the future will base the strength of their relationship on how well their names mesh... Parents will give their children names with easily matchable syllables in the hopes of getting them good pairings later in life... stupider things have happened...

This is a little something I had left over from Iraq. I figure it's as good an article as any to get me started blogging again. I hope you enjoy it. What I’m about to write never happened. It’s fiction, a complete and utter fabrication. I’m writing it for my own entertainment, and yours. If anyone ever asks me about it, I won’t know what they’re talking abo

Just stick with it! Don't give in to the "Well, I'll let them get away with it this time" mentality. I have a friend who does that and it really messes with her kids minds when she does do it. They freak out because"we didn't think you would REALLY do it." If you say you are going to do it....do it!
