Thanks Zoomba... you said it better than I could. It isn't that we don't have minorities in the program. We do, just not many of them. I'm part of the outreach program, an Honors Ambassador, and we reach out to numbers, not people. In a way, it's pretty sad. Some kids with the high numbers don't make good Honors students while some with slightly-higher-than-average numbers make great Honors students. We don't actively recruit all that much because we are the fastest growing school

In the south, everything is a Coke... even if it is a Mt. Dew, Pepsi, or a root beer. That's about all I've got.
Ok. I'm glad people seem to agree with me, because there are some on campus who are angry at the Honors Program. I just don't see how lowering the standards helps anyone, but they complain that the standards aren't fair. Countering with, "Who said life is fair?" just seems to piss them off. Not that that stops me from saying it...
I used to hide the fantasy books... but now it's cool to be a nerd, so I can proudly display my geeky choices. I still refuse to read romance novels, however. I do have some standards. (I do, however, read the excerpts in the back of Cosmo...and then hide the Cosmo)
Very witty tales, SHE Thanks. Writing them can be addictive... of course, looking back, they don't all read as well as I thought they would.
3 months and a few days... of course, the last relationship was so full of drama, that I'm ok taking some time off. I don't do the "one night stand" thing, but I have been a friend with benefits. That worked pretty well for us, but only because we were able to keep emotion out of it. Neither of us was upset if the other had a date, or started a relationship. We just changed to friends and dropped the benefits. It was fun, but I really do
But don't tell him I said though! It'll blow my image! (LOL!) Your secret is safe with me... and everyone else who's reading this.
I am a member of the Honors College here at my campus. This is an unusual community: we don't simply take "honors" classes, as is typical of most honors colleges... we take specially designed classes first as a part of the Honors program, and then you present a paper to become a part of the Honors College for your Junior and Senior years. We do an undergraduate inte
Book trading? How does that work?
Speaking of family, SHE...how the hell is Mikey? I wasn't sure if anyone remembered that I am his sister. As for how he is... I actually haven't talked to him in a while. Last I saw of him was at Christmas. And I hear that his car is messed up -- brakes I think. Other than that? He'll have to get back on JU and tell that tale himself.
Some of it has to do with where they are and how long that place has been established or what future plans are for it. Fair assessment, I think. That's what I would have assumed... but then I assumed that there shouldn't be a problem with homosexuality in the army, so I didn't want to make an ass of myself twice.
Wow! You really do know tons! That is so cool. I wish I could have seen that special. Exciting, huh? Depends on your definition of exciting... Kinda helps to have your boss verify that you're out of town, don't it? Always nice when that happens. There have been times that I wish someone would have been
Green sugar cookies? YUM! Was the potato famine really the cause of Irish immigration?
Yes... my aunt glued a bow onto my cousin's head. When I say my cousin was bald... I mean bald. This was also a long time ago, when the headband bows weren't around. I don't know what kind of glue, and I don't know how she got it off. Yeah, I know. My family is crazy.
It's called reality. I'm still confused. (Maybe I'm brain dead today) Do different units have different utilities? I thought that everything in the army came standard. I'm not asking why soldiers have to shower together... I'm asking why some soldiers do and some don't. Is it because some are more stationary and others more mobile?
I did get a car bomb under my belt... I love Guinness and Baileys! But I'm very sad that my pub crawl didn't happen. I think I win the boring-ness contest. I don't know... I watched my friend make six book covers, and then watched strangers sand down a staircase. This is over 12 hours of watching people do boring stuff. Only the kittens were cute, which may put me over on the "boring meter", but in defense of my bad day, we only played with
I'm just hoping people aren't getting the idea that the troops live like sorority sisters, having panty pillow fights and showering together and chatting over a morning piss. They're not one big naked, synchronized pooping team. OMG! This is possibly the greatest paragraph ever. My cousin seems to share this opinion. He says he hasn't had any privacy issues so far. He's a fairly closed-minded individual, but says he hasn't had any problems w
Mason! Shame on you! Do you glue/velcro a bow to her head? My aunt used to do that because her daughter was bald and everyone thought she was a little boy.
You should. Of course, I'm of the opinion that everyone should read most fantasy books (there are some that are garbage) ... so it is possible that I am not to be trusted. I think, however, you could find it interesting.
Though I love seeing the wonderful pictures you post, I, too, miss your writing. You claim that you have nothing to write about, but that's silly. Your life experience is just as valuable (and sometimes more) as the next person's. After all, Alexander Pope said, "The proper study of mankind is man." Plus, I like to think I can learn from what others write. Like I've learned that scheduling babies is probably not best for them. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/ju/T_JU/smiles/Wink
I had great hopes for this St. Patrick's day. This was my first St. Patty's day legal and free. I'm over 21 and I didn't have to work. I was heading out of town to hang with friends. We were supposed to live it up. Hang out, have fun. We were going to pub crawl until our knees gave out. Unfortunately, most of this didn't happen. I watched my friend wor
I wish I had a prize for you, for Philip Pullman it is! His Dark Materials -- I would recommend it to you all.
Sorry San, try again!
The author's initials are P.P. The controversy about the movies: Some people were upset that the movie makers were going to leave the God character out.
Wrinkle in Time is incorrect. Willow, however, is correct.
