It would be funny if blogic meant it as a joke. Ironic that WhoIsLying made the whole thing up. Talk about strawman. Take a quote from an anonymous source and build an entire fake interview with someone else (the Prez). Even as a joke it is sick. All the stuff worthy of articles & he picks this. As much as I enjoy jousting with blogic, he's proven himself unworthy of serious consideration. I'm frankly getting very tired of wading

Almost ignored by the conservatives is (1) Bush was warned of this danger three years ago and (2) the UK was confronted by the same situation (obvously, at the same time) and handled it much better. Not ignored at all. Once again, who was responsible for reducing the number of suppliers ? What w

There is not one shred of evidence for a cause and effect relationship between Bush's policies and the incidence of abortion. Period. Stupid argument completely unsupported by facts. It is equally true that the orbit of Mars has been bringing it steadily closer to earth for the past 4 years. During those four years we've seen 52,000 more abortions than would have been expected for this closure of orbits. Cheers, Daiwa

It is true that there are very few, if any, viable alternatives to Halliburton. Can you imagine the brouhaha if we had waited for a competitive bidding process to start the rebuilding in Iraq? Kerry would be skewering Bush for the delay, of course. Cheers, Daiwa

Hate to burst your bubble, GX, but that was just a coincidence, had nothing to do with the flu shot. Flu shot season is also the fall cold season. You are correct about the vaccine being updated every year based on the CDC's best educated guess as to which viral strains are likely to be most prevalent, but it's just a guess and can be wrong, as it was last year. Words are insufficient to express my anger at people trying to hang the

I understand what you mean now. Good. In abortion, the unborn child is considered the victim. Therein lies the whole point of contention. And

Somehow you're not seeing that we agree that it should not be treated only as a "religious" matter. And passing a law against murder is not "forcing someone's religious belief" on society. There is necessarily a third party involved - the victim - and the law cares not what the religious beliefs of the victim were. If murder of unbelievers was a fundamental tenet of someone's religion, would it be OK to let them kill people so as not to infr

I agree funding is a legitimate issue for debate. And I agree that it would be perfectly appropriate for the government to stay out of funding abortions. They should remain legal and available, but there is no overriding benefit to society in federal or state funding, whereas there is a benefit to society in providing assistance to borne children. There is a similar situation with funding embryonic stem cell research. There is no prohibitio

Messy - Is it strictly a religious matter? Are there no pro-Lifers that aren't Christian? Agnostics and atheists generally would have no religious beliefs on which to bas

Sorry, Myrrander. This silliness just bugs me and I was perhaps a bit harsh with that. Nonetheless, Clinton was warned about Osama, too, so what do we conclude from that? Saying that "the administration was warned" 3 years ago is simplistic and tells me nothing. Vaccine programs and production are way to complicated & regulated to play this "hindsight is perfect" blame game. Cheers, Daiwa

Obviously I started to say something & accidentally hit the Post Comment button. It's this kind of demagoguery that just drives me nuts. I can't believe the 4 hurricanes in Florida haven't been blamed on Bush for having slashed the NOAA budget or having mismanaged it or some such silliness. This is desperation of the sickest kind. Cheers, Daiwa

You are so clueless, blogic. "Last" August was 2 months ago. Do you have any idea how flu vaccine is developed & manufactured? Do you have any clue what the lead times are in order to have a safe vaccine available by October? And the Bush administration had nothing to do with the fact that the U.S. had only two suppliers - you can thank your sainted Bill Clinton for that. Take this complete piece of shit and

You wish. *grin* The whole draft thing is classic strawman BS - ascribe non-existent intentions to someone then try to scare people with them. And T B is quite right - the only candidate talking about putting specific increased numbers of troops into the theater is the one pretending the other candidate will institute a draft (never mind that neither can institute a draft, only Congress). Kerry pulled the same crap with the n

QingJao - I was referring to adult women. The whole issue of the "age of majority" is an altogether different discussion. Nothing I said should be interpreted as believing a 1 year old isn't a person. Quite the contrary. And thanks for you kind comment. Cheers, Daiwa

Messy - Have we found that line yet? I don't think we have, which is my point. Reasonable people can disagree about where the line should be but as a society we still have to choose one. <TR

You sort of confirm one of my points, Messy. We've already largely reached consensus as a society that a child is a member of our society once it reaches the third trimester of gestation. That line of demarcation is as arbitrary as any, but is at least based on some common-sense & scientific notions. As medical science improves, the age of viability may well get pushed back earlier in gestation & our society will need to revisit the question

While we can all agree that "underhanded" tactics are to be condemned, but two trends seem to be developing since the final debate. Bush's campaign is becoming more upbeat and positive in tone, despite the alleged dirty tricks, staying largely on message. And Kerry's campaign seems to be becoming more stridently negative & critical, grasping at any headline of the day that might make the opponent sound bad, even quoting things that have never
