Been spending rather a lot of time in C4D these days working on modelling, lighting, texturing... One can only do so much in Photoshop... and I've been doing it.. a loooong time... or so it feels... So.....thought I would venture into 3D again for another WB.... Post work in PS. I'm thinking along the lines of an upscale, contemporary, plush apartment in a modern Metropolis. Stainless steel fixtures..mood lighting.. et cetera[e digicons]B)[/e] For Wind

The hardest thing about skinning WB, should I say the most frustrating thing is... colors... menus.. making everything match... I like to make the inside of start menu, match my other menus, buttonface, toolbars.. etc... If i make it dark... and I know.. everyone loves dark...including me, then Im painted into a corner.. so to speak.... Now of course, all of those elements don't need to match the inner start menu, i can just go with light grey... and

Hmmm.. no head biting here lol.... but.... honestly.. to me.. Wood is severely.. underdone. And 3D.. wood.. in a WB... never done. That said.. I agree, the wood itself, wasn't what I wanted it to be, oddly enough , I had done it in a rich, dark mahogany, (Syd saw it) looked fabulous, then after I had rendered it 1001 times...tweaking it... all of a sudden, on render 1002... the image,\file... was corrupt... go figure.. True defenselessness masked with reason may occur in the following text [e classic][/e] Weyull.... I dunno about passe, was trying to do something a bit more striking than lame 2D PS beveled wood...which is..passe. It is actually lit realistically, using High Dynamic range lighting...(C4D does the mathematical calculations, not me) and I think...really its the only way, to show any kind of 3D look while looking head on \ dead on at something. by ha

I'm ALL for modernizing, speeding up, more stability.... as long as we can skin it . If not.. set it on fire as far as I am concerned. Same reason I'm not going to use the same bedspread, carpet, curtains, furniture, clothes, shoes the rest of my life. People need.. visual change. MS would be wise to realize this and I surely hope Stardock is working on a full. . solution.
Wait till win32 and the whole current aero substructure gets phased out and see where you get with skinning. I'm afraid this is the death toll for SD.
I dunno, Neil Banfield is a pretty smart cookie... Sure would like to hear from him on all this though.
