Gideon - It sounds like you're up there with Corky_O with a full plate. In reading other posts, it's easy to see that you have strong feeling about OS's. Does Linux play well with PC's or is that even an issue? Boy, do I remember TRS-80's or Trash-80's as we used to called them. Talk about a closed end machine. I remember helping a friend at that time upgrade DOS and we had to get inside and rese

It's great that you are replying to the post, but I sure would like to hear more about how people are useing that wonderful box of technology call a computer in their daily life. No I'm writing a novel with this being the next chapter, but not a bad idea. Note to self, get started writing. Ha!

They did a pole several months back, granted not everyone who visits here answered. I believe of those responding, people in your age group were in the minority. If memory serves me (I am old and some times if fails) 30yrs and above were in the majority. I'm 58yrs young by the way.

Mine is always a work in progress. I rarely use the same exact skin for more than 15 minutes So we have some private gated compound within our community! Two replies the same = chance Four replies the same = Twlight Zone! I bet your four went to different High Schools together didn't you!

I'm not an expert by any means but how about this, if you have a lap top with wifi or have a friend that has one go to the house and see if they can get the signal. If you are that close to a transmission tower you should be able to get it. If you get a signal I would walk around inside the house to identify good and bad spots. I have DSL with a modem that has wifi, one desktop computer is hard wire and another desktop has a USB adapter and a lap top has a wireless card. Works fine, I

I'm not sure if I'm looking for the perfect desktop, but I do change Windowblinds much like you do. I think it has to do with how I'm feeling on any particular day. There are several ways to look at Premium Skins or Master Skins, you know they are two different typs of skin packages. I haven't down loaded any, but I tend to take the position that it's payment for all the free skins that the skinner has or will download to wincustomize. I'm not a skinner, and really don't want

I haven't posted alot here but when I do I try to keep it somewhat light hearted. Picture this. I wake up every morning with the sunrise, gather my thoughts and get ready to greet the day. I turn on my computer and once booted up it tells me that I have mail. If my automated updates are working I have to take care of them. Then I have to check other programs like antivirus, spyware, firewalls for updates (especially if I want to go online). All of this before I can even use the comp

I'm a nonskinner who has both Object Desktop and Wincustomize subscriptions. I got them because I liked what I saw in both the products, skins and support from the members when you need help. Po's actions is just what will keep me and others coming back here. Lets see a show of hands, who want's a Po'

cplair - Do you know how close you are to developing X-Ray vision! Three monitors, how about four. Since I already have a 37in LCD TV and a 17in LCD computer monitor hooked up, what should the other 2 monitors be? Let me see, maybe I want to hook up four LCD or DLP projectors, one for each wall. At least I won't have to worry about painting the room!!! I wonder how a panoramic wall paper would wo

I did a little more searching on the web after Excalpius reply and have decided to free up one of the PCI slots by taking out my Win TV card. If I really miss it I'll replace it with a USB version. Circuit City and Tiger Direct have a PCI version of the AGP graphics card that I now have installed for under $70(US), which is what I paid for the AGP card. That will allow me to go up to four monitors or more if I use splitter cables. YIPEE!!!! Maybe I should hold off the celebra

Excalpius - Now that's information that get's me a little excited! The card that I have in the system now is AGP with two VGA outputs. They make a similar card for PCI. From what you're saying I don't have to go into the BIOS that Windows XP takes care of that. Did I understand you correctly? If that is the case the price of the PCI card is a little less than the USB device, and I get the comfort o

I appreciate the replies from everyone, gave me a few things to look at. I'm still a bit away from making a decision though. What do you think about the USB devices as an option? There has to be a down side to using one of them.

Randahl - Looked at Ultramon, and correct me if I'm wrong, it looks like software for people not running XP to allow them control over a multiple monitor set up (I'm running XP Home). Since you also point out it doesn't play well with Windowblinds I not to sure I would want to try it. I am going to go back and visit the forums there to see if I can get a little smarter about mulitple monitors. Thanks for the reply. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Smile.gif" bord

Lantec - I used the splitter cable with the original video card that had only 1 vga and 1 s-video output. Worked okay but as you said didn't give me the expanded desktop. I may just do that again while trying to find a solution. Did you check out the USB devices? 511b - SLI doesn't seem to be as you point out an inexpensive way to go. If I was buying or building a new computer it might be another s

c242 - Thanks for the reply. If kol doesn't stop by I may have to contact him. Loki - Multiplicity is more like a KVM switch, controlling multiply computers with one keyboard and mouse. I'm only working with one computer. Two graphics cards would work except I have no available slots. Not familar with Sli cards, what slots do they use? <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Tongue.gif" bor

I hope I get some more replies to this post. I do want to run three monitors, for no other reason than just to be able to do it. I'm the type of person that doesn't take "it can't be done" as an answer. There is a simple way to solve the problem and I did it with the original graphics card, but that would make one of the three monitors a clone. That's not what I want to do this time. Expanding the
