Yep. The Desktop Magpie analogy is really applicable. The whole GUI fetish kind of reminds me of those religious books and cards where each day you open up a little cut-out window/door to see what's behind it. You go "ooohh pretty!". 'Course the real issue is trying to find the right balance between form and functionality. That's half the fun of it. That said, I love my interactive desktop.

I used to dev on Unix variants way, way back and thought it was the greatest thing. Thought CDE/Motif kicked Windows 3.1's butt graphically. Then I ended up doing dev on VMS. E-roz is right, VMS may have been boring but technically it was real sweet I finally ended dev'ing on Windows NT/2000 servers. And this has to be my favorite and I've never wanted to go back. I have the same problem. I'd like to use ObjectBar but at this point it seems more like it should be called XPBar So I'm patiently awaiting for my WinCustomize CD with the additional themes...
