In the upper right hand corner is a button, press it to have the yields displayed. Note that when you load a saved game it will become unselected and you have to press it again. - Manii Names
Thanks!
Q: When founding a city, does the grain/material values on the surrounding tiles matter? No, it has no impact whatsoever. Pick the spot with the best values. Don't worry overmuch about nearby special terrain items (shards, gold etc) as you can capture those through outposts, instead concentrate on getting the absolute best values you can for food and materials. I have seen starting locations wit
Stability and performance shouldn't really be in that poll. You have to attend to them, even if no one votes for them. Releasing something that even has a 1% crash rate will likely cause a PR nightmare. Same thing with performance, with a higher cutoff number. So, without those in the poll, I'd say city management next.
Agreed. I am surprised that
When you select a unit, their stats appear in the lower left corner. There you have buttons to Disband, Guard, Pass, Rename. If your unit can upgrade, there will also be a button there for upgrading (note you might have to click on a "More actions" to see the Upgrade button, or it might be chopped off and show as "Upgr.." There will be separate buttons for upgrade weapons and upgrade armor. Hovering over the button will
I have existing units and have researched new tech. The option to upgrade does not appear in their menu. I have tried selecting them in and out of a city. I even cleared the building/training queue to no avail. What am I missing?
In both beta versions I tend to spend A LOT of time just hitting the Next Turn button. Either to build a unit(s), in order to take the nearby baddies that make it impossible to create a new settlement until they are gone, or to get some needed building completed. Mostly the former.
Now you begin to understand what Steve Barcia had achieved so long ago and how hard it was. He did way more magic that could fit into a 320x200 display. Designers are still trying to copy those games and just FAIL.
Anyone would be thrilled to make a single game that spans the amount of time the Simtex group's did. Now imagine that times 3!
I don't want to mess around with the possible micromanagement headaches adding roads might have, but even some easy wins like auto-creating them from outposts to the nearest city and/or between cities seems good. The one downside is that enemies should also be able to take advantage of that, too.
As opposed to the micro management headaches we have now with the caravan system, that you can't even control.
I really wish I could find the images from the old UT2003/2004 "Give Us teh Demo" and "I am about to join them" threads. Those were CLASSIC!!!
I have to agree with Lord Xia on this one. We all saw what 'Design by comittee' did to WoM. The caravan system for example. It sounded like such a great idea before we got to see it in practise.
I would argue that quite a large bit of what was suggested (and there were some amazing suggestions) was NOT implemented into WOM. I would even go so far as to say that WOM may have been better if it had.
Have the Devs heard us on this?
I got mine at 12:16 PM CST.
Don't get your hopes up about anything to do with caravans, a store interface update or the dynasty system.
A lot of the backlash of MOO3 wasn't just that it had a rocky launch but because it was so different from MOO2. And while "Internet people" will remember WOM's launch problems, the vast bulk of units sold were sold long after its problems were resolved and have no idea that there was ever a problem at the launch. And so if those people, the people happy with WOM, would get ticked if FE were treated as a sequel to WOM becau
I assume we will be notified when the new Stardock Central is available?
The birds flying around on the strategic map are a nice touch. The water effects look pretty cool too!
Agreed. I was hoping that the beta would hold me over until I get Skyrim (X-mas), but that ship has sailed.
I would keep an eye on the Recent posts tab, Brad aka Frogboy will post anything regarding Fallen Enchantress and it will show up there.
That's my point though. Many times a statement will be made by Brad or someone and it will be buried in a thread whose title may or may not lead you to read it. I think any announcements should be stickied, e.g. the ones about SDC and the delay in the Beta. &n
Unfortunately it seems that oftentimes major announcements are buried in long threads and there is no main or stickied thread for said announcements. So where is the best place to look for updates on when SDC and the FE beta are scheduled to be released?
Will there be an update to Stardock Central prior to the beta's availability? The current page for it shows the following for supported OS/System requirements: Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/2003 30MB free drive space 256MB RAM
I was in Beta 1Z. I guess I will get it in the second phase. That's cool.
Concerning local versus global food: Why not allow the cities with surpluses of food to transport them to other cities, given these caveats: 1. A road must exist between the two cities and 2. The two cities must be under a tile limit distance, or else the food would spoil en route.

Are we at a stable release state yet or are all the updates bug fixes?
I won't continue to purchase from Impulse. As soon as Stardock makes my games and updates available somewhere else I'll uninstall Impulse and never look back. It can't happen soon enough for me.
My thoughts exactly!
