yeah... I did see that ess-vid, thanks I plan on finding a good host and using them from now on, so if I find a really nice one there really shouldn't be any reason to change. Now that I think about it, I will most likely buy in 1 year blocks though so I guess it comes out at $11.95 per month which is still excellent for what you get. They host on Linux 6.22 (1.8Ghz 2GB RAM minimum

Hiya people... I'm decided I want to upgrade my webspace over the next couple of months and get myself a real web hosting account. Besides increasing my webspace and bandwidth, I want to play around with PHP, MySQL, CGI etc... I have done a load of research lately and have come up with these 2 web hosting companies: - HostRocket.com (US Company) http://www.hostrocket.com - NetWeaver.com (UK Company) http://www.netweaver.com Both offer really grea

Most people here probably use either PhotoShop, 3D Studio or Bryce to create their wallpapers, or a combination of a few of them... If you want to get better at graphics and basically just making wallpapers and using Photoshop then you need to learn what tools are available to you and how to use them... The best way to do this is to look at some tutorials for Photoshop on the net, here are some great tutorial sites to check out: http://www.phong.com http://www.phot

Alexandrie: yeah, 5 comments is probably not enough to constitute an 'Elite' skin... however it is mainly the user rating that would count, and the fact that over 10 people voted it highly. ... you could have an amazing skin with great ratings and not many people have commented because it is just so perfect and people don't have much to say, therefore it would be a real shame that it didn't make it in because not enough people bothered to comment on it <img src="http://images.stardock.c

Just thought of another funky idea I know some people will have a problem with this, but I think it could work, and would be really cool if it did. This is how it works: If a skin gets over 5 comments AND has a user rating of 9 or 10 voted for by 10 or more people, then the skins becomes 'Elite' and is shown in a special section on the site, this can apply to any skin/wallpaper.<b

Here are some ideas for you: - Expand the Author Info section a little with some extra information like: # of skins you've rated, # of forum posts, submissions etc... - Move the authors submissions so they are shown in the profile like skinz.org used to do it and not on a separate page. - Have a Random link to take you to a random skin/wallpaper if your feeling lucky or adventurous <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/smile.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle"

BoXXi: just change the name to two ALT-0160 characters for the second icon and then 3,4,5 characters and so on... Of course you still need to get a utility to make the text background transparent...

thanks for the help everyone... After a couple of days messing around with the emulator, and the software that Plastic recommended I managed to get 'some' icon stuff working , but it's pretty much a losing battle unfortunately... I'm just gonna have to have a look around some icons sites and see if some kind Mac user would be willing to help me out ess-vid: thanks for the Mac info

adni18; I'm not actually using a Mac at all, I'm emulating one on the PC, but it can't do PowerPC applications unfortunately, and it's limited to a system 7.0.1 OS as well, which isn't great. Basically, the whole reason I'm doing this is because I have just finished a nice collection of icons I've been working on for the past month or so.. and I want to release them on my site in both PC and Mac form

Ok... I just spent the last 2 hours getting a Mac emulator up and running... only to find that 'Iconographer' is a PowerPC only application, and I can't emulate it... yet. Ahhh well, back to the drawing board.

Ess-vid, I understand about the file system differences, that's why I was so sceptical of it in the first place... Are you going to make your 'superior' editor available as freeware ess-vid? I would be very interested in Beta testing if you want

Thanks for the link Third Eye... but I am looking for PC to MAC conversion and not the other way around unfortunatly Ess-vid: Sure the resource forks could pose a problem, but you could always just save the file in Mac binary format (i.e. data fork and resource fork) and then transfer it to the Mac. - the way I understand it, this is how most PC2Mac file transfers take place anyway.
