Okay, the Problem at DA (with the IconFactory conversions) is sorted, and since the user was being so stubborn about it, he got what was coming to him. Fair enough. But c242 does have a very good point; most of the new XP icons coming out at the moment are nothing but MacOS-X conversions and rips. It's a sad fact but true, most people would rather just convert old work then actually get down and create something original and fresh. There's no way I have the time to che
Hell Dragon
Yepp... I've noticed the same problem over at DA. (as you know c242) http://www.deviantart.com/deviation.php?id=139656 Basically the guy there just did a mass conversion of Icon Factory's latest OS-X icons 'World of Aqua 3'. Now, I know for a fact that IconFactory _hate_ this sort of thing with a passion, since they like to control where they icons are downloaded, and even have their own site http://www.dotico.com for their conversions. They guy over at DA is
surely not.
Amazing... who would have thought they wouldn't have taken the chance to release XP and build the skinning in natively. I suppose they had their reasons... whatever they were
Icons: the lost art of pixel pushing.
So have you met JAFO, Transmutate?
My mistake Koasati, I thought Coolplayer played CD's too... hmmm...err.. sorry
Surrey, UK.
where did that 'like' come from? I don't like remember putting that like there... dude
Any skinnable CD player would have to contend with CoolPlayer... and I don't like fancy it's chances against it
But at the end of the day... they will be able to find it's location on the actual *server* and then link to that. Although, maybe something at the IIS (not ASP) level might sort that out, using a Referrer technique similar to above. hmmm... which winamp files Frogboy? I'll track it down those bandwidth bandits for you if I can.
Congratulations Paxx
I was actually talking to splasher splash, Splash! but, I've sent them to you as well now...
Ash Haldane: I'm pretty sure I know the site you are talking about... and I'm also pretty sure that it will never go down, ever. If it is the one I think it is the owners move the address of it every week and are extremely dedicating in keeping it up and running, it's pointless trying to stop warez sites one at a time. To be honest, I believe it will always be around as long as software is, or at least until something very radical is done to change the way software is bought, m
Tandis, then I'll crack your crack for $5 ... what a bargin!
Silverado Trucker: I think the $20 was originally for the Style Builder, and not for StyleXP.
those icons are C-Metal by DOT Studio... and I just sent them to you.
I have a left arm.
hmmm... I see what you mean. But if done correctly, the 'portal' doesn't have to link directly to the skin(s). So in order to download the user would still have to visit the respective site, and that site will still get it's hits/ad impressions, only using the portal for 'browsing' the latest submissions across the sites. One interesting idea, might be to link all of the front news pages together into one serious source for news. Or even link all of the message boards together thro
Yepp, things are looking good lately, with the return of Skinz, DeskMod and LOS the community seems to be growing healthily into something a little more positive, it sure will be interesting to see where we are a year from now. Personally, I think there should be more joint projects and integration between the major 6 skin sites... somehow I'm not sure, maybe it would be cool to get a portal linking all of them on some level, or an community-wide project or competition.
DeadDreamer: http://www.deaddreamer.com Endeffect: http://www.endeffect.com Are the first two that come to mind... if you want more, take a couple of links off from them, and I'm sure your bump into something that catches your eye.
I too believe in evolution very much along the lines of what Frogboy has mentioned... A lot of people are saying, well how could everything just fall into place so well? and aren't the odds for the exact conditions for life and evolution are just too great to be simply a coincidence? Well, if you think about it there are billions of billions of stars out there which may or may not have planets around them, and we are finding new planets all the time, so the odds are that at lea
Skinbase referred more than DA? Wow, that place is more popular than I thought... I'll have to check it out more often.
To be honest it doesn't bother me in the slightest if it stays or goes, really... I was just mentioning/reporting it because I remembered seeing it on my friend's bedroom wall only 2 days ago - a bit of a funny coincidence really
No problem... The Poster is called 'Success' and is actually part of a fairly well known series of inspirational posters.
