how about turn city level up bonus to city trait and just have a bunch more. like each time it levels up you get to choose another trait to add to the city. example: level one you choose wealthy which gives a 10 % gildar bonus. level two you might choose high alert which gives

i have played my share of strategy games and for me there is one rule that if kept in mind when designing them makes great games. and that is that every choice should be a difficult one. such as choosing between 2 upgrades but having the one that you didn't pick be closed off to you(unless you get rid of the one upgrade and then you can rechoose). i think these difficult choices make you form specific strategies. <span style="font-size: sm

i think what we have now is fine, it just needs alot of balancing. the only thing that i am not fond of is the tech that spawns resources. i really don't know where that came from to be honest. it wasn't in the beta and then poof, the final hit and there it was. this makes city placement irrelevant and also explodes your economy.

it really amazes me to watch you guys on here learn and mod the game. every incremental step, or new thing learned and passed around is like watching a child grow into maturity. i have zero experience with modding, but i do have some programming background. i am watching the mod sub forum intently, and i may try my hand at it after the game's new mechanics are finalized. i REALLY look forward to your DL mod raven, as i have countless DL

I think he needs to adopt a more serious attitude, I mean, many people have been treating him like garbage recently, and all he does is lock the forum. Just tell them, "Make your own f***ing game"! Brad's been way too lenient with the community, and thus the community has developed this ridiculous idea that they can insult and order him around. A more totalitarian approach is needed.

^^agreed... and in a read only state, the journals become just that - journals; collecting the developers thoughts, and sharing ideas and insights with the community...
yeah i can second that, and if we want to debate the journal we can bring it into the forum. the journals are on the main page, and is the first thing you see when you come onto the site. this way any nonuseful threads can be loc
Wow, after reading the comments on that dev journal, I think I just witnessed another bout of 'passion' leading to another 'mistake'. That thread read like a spoiled child threatening to hold his breath after being admonished by a frustrated parent. Any respect I had for the 'candor' displayed by SD recently was lost at the temper tantrum spurred by a very awesome post by Spyndel.
<s

its going to be hard to debate something deeply when the thread gets locked on page 2. i don't blame them for doing that when the thread gets hijacked and loses its focus. after that its pointless to go on. i just want people to stop ruining the threads.

all i want is to be able to move on, and help make this game great. i know that making a post like this is prob counter productive to the process. like if you ignore them, then they will go away sort of thing. but its stuff like that that's slowing the progress down. if the dev team is having a hard time keeping us in the loop, or prevented from doing that because of the people that can't control themselves then its going to be hard to s

i was just looking in the LOCKED dev journal titled "fun with A.I.". and brad just made a passing comment that he liked a show and thought it would be cool to capture the essence of said show. then people started to flame on him about it because they obviously knew EXACTLY what he was going to do. which is an entirely unreasonable assertion. now because of it he is going to stay clear of dev journals for a while. you know, i really enjoy

good read. i am ready to move on. i am getting tired of seeing the same hate threads pop up in the forums, so i will be glad when they are more moderated. i am ready to get down to the nitty gritty and get things done.

you guys are doing an excellent job. i can't wait for the AI updates. the fact that you are giving those of us who have stuck with you through this a FREE expansion(20 dollar value normally) just shows that you really value our loyalty. this makes me a very proud stardock customer. thanks again! a bit of advice: going to a global pool of mana is a HUGE gameplay change. this is so

you've made a good choice here. based on the beta, stardock can make alot of changes in a short amount of time, and i think alot of the problems will be fixed by the end of the month.
