why should it give you money? Also maybe the 1/3 chances should be checked first and if NO planets rebel then either don't mention the rebellion or force one planet to rebel. paul.

Sometimes a minor ship attacks me without any warning and I have to click through all the minors to figure out who's at war with me. This can be especially awkward when the ships look the same colour as another race on the minimap. Some way to quickly see on the minimap who is at war with you would be nice. If you could click a button below the map and it coloured the systems and ships according to relationship that would be excellent. Maybe 5 colours, allied, friendly, neutral, hostile
Why can't these be traded? Would be nice! Should be worth lots of value though, especially if sitting on a resource or heavily upgraded. Paul.
Cari, I think you've missed technician's point. Even with autobuild and governor you still have to click through each planet screen. They may have decided to build perfectly good items and you not have to change anything, but you still need to click through them! I would agree (as stated before) that something needs to be done to streamline the new turn info. As mentioned when a new turn starts you firstly get a GSN report listing everything built on which planets, you then ha
Cari, the governor screen needs information on the social projects and ships. You can go to the planet screen to see what they do, but a pop up window if you hold the cursor over a project or ship would be much easier. Paul.
Selling colony ships or transports sounds perfectly fine. It should affect your moral though. Selling those slave soldiers to another race for invasion! The AI just needs to be tweaked to take distance to potential obectives into account as well as any moral implications. A good race should never sell planets or people. An evil race might for the right cost. Paul.
Cari, I've never had a race offer me peace yet! Even when I'm had them surrender to other races but never offer peace. Paul.
Another balance issue is the AI's ability to detect a threat. The Ai sends it's ships after my fighting ships and often ignores the approaching transport. It needs to go for transports above all else if the planet can be captured, otherwise go for the military ships. Paul.
Strategy suggestions: - buy enemy colony ships early in the game especially if you see them moving towaards an empty planet. - send 1 construction ship to every resource you see as a priority. - Keep an eye on race relations and bribe potential enemies until you're ready to deal with them. This lets you spend nearly all your early to mid game resources on non military research and building, giving you a huge advantage. - keep a few loaded transports near any
One balance problem I have at the moment is the suicidal behaviour of the minors. They constantly seem to attack me when I can easily wipe them out. Why? It would be nice to see some relationship data with the minor races. As an aside, I had the Arcadians surrender to a minor race today. Very strange! (though nice). The minor then had 6 systems. This made it the second largest empire! Paul.
That explains my suicidal 0 points! I assume we can just change the prefs.ini file for now? Paul.
News Network also has a string not found +10%. Paul.
Fleets should move slightly below the speed of the slowest vessel. Brad what would happen if two fleets battle? Would it be one on one with the AI choosing which ship to attack each time, or would it be multiple ships attack multiple ships? What effect would this have on movement? I like the second option as it would be quicker, take less movement points, and allow a fleet of weaker ships to destroy some freighters without all being wiped out by a single avatar. I would see a
How about not allowing military conquered planets to count towards cultural influence? Would be a simple solution and could make sense. Other empires know which planets was taken by force and are never influenced by the culture from that planet, no matter what you build on it. Who wants to join an empire if the nearest planet was invaded???? That planet will not influence you to join. Planets conquered by culture or traded do count. This was you could expand in a certain regio
I think any victory condition needs to be optional and possibly settable. I agree with the comments expressed above that an 80% control of the sectors is very similar to a military style game anyway. What would the difference be? If the other empires were superior militarily then you would not culturally own 80% of the sectors. Would you? I would prefer the cultural victory conditions be related to cultural achievements / goals. This could be building the cultural galatic achi
Spacestations currently effect every planet in every system in the sector. This can be a huge bonus. Specialised colony ships would only effect a single planet and give a very specific resource (economic / research / military). Paul.
The suggestion of specialised colony ships at higher tech levels is interesting. It may also add some extra playability at mid to late game stage. Perhaps the following options: Mining colony ship: Builds a Mine on the world it is sent to. No population increase, no moral. Generates income or production. Perhaps it could create a free freighter from the mined world to your capital world (hence giving income). The value of the production/freighter depends on the planet being mined. <
Ideas for very rare occasional effects. - time warp. A worm hole turns into a time warp and the ship appears back at the same spot but with everything else being reset to the last autosave!!! - Fleet rebellion. A fraction of your fleet (could be quite large) revolts and either joins another civilization or turns to independent ships (pirates?) - Great Depression. Your civilization slips into a long recession (5-X years). Tax takings drop, moral drops. - Inter
Does that mean that there will be range related communication and management problems in GalCiv ;) Could be cool! Colonies more than X sectors from your capital have a higher chance to rebel. X increases with research. Paul.
Maybe a single evil deed is remembered more than all those good deeds? You only have to practice genocide once for everyone to hate you. Paul.
I would like the idea of linking population distribution with research techs. A tech which distributed unhappy populations to happier planets would be very nice. Perhaps a series of techs changing the rate/range of distribution. Another interesting related tech could be Population control: reduces the growth rate on unhappy planets (irrespective of planet qualtiy). This could even reduce populations over time until the moral increased. Different techs could keep the population
I guess the question is focussed on level of micromanagement. It is clear that SEIV contains much more detail and far more content than MOO2 (can't comment on MOO3 obviously). MOO2 however has the right balance between detail and playability which has made it very popular. Assuming MOO3 will be balanced like MOO2 (playability and fun versus detail and micromanagement) which type game would you prefer? Could be very improtant for Stardock. Do they implement ll these g
Jack, I've played both MOO2 and SEIV for a long time and find them very different. SEIV is much more heavily into micromanagement than MOO2 and contains much more detail. It is this huge amount of extra detail that usually sets it apart. Everything in MOO2 is in SEIV with so much more option wise. It also has a huge number of automation options and capabilities. I like both games but prefer MOO2. I like playing as the ruler of a civilisation and find SEIV just has too detail. In m
we're all so peaceful that we never expect to be attacked! paul.
I would also like a quick way to close the planet window without having to go through every planet. I trust my governors :) . As discussed in other threads some change is needed here. We have a news window, an event window and then a force you to go through every planet window. Perhaps make the force through all planets optional or, better yet, customisable (only planets without governors, planets with low moral, etc). Normally I look at the news window, spot any planets I'm interested in, hit
