Possibly add a number of technology advances for languages. The universal translater works for the major races as they are also advanced and adapt at trying to understand you. Lesser races would require a more advanced translater. I would even like the idea of seperate technology advances for the languages of each race. You meet the Yor and the Drengin. Do you research their languages to try to communicate and trade, or do you divert all resources into the battle cruiser? Needless to sa

Robert, try something like Starlords. A very old microsoft strategy game of space conquest / trading. The game was turn based on a galatic map. Battles in the game were 3D and you could use your joystick to play! Not a great game though, Paul.

looking very good. I like the disband option. Will there be an upgrade option to go with advancements in technology, or will this be automatic? It may be strategically interesting to have to pay for further upgrades (maybe seperate components such as engines, armour and weapons upgraded seperately). Then your enemy will never be sure how powerful your ships are, just the type and the data on any he can scan. Paul.

Cari I can take over a star system so long as it's not the last star system of that race. If it's the last star system then the game crashes. Cunak, if you put some of your tech point onto navigation you can increase ship speed by up to double. This will allow a transport to move 2 squares and thus capture a star system the same turn its defenders have been destroyed. Paul.

All other drengin.net games until 1 year after the official release of Galciv. This includes The Corporate Machine, Light Weight Ninja and Stella Frontier (and all updates until substription ends). You also get to take part in the beta. Paul.

Sounds interesting though maybe a bit complicated. How about having your 'nuke' ship but having the effect permananent until a terraforming ship arrives. A terraforming ship would be a single use ship (is destroyed in use like a transport or colony ship) which would add 5 quality to a planet. This would be a very useful ship. If further complication was required there could be different terraforming ships for different planet types or star types. A terraforming ship c

I disagree with most of the critisms made there. The galciv website won't win awards for graphics and display but is superb at functionality. It is certainly one of the easiest websites to navigate and get information from. All the information is in easy to access clicks and there is lots of info. Who needs anything else. While I don't agree with jlegere about the teaser movie I do agree with his sentiments that it does not generate interest in the game for me. I don't think it is aimed

The problem of occasional missing ship shields still exists. It may be related to when you have more than one ship built in a single turn. I have definitely seen the second ship fail to produce a shield around the planet it was at. Paul.

When a research complete event appears it needs to stop other events until you choose a new project. Alternatively add the research events to the GNN window. It is fairly annoying having the research screen appear for a second to be replaced by the GNN window. You then need to remember to return to the research window and choose the next project. Paul.

How many points are you suppossed to get at the start of the game to apply as tech bonus? I seem to get a number between 5 and 10. Is this correct or should it always be 10. The first time I play 4 points are already allocated and 1 remains. The next time I play the previous 5 are allocated and 5 points remain. Paul.

I have a recurring crash whenever I conquer a race. My transport takes the final planet of the alien race and then next turn crashes. Will try ot get a smart exception report on this one. It has happened in three games in a row. lots of 'ASSERT ERROR in file :\projects\galciv\source\gamescr.cpp at line 2358.' lines in the debug.err file. Paul.
