chichigirl46: What are one of the many alternatives that Stardock can do to support WinCustomize? I do agree that visitors of WinCustomize shouldn't be called leeches though, unless they're using pirated copies of the software or something.
I think it would be best to use 3D effects and graphics in an interface that's still 2D.
I agree with you RobbieRobb. I don't think many people understand that banner ads simply don't work anymore, which is why more and more sites are finding new ways to help pay for their sites, and the subscription model seems rather popular nowadays.
I also agree that Mozilla is a great browser and am also considering using it as the default browser, but I don't like the icon it uses on Windows. What about the icon with the face of that Godzilla-like thingy?

Well, from what I've read, the subscription is optional. Sure, Stardock sells programs, but the money received from Object Desktop goes to continue its development, and Stardock needs funds to support WinCustomize as banner ads lose value. I think it would be a good idea to give skinners a discount, or maybe have a monthly contest for a year's subscription. By the way, if subscribers will get unlimited downloads, does that mean that there's going to be a limit to the number of skins non-subsc
I believe the problem with including the cost of a subscription to WinCustomize with ObjectDesktop is that not everybody who purchases ObjectDesktop uses WinCustomize, and wouldn't enjoy paying an extra twenty dollars for something they don't use.
I don't know if you had the same problem I had, but perhaps you should reinstall WindowBlinds. That worked for me. If it doesn't work though, then uninstall it and see if the Appearance tab works then. Perhaps it's something other than WindowBlinds.

As an occasional Linux user, I used to keep an eye on the skinning sites for Linux. My biggest problem with them has always been the lack of content. Sure, there are many themes and skins for the different GUIs, but they're usually either ports or minor variations of ports. As for Linux becoming mainstream, I feel that those developing for Linux should work together instead against each other (i.e. GNOME versus KDE) and dump obsolete software(i.e. XFree86) for something that will make people
I agree with grayhaze. Apple is very innovative to create a design that is envied by almost everybody in the entire universe. I support them in protecting their design as much as I'd support an artist from here stopping somebody from ripping their skins without their permission.
I believe that the reason that sites like WinCustomize.org are against piracy is because it is filled with artists who create much original work and therefore understand the value of the work of others. In my experience, sites that simply consist of imitations and rips, such as skinning sites for another operating system, tend to support piracy since they lack the creativity and ability to create original high quality work.
The dialog bitmap would also be used on the Explorer toolbar. It turned out to be the Explorer Synchronizer that made Explorer use the dialog bitmap. Try running Explorer Synchronizer Interactive Mode, selecting "Clear any Explorer toolbar," and click OK. You should also make sure it doesn't run on startup.

I don't feel it's that bad since what they're releasing is only going to be used to verify their claim, which if Microsoft is being honest when saying IE is necessary for Windows, will help their argument. It's not like the themes makes a program harder to use. The widgets and menus work exactly the same and appear in the same places, even if they do look different. Isn't that what matters? Besides, as JayG said, websites don't follow a standard in interface either, yet that doesn't seem to bother many people. Perhaps we should go back to the days of gray backgrounds with black text.
ObjectBar is great. My only problem is that it doesn't show if menu items are checked or not. This will be fixed eventually, right? Except for that, I love it!
That also happened to me when trying some themes with DesktopX. I'm using a different one now, and the window appears again. I think it's a problem with certain DesktopX themes.
