Hi all - Apologies, we ran into some Steam config issues on the new expansion pack. I hope to have it worked out with Valve tomorrow. In the meantime, please enjoy the version 1.6 update.
I've also stumbled upon a couple more issues of a different nature. The Scenario Editor and Tech Tree Editor can't find the TechTree.xml (and racial tech trees in case of the SE). The Map Editor displays graphic-corruption when started, doesn't do anything when trying to edit a new map (or complains that it's not possible), and immediately crashes when trying to load an existing map. Lastly, the Debug.err reports that the

The file is part of the Visual C++ redistributable that should have been installed on first-run. If you go to where Steam installed the game, look in the _CommonRedist directory and run all the installers: DXSETUP.exe vcredist_x64.exe (for both 2010 and 2012) vcredist_x86.exe (for both 2010 and 2012)
So that pic of the Fury is the actual unit in game with a high-resolution texture? I'll ask for more unit renders of that quality, especially of the aircraft for both sides, I like aircraft. Cheers.
No. That's from a cinematic we're working on. We could have that quality in-game if we only had 10 units on-screen at a time. :P

Essentially, prior to when the events in the game start, humans sent out probes through the galaxy to discover planets and prepare them for eventual use (hence why there are Power/Computronium Generators and various resource mines already laid out). This all happened before the split between the Substrate and PHC, so both factions have the data on where these worlds are.

A few quick responses: re: FoW - This is something we've discussed a bit internally already, but haven't made any final decisions on. What I'd like to see is the 2-layer FoW for single-player scenarios and the single stage for multiplayer (so that you don't waste time just finding out the layout). re: Map Editor - We haven't even unofficially released this; some of you just got inspired and unlocked it on your own. :P It's definitely not ready for

Greetings everyone! We're back from the July 4th holiday and have a new build of Ashes for you to try. This update has two new features: Crash reporting: Crashes will now be automagically reported to us. Multiplayer Matchmaking Improvement: Multiplayer now validates that players are using the same version of the game. Those using different versions won't even show up in the player lobby now - should help prevent sync issues. <
