Couple things you can try that come to mind: Easiest is to flush config Steam by doing this: Exit Steam client, then Win+R (opens Run dialog); type: steam://flushconfig This will ask you to confirm that you want to reset Steam's data, say yes (you will need to re-login to Steam and redo any Steam client settings, special beta branches, etc.). Recently, Ironclad Games and Stardock released version 1.9 of Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion to players, marking the 5-year anniversary of the latest expansion. I've had the pleasure of working on Sins of a Solar Empire since we released the original title in 2008, and it's been great to see fans continue to play both the base game and the many mods that have been created for it. I imagine those mods may need to be updated depending on what version they were last updated for. The missing strings aren't fatal on their own.
No, you just need the Steam (or GOG) version. There's no dependency on GameStop to play.

The v2.10 update is now live on Steam. To answer jpinard - achievements will trigger in beta builds; not sure on the save games - probably depends on if we changed something specific to the mission.

Not off-hand, we're not really into Linux here. We did recompile the game under Visual Studio 2012, maybe that did something to the emulation?
If you're getting a content encrypted error on Steam, uninstall and then reinstall the game. That should fix it.
Only Founder Elites get the extra content for free. You may need to restart your Steam client for it to pick-up on the addition.
