I found the answer: http://slashdot.org/index.rss doesn't work with the readers, however http://slashdot.org/slashdot.rdf does . Hope this is helpful to others who enjoy the Slashdot RSS feed!

I have tried many of the DesktopX RSS readers on the site, and none of them work with the Slashdot RSS feed at http://slashdot.org/index.rss . Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone know how to make the Slashdot feed readable by the DesktopX readers? Thanks!
https://www.wincustomize.com/Forums.aspx?ForumID=42&AID=38799&cmd=myposts I had posted this a while ago. I think if someone could figure out how to make a speech recognition widget, it would be both useful and impressive.
Finale Notepad was good last I tried it. It seems to be just about what you are looking for. http://www.finalemusic.com/notepad/index.asp
Looks good, but the series of K's on the dock in the preview image is perhaps a little suggestive
Does no one else have this problem?
I just installed the new beta of DesktopX not too long ago... and it seems that the Silica RSS Reader widget has no memory of past settings. When I start up my computer, the widget resets to checking CNN Tech News. The same happens with the Core Weather widget. Whenever I restart my computer, the Core Weather widget has reset to a brown color and to checking weather in Livonia, Michigan. This phenomenon *doesn't* occur, however, with the Silica Stock-c
From the WindowBlinds reviews: Pros: Looks good and easy to use. Cons: This caused many programs to crash. It appears to be involved with every process on your pc and as a result can cause severe system stability. Back to Aston shell for me. I always thought severe stability was a good thing.
Just out of curiosity, will the forum(messageboard) from the old version of WinCustomize and the new forum be merged? If not, will there still be access to all of the info in the old forums(messageboard)?
If one person (adni18 or essorant, for example) has two skins in the top 10, do they still only get 5% or do they get 5% for each skin in the top 10?
If all else fails, try adding Firefox to the WindowBlinds exclude list.
Trillian 3 is near (probably in the next couple of months) release, so if a Trillian section is added (which I would very much like) it may make more sense to wait until the new version of Trillian is released.
The Skins Factory appears to have a trademark on "Skindication" (their custom branded players). I don't know if this is different enough from Skyndicate, but I just thought I'd let Styl know. [Message Edited]
Speech Recognition (eg saying "IE" would launch internet explorer, "notepad" would launch notepad, etc.) would be awesome. I got my feet wet a while back trying to figure out how to do this in VB, but to no avail. Perhaps someone who really knows how to code in C or Java cold find a better way to do this. The thread I started on the subject can be found here: https://www.wincustomize.com/msgboard.asp?BID=WCS&id=170419#173127 <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/smile.gif" border=0
As of now... Not a whole lot. But come 2006/7/8 when Longhorn comes out, there will be even MORE skinning to be done.
It's official. Dashboard comes with 10.4 Tiger. I was also reminded of a more limited desktopX. I was also disappointed by the lack of innovative features in this release.
Meow: I believe it renders all the textures on the fly, hence the high video card requirements. Yeah that''s incredible, considering Solitare (I''ll leave the spelling up to Jafo) takes about 55.5 kb on my computer. [Message Edited]
SDCentral has trouble running when ObjectBar is open. If you have OB running, make sure it is unloaded before you run SDC.
As long as it is off by default, and the check-mark or whatever is easily accessible (ie: not buried behind lots of menus and tabs) I think this actually could be pretty cool. [Message Edited]
Hey Bagginz!! BINGO! That was the problem. Thanks VERY MUCH. I was getting worried that I wouldn't be able to update my software.
There's a firewall on the router I'm going through. I'll see if thats the problem...
It still freezes on start-up of the program, even though I uninstalled and installed again :-/ Anyone know why this might be happening?
SDCentral freezes when I try and start it, so I have decided to do a reinstall. However, before I begin I have a question. When I uninstall SDCentral, will it also remove all my WB themes, and DesktopX themes and the programs themselves? Thanks!!!
I've been using iTunes, and I've noticed that when I use my scroll wheel the music skips. To check things out I went to the Windows Task Manager (aka my good friend ctrl alt del), to see what was goin on when I noticed that the System Idle Process was using a whopping 80% of my cpu! Is this normal? My system is as follows: AMD Athlon XP 1700+ 384 MB of Ram nVidia GeForce4 MX440se Windows XP SP1 Could it be a virus? Thanks!!
