There is only one version of Windows Vista. Everything else is MBA 101 marketing segmentation crippleware. On this issue, Apple is dead on. But Microsoft has the monopoly we gave them, so why do they have to care...at all? Answer: Until they feel real concerted competition/pressure from any sector (and no it won't be coming from a shareware OS like Linux), they don't have to try and won't waste the resources to do so. That's simple business 101.

If I got one, I'd only use it as an uber-iPod. AT&T is the worst choice they could have had for a provider. But the reason the iPod is ubiquitous is because it wasn't locked into a single source vendor. Locking the iPhone to AT&T for 5 years was a terrible mistake.

Add my name to the YES vote. Anyone can easily hit RMB over any empty dock space and bring up the dock settings, so while I agree this icon should be on by default, there isn't a need for the icon after one gets used to the program. So the option to turn off the icon would be appreciated, thanks.

I just ran the trial of Ultramon 3b1 (on Vista) and it lets you change the wallpapers properly per monitor. I still would like to see the site layout expand to take into account larger browser windows. I'm getting a lot less information per page now over the last site rev. If the right sidebar just automatically right justified in any browser, the main content frame could autosize between the left window edge and said sidebar. I have the same problem with the autohiding tabbed dock forgetting its position in a two monitor setup. Sometimes it happens if I shutdown/restart/logoff normally, but it happens the most if I quit objectdock before shutdown/restart/logoff. None of my four other zoomer docks get lost. They hide the toolbar by default. There is an option within the control panel to control this behavior, including leaving it on permanently. And, of course, it's skinnable too.

Actually, the latest versions of CD Art Display do have a toolbar to play/pause etc., so once you have your playlist the way you want it in winamp, you can minimize winamp (leaving CD Art Display up) and control things from the toolbar (which can be set to fade in only when the mouse is hovering over the cover, or be on all the time). The latest version also has lyrics support and some pretty righteous skins.

Zone Alarm Pro, AdAware, Windows Defender. AdAware (which has no resident always running application in the free version) and Windows Defender (which does) won't stop Spycrush, for example, a very common out in the wild trojan/spyware. I just had a friend hit with that. Since Spycrush stops other anti-spyware apps from running or being installed, the only way I could clean his system and get it back to running was by switching him to NOD32. <

NOD32...it catches all viruses, trojans, and spyware. Even after the fact, when I have to install it on systems running the software listed above...ahem. You don't need a special software firewall (like Zone Alarm) if you have a hardware router/NAT and you are running a top-flight antivirus (re: NOT Norton, McAfee, or the freeware aps). XP and Vista have built in firewalls in case you don't have a NAT, but I really recommend a hardware firewall/router/NAT as your first line of defense

There is a problem with stardock central and this release... I checked mine, said I was already running 1.00.002, released June 5, 2007, today...yet I had not updated my beta to the new version. Checking the interface, I could see it didn't match the new screenshots. I downloaded the version from the main site link above. It installed v1.00 which had the new interface. Then Stardock Central advises me to update to v1.00.002, which for the hell of it, I did.

By the way, for tabbed and zoomed docks you can use the "animated shortcut" to add even fancier effects that the ones you see here. If you're an animator, it's way fun, but even if you aren't there are TONS of them online here (just search the gallery for "animated"). And I can confirm they work even better under vista than xp (had some gdi issues with a score of them going hehe).
