One of my good freind, saw a kick-ass, workstation like these, and CAD'ed his own. After it was all said in done, He lumbered it out, for $400, and when he was done, it looked like a million and change.

Now I recommend getting Norton Ghost and creating, a ghosted image of the drive. NG will take 1.5 GB, and crunch it down to 600 Mb's. When that is done, create a boot disk, and put the Norton Ghost .exe on the Boot Disk. Now take Nero and create a Bootable CD, using the Boot Disk with Ghost on it, as the Boot Rom image and include your triple compressed *.gho image on the CD. Now if everything craps on ya, 12 to 20 minutes and you are back to guy..no muss, no fuss...
Thanks, Tarkus..giving it a try. I already hacked the reg to get rid of Messenger, and the other crap.
Four count em, four instances of svchost, that's the start. I'll get your Ball Rolling. All Four Instances totalling Roughly to 24 Mb's. Explorer in Win2K Pro average 3 to 4 Mb's / XP 18 Mb's. Winlogon, gets a 5 Mb chunk. Total Usage Runs, Roughly in the 64 Mb's Range, Doing Nothing, but Sitting There. That's flat on it's back, in op mode by itself. Then the overhead with, the Restore Feature, Prefetch (and don't get something wonky in there.) And if someone can tell me how to disable the Lo

Ditto, on the really big sizes. 3X at least, as I am, kinda a big Puter Tater.
I havn't got a single one. I guess I am unloved and Unpopular. Darn.
Remind me to NEVER, ask to Borrow Jafo's Keyboard.
TarKus, AJC is not very far off, the mark. I have run the Beta's myself, and have come accross, some of those issues. Included, is the MS Firewall Crap, and about 10 Services that are not needed, by the average User, nomatter what MS says. The MS Messanger, prob is exactly as he says. Delete the Reg Entry and it comes, back on reboot. You can Delete the Entry and then get rid of the progeam folder. MS only offers the option od Uninstalling the MSN, front end. They also shove Wizards @ ya for
And the prodigal Son return. Welcome Back, yah Big-Old-Hairy-Freak....... Nice to have ya knocking, about in the corridors.
Conratulations Guys...
Part of the Object Desktop, includes a Virtual Windows Manager. It's called Band VWM.
I'd say contact an Attorney, and have a letter, Drafted, and sent to Nullsoft/ aka AOL. Just to let them know that the Charge for Violating your, Copyright, you are going to charge them XXX dollars for each and every download. Plus Legal Fees. I bet it gets removed pretty quickly. Unfortunately the damage is already done. Perhaps you should Sue, the Ripper, for defamation, theft and Raping the Queen Mother, plus any other thing you, can throw at them. Best of luck to ya. <img src="http://images.
So do I have an account, like the one I use here for and example. Or does my Object Desktop, registration count, or what?
Thanks for clearing that up, I guess, Alexandrie. I have a hard time understanding, the seperation, between, the two, Entities.
Sorry the #2 was the suggestion.
Well for Starters, since Brad is complaining about WC, use of resources, funding and whatnot, I have an observation and a suggestion. 1. Observation... I Pulled up Icon Packager today, after a Systems Restore, and wanted to get some packages downloaded. I used the web integrated feature, and popp'ed over to the Packagers, Package Repository. When I got there I was informed that, the Repository was limited to 5000, users and that I was being redirected, to Wincustomize, for Downloads
I do not want to seem like a total idiot, when it comes to the finances of keeping things running. I do see a need for other monetary funding. I understand, that Honest Joe Company, want to provide me with a nice website to visit, and is seeking an alternative to Banners, and whatnot. I am just a single, person on a box, coming over a wire. I am part of the machine that, has become fed up with all the wastefull, practices, of this Industry. If alot of the Companies, saved their monie
The Point I am trying to reinforce, is the fact that, I am at dual purposes, here. I am financing the New Generations, that expect free content, and I am also being asked to pay for content, because everyone expected it for free, and noone is making any money, anymore. I paid for them to shove ads down my throat,Now I am going to have to pay to NOT have ads shoved down my throat. The Grand Money Ploy that was the Dot Com Revolution, has just about driven this Country into a recession. Af
How Much have we lost to Internet II ? The Free Ride continues, on that medium. I am sure, that as long as it does, it will promote the feelings that Net Content, should be FREE. And Once, again the American Public is footing the Bill, via Tax Dollars. So you ask me am I going to pay for, this or that. Excuse me Buddy, but I already have. Every deduction from my Paycheck, from Uncle Sam, has paid for the development of this Medium. Lest we forget our past....DARPA. I was there in the beg
Well, to further the Overburdening, issue, and to show, how ludicrous, commerce is pushing this issue, and to further my point about access devices, here is a link about MS and a Park Bench in England. http://www.msnbc.com/news/601116.asp?0si=-&cp1=1 Sounds silly, but I guess they will wire, anything.
A word of advice, for some. One of the Newest features id an integrated, Firewall. This turned out to be a pain in the arse. It took me at least 20 minutes, to figure, out my Network, issue. I was able to see, the Internet, through my Home LAN, but unable to see any other machine, on the LAN. After tinkering every Setting @ least twice, I went into Services and stopped the, built in Firewall. Low and behold, there was my Home Network. Now this sounds, like
Well, I'll tell ay this much, I do not pay $10 a month for my line. I pay $50, for it. I pay my $$$, to have all these banner ads, pop up, and what not shoved down my throat. I pay the same amount for my DSS, subscription, give or take a few bucks. I have content on both, one is merely Televised, programming, and the other is Web Based programming. I do not see the Television Networks Clammoring about the downfall, of their Media. The only problem I have with all of this pay or play, crap is tha
Here's a very decent article, on the activation process, that further explains it, Brad. http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/4/20433.html
In the Other Thread on Custom Colors the Point was raised, about features. To promote the General Welfare, and further the Quest for knowledge. I ask of you these Questions. 1. What feature in windowblinds, do you find the most usefull? 2. Blue or Grey,or other, what Colors make the best receptive Skinz? 3. How often do you switch, Themes? 4.What do you think the perfect theme is? (Insert dream features here.) Also this is a NO Point Garnering P
