Right-click on your Desktop - click on 'Personalize' - then click on 'Desktop background' - choose 'Windows DreamScenes' from the drop-down List - then click on one, and DreamScene should be running. Then go back to your installation file and try to install DeskScapes again. This time it should recognize DreamScene. Edit: I just remembered, there was something a while back where DeskScapes didn't recognise Vist
What exactly are you trying to install? DeskScapes? If yes: Try running a Windows Dreamscene in the background, while you are installing DeskScapes. That did the trick for me.
On topic, For my personal taste, a good cursor should be pointy at the tip. The ones with round tips or unusual forms might be cool to look at, but navigation with them is just not as precise and just more difficult. That doesn't mean a cursor has to be arrow shaped, it can have an unusual form, but should have a clear tip somewhere. Does that make any sense?

I think the first skin I ever put on my Win98 Machine was a skin that came with Myst-Exile. No Idea what WB version that was but there was also a trial version of the program itself on the game CD (as far I can remember). I still remember DavidK and Crumbut...... made some excellent skins.
Take your time to make a skin and only put it up here when you are completely happy with it. But don't be too critical for the first one, otherwise you end up releasing nothing..... I would know..
Updated just now with RC running, I had to reboot, but my menu was still there afterwards.
My boss seems to think he has to do everything by himself too. He was used to work for himself, but now has to lead a team. I keep on telling him that he slows down the whole group if he attempts to micro-manage every little thing by himself. So don't feel guilty about spending time with your family. Just delegate the responsibility and spread the load a bit. Your kids will be ever grateful for that.

Don't know if this is of any help... I had exactly the same problem after upgrading from the beta to the full release through SDC. The beta ran flawlessly, but after upgrading and rebooting, Vista64 booted into 'classic', and the WB-configuration menu popped up, but didn't let me change any skins (nothing happened when I pressed 'apply my changes now'). I read in another thread that after uninstalling WB I should delete the wbload.dll's out of the system32 and syswow6
I found that a large proportion (not all of course) of the people who cry: 'Vista is crap', are people who got their version of Vista through a p2p-Network. Pirated copies of Vista have been around since the beta-versions, and many of those are still being distributed as the real thing. There are also tons of "customized" and "light" Versions available. I believe Vista was probably the first OS to be pirated so heavily at such an early stage. During the time I contemplated buying a new compu

I don't really understand where all the gripe about Vista comes from. Yes , the improvements over XP are much smaller than initially planned. Yes , if you have a working XP machine, and are not in the market for a new computer, you might as well stick with XP. But... No , Vista is not less stable than its predecessor (that was the biggest downfall of ME, which was much less stable than Win98SE), and as such is not a "second ME". N
