Hmmm I am beginning to understand. Still there are a few questions left. When a physical collage is a re-association of several cut up images/photographs you might argue it is new work. If so, you are entitled to scan (duplicate) and put it online. If it is seen as derivative work I perfectly understand the illegality of it. Now where does one draw the line where it is new work or derivative? <img src="http://images.st

Bedtime already...1 am here...see you guys, and enjoy your evening
Oh elvee...you aren't counting nipples and nuts are you?
It was fact finding WOM. Let me just say (as you probably noticed before) that I ask things when I am not sure. I am happy with your answer
Jafo, in other words, you are saying: you can make a collage physically and display in a gallery, but if you scan in the collage and display it online you violate copyright? I feel so ignorant on this subject.
Thanks WOM, hope you do ok too
Hope you have enough time to read all the new items. There are quite some interesting threads. So you finished the inventory counting? <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle" ALT="Powered by Sk
elveeeeeeeeeee how are you going ? WOM-I understand the averaging But what is displayed for visitors ?..works with the average rating or the first rating given by the moderator ?...In other words, works that WC want to be displaye
I agree with you Carlitus.
By the way, these kind of collages are made by a whole lot of well known visual artists.
With a collage mostly is meant: you tear up a lot of text, pieces of photographs, cut out photographs, cut them again into pieces and you end up with a total new lay-out, paint over it, glue new pieces of paper over it, etc...it's not something like neatly placing whole photographs in rows on a cardboard. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle" ALT="Powered by SkinBrowser!"
Well I am glad you said this KarmaGirl. I understand Bakerstreets' point of view and do agree on a few points he made. I like your society with set laws better though.
When you take a fundamentalistic stance on what is copyright, after a while you will have a lot of people conducting cases against each other. You end up in a society written by Orwell. When it comes to art (and who defines art?) lots of things have been done over and over again. Lots of things have been painted, or photographed in a same kind of style. If you admire someone you will try to reach the same effects. If that is copying or stealing I am not sure if I want to live in such a society.
Crae, absolutely right! I love the illusion, but if you look closely you will notice the uphilly slope at the left back side. This is due to the wrong tonation of the grey and why a=b If you have the tonation right you will create depth and lose the illusion... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALI
uhoh vrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrooooooooooooooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmm
morning mr wise How are you going today...I have a question to you You said in another thread visitors are only shown works with a rating of 7 and higher. As a journeyman you probably know if the display of a work is related to the rating given by the moderator or is it related to the actual latest rating. I hope yo
Back and running fine
OOOOOOOOOOOOpsss I see what you mean, still having an older version..hmmm..brb, thanks WOM
Formula 1 in Indy just finished, cool race. New WC stuff installed, no probs on my machine.
Cheers everyone. I have bubble beer..
So? You mean the rating that is given by moderators, or the latest rating. And I don't see a connection between that and not being able to access.
I am just wondering if there has been a study about this. How often do people that are non-subscribers get 404? If it is as bad as some has stated here, isn't it a bit unfair, that works from people, freely submitted here, get a lower chance of being seen by visitors? Just a thought...
HI WOM, great thanks...what about yourself?
Oh well, you know GM, I have still my hands to type with...
Me Chinese? Tehe, yeah I love all the current desktops from the others too Joe Your enthousiasm is so infectuous <img src="http://images.stardock.com/im
