Jafo #8..... OEM installs of XP won't give an option if the hard disk is already formatted. I did an install when I bought 2 larger drives, evidently they had something on them (they were used) and my OEM install disk decided it would be great if it installed the OS on hard drive #2 which was "slave" on IDE1, my DVD being master. wow was I surprised when after installation was complete that my "backup" disk was going to be 80 gig and my "system"

When the beta was first released to subscribers, I had similar problems to those that have install/upgrade problems. I wonder if the sequence of downloading has anything to do with it. The reason I ask myself this is because, when I did do an OS re-install recently as many who have problems, when it came to OD I used the SDC to do it. I downloaded and installed ONE at a time, first 4.6, then the skins and extras, THEN the beta 5. I had tried it thr

I am wondering what the commonality is for all those you listed links to bichur...cuz I tweaked the heck out of my system, I mean lots of registry/install/servcies tweaks and I expected to have problems with at least one of my skin-apps. I guess I lucked out (fingers-crossed)

Okay, I saw another thread, but can't remember where, but here is what was done with the ATI 9200: Uninstall drivers and control panel, reboot, reinstall drivers-but not the control panel. This worked for several others using ATI 9200 with Catalyst control panel 5.9 jweaks ahs the best solution. The Catalyst Control panel seems to have difficulty if you try to apply windowblinds to it also, even though it has a skin or two

Folder options: open an explorer window, right click on "My Computer", click on "explore" click on "Tools", then click on "Folder Options" in the drop down menu click on the "view" tab scroll down to the "Launch folder windows in seperate process" uncheck it if its checked This might help, but I am not absolutely sure. And remember WB5 is a beta...

Thanks, I am trying WindowFX out anyway. Although, I am using it without the transitional effects-dragging/min/max/rest types.

I agree here in that while getting my father's laptop to perform and still have 50-60 mb free, I found that running windowblinds made a difference of about 1 mb over classic view. This number is with no desktop background, running XP SP2, StealthOS with transparent taskbar, and PointChrome Cursor.

With todays modern technology, you know high speed internet, light-speed fast CPUs and memory, our computers run very efficiently compared to just 5 years ago. My father has a Pentium II (366 mhz) laptop with 320mb of memory and a 6 gig hard drive. He uses it for writing Safety Awareness Programs as he is a safety consultant to industries from coast to coast. He believes that these documents, the "Safety Programs", cause his laptop to run slower. W

If you are talking about the previews on the website, try subscribing to WC browser. If you have a firewall/pop-up blocker set up, you might try allowing the site (h**p://www.wincustomize.com= allow). I had to tell my firewall that it was okay for my browser to load from the site, then told my Internet Explorer that it was okay, too. Internet properties-Privacy add site and allow. Hope that helps. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Smil

I paid my 20USD, so I guess I have some input. It took me a good 2-3 months to get convinced that if I didn't get a subscription to WC, I might just get to miss out on a lot of eye candy for my desktop. I bought OD first, have learned to do a little skinning with the SkinStudio lite, but haven't put forth the effort to build and upload my very own skin. I have been to other sites that have WB skins, but most don't seem to be as easy to
