Wow, nothing like tax protesters. Well the IRS special agent who didn't pay taxes is Joe Banister, who was convicted of failing to file taxes in 2005. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Banister. The arguments about constitutionality have been ruled on as frivolous. Basically, if you argue them in court, you get fined. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_protesters. So here is the deal, the Courts have already ruled. You don't get to determine what is and what i

The non-communication thing is very unusual for Stardock. Would be nice to know what is going on...

The Drengin spend so much on ships, they lag behind a reasonable power in terms of tech after a fairly short period of time. So if the Drengin are beating you at anything other than the earliest era of the game, you are probably doing something wrong. You really need a fast expansion in the beginning. It will increase your population and therefore your tax revenue. You need to set your research relatively high so that you have the technology. You also need to understand why you ar

Your number 4 makes no sense. In GalCiv I, there was a Terror Star that could destroy a star system. So it is hardly crazy to think in the same universe there would be similar technology. I don't personally miss it all that much, but it would be nice.

The big issue was when you discovered a new civil technology. You would have your economy humming along nicely and then all of a sudden, everything is upgraded, so your economy was running massively in the red. Then it would slowly taper off. It just meant you would need to really pay attention to everything your civ was building, which was a pain and not fun, so they got rid of it.

The Drengin do have some funny comments when they become good. I had the whole Drengin become good random event and they were hillarious: "We are not really cuddly, but if you were here, we would give you a biiiiig hug." That is probably not a direct quote, but it is close. Really funny stuff.

You get one shot... if the enemy dies, you win. Otherwise, you are hosed. Oh, and you can only take on 1 ship at a time. So no, I don't think it will work. I thought about it though

Seems to be fairly random which planets get lights in my games. I have seen 20+ Billion person planets with no lights and 100 million planets with them. Dunno. It is mildly annoying since I tried to show off the lights to someone who I was trying to get to buy the game and the planet had none, so I had to quickly find one that did (he bought the game, if anyone was curious).

Hell, the USPS is faster than UPS in my experience... and they have lost a heck of a lot fewer things for me. And they are cheaper. And they deliver on Saturdays. So yeah, I would rather it come by USPS than most any other form.

Minors also are happy to conquer enemy territory. I gifted one of my battleships to one of the minors who were having issues with the Torrians. Well a few months later, they had conquered one of the Torrian worlds, thus splitting their empire in 2. I was close with both the Torrians and the minor race, but I enjoyed watching the minors kill every Torrian ship that tried to cross the minor's space to get at the rest of their empire. Soon, my culture

There are a couple of trade modules and they should stack (I build multiples if I am playing good, though I have not really been monitoring them too closely). I use them also for the production boost... I tend to have 2-3 economic bases around my core world(s).

I tend to prefer all-attack ships so I can rapidly switch strategies (research 2 weapon types and no defense). This way, no matter what my opponent uses, I have a weapon that can rip through any possible defense. I do, however, in the late game research defenses if the game becomes superpower vs. superpower. So yeah, defenses are good, but I still prefer offense.

Look, Stardock has admited they made some errors and the publisher was unable to deal with how fast the game's popularity grew. So yeah, it sucks, but it really is not the end of the world.

I am not sure how a patch could help this. It sounds like it is just the first time your computer has really had to work. Maybe your video card is finally earning its keep or something? But whatever it is, it definitely sounds like a pure hardware issue. If it is a machine from a company, I would call their tech support--it sounds like their issue.

Sure, the AI can use it. If it gets unlucky on its attempt to invade your planet, but later invades it normally, it gets the same benefit as you would under the same circumstances. Oh, and sending only 1 troop in a transport is not effective at all. OK, so you manage to maybe kill 30 of their guys... great. They have 4070 remaining. Oh, and you wasted a transport.

Yeah, but the experience of a hunter does not give him more staying power against bullets, so I am not sure I see why you think it is relevant here if you are not also saying experience should give no extra hitpoints. Basically, realism is not the issue here, but gameplay. It is easier to hold one thing constant and only have one thing change based on experience when you want to balance things--you choose either HP or damage. The devs chose HP (as t
