high class planets AREN'T perfect for our biology. It's a jungle wourld with Tree-Rippers, Saw-Birds, and Venus Man-Traps. The worlds native biology is too hostile too use to colonize. It's also a game-blance Issue. I also like "claim before you colonize" idea.
Beta Tesla
I currently have a GalCiv I game, and i have that exact same strategy, i have just my "Party Star" circle the enemy system, and slowly get a culture win, while going for a tech victory in the background. I can see the whole seperate starbse thing, but I love movable bases. Why can't we strap a rocket on Starbase 12 and send it flying towards the enemy capital? Another thing, why aren't there reserch modules for our starbases?
Ok i've calmed down, i'm gonna try re-runing GalCiv2 a few times, see if this is one of those problems that magikly fixes itself... I have downloaded Beta4b. lets see if that helps. Nope
I just left GalCiv2 Beta4 to download overnite, 'cuz i get 31 kps on a good day, and i come to it in the morning. The download and install is complet. I run the program, and when i get to the main menu, all the buttons are blank! theres no label on the buttons! I decide to click the top button, cuz it should be "new game", it was that in GalCiv1. So i get to the next screen, and all I get is screen of empty square with drop-down buttons! Please tell me what happend!
if you'd put on ship a 50% cloak, then a range 10 scanner would detect that ship at range 5, and range 20 scanner at 10. I like this Idea. It seems to be fair, and can be well countered.
Truth is, the only American monopoly is Microsoft. And they still have Apple and Linux as competitors.
Mabey haveing a borg race with assimilation is a copy-right infringment? or mabey the devs don't want to just copy other peoples ideas...
Lowa, there is defintly something wrong with you...
Lowa, have you taken some sort of illegal substance? It would explain a lot...
I concur. It adds to the game to allow the "Swarm of Ants" stratagy, as well as the "Twelve Titans" idea.
The Yor are desinged to use bio-matter as fuel. The convert theirvictems into bio-deisel first. Then they spread it on Silicon wafers as food. But the phrase "We will liqueify your speises to spread on our toast" sound more daunting and understandable.
From what i know, the whole "Nuclear Tectonics" consept is compleatly made up by movie-makers who have no regard for real-world physics. However, I do agree with terra-forming mars. In GalCiv1, i often got the class 13-14 planets because the AI won't take 'em, and then upgrade them to class 16. Lot's of colonys all over the map . My point is that mas could be terra-formed. By the habitat improvments.
I Pre-ordered GalCiv2 yesterday, and Beta4 comes out tomorrow. If i don't recieve an email to get into the beta, what should i do?
I definitly seems to me that even being able to mod in unique improvments would be a great adition to the game. Spliting up the data files would take a hour of copy-and-pasting, plus another hour of coding to use the seperate files. Tops. Probably less.
Or you could simply fly some menecing Battleships to supprese the revolt.
What's all this argument of races about? Assimilation and enslavement have the same result. Their people become yours. Or the Yor's, as the case may be. Anyway, they work for you. A man is a man, be he white, purple, or blue. From the game's standpoint, the species is unimportant. How about a new invasion tactic, Enslave. It would work like Information Warfare, but take a flat percent and have morale penaltys. What do you think?
Why should 5 bil be breeding and then starving? Aren't their population controls?
Perhaps the amount of "Rebound Damage" to the attacker should be based on the TYPE of defense. For example, Point Defense against missiles acualy fires mini-wepons at the missiles, so why not file the mini-guns at the enemy ship? Anti-Energy Shields could either deflect some the beam back at the attacker, or mabey make some sort energy lash back at the attacker. Armored Hulls wouldn't do rebound damage, but armor is cheap to make, and avalibe from the start. (You have to research to other two.)<
Up at the top of this forum, someone metioned that you can't build banks right off, and so have to back and re-zone once you can. My solution is to make a new improvment called "blank foundation". So if you want to zone for banks, lay "bank foundations", or mabey i want "Stadium foundations", some "Tech Lab Foundations", plus a "Factory Foundation". What do you think?
That last comment brings up a point. Aren't their people on those Starbases? Should'nt Starbases have their own population. When you launch a constructor it should be carrying ,say, a million people. a small drain on population, but still, it's there. As the base has limited life support, exsess people are shifted to nearby planets. That could be coded as a pop growth bonus. Every new module would bring and allow another mil of dudes. This would be cool, because it might allow you to use boardin
I belive some one mectioned tyeing fleet cap to hull size. So with a fleet cap of 9 for example, that gives you 9 lvl. 1s, 1 lvl. 9, 3 lvl. 3s, or any other combination, and they'd all be pretty equal.
Who says the fleet has to little more than black blobs in the sky? A sky texture plus a bright light or 2, and there you go! Instant sky! As for the bombardment, I Like It!
Well of course you dont buy a billion soilders, a man at a time. You buy an armay at a time, just like your ships. that corvett isn't just one corvett, it's a Squad of 'em. But i agree with the bad general set. So just don't have bad generals. Make 'em like Political Partys, they're all good, just in different ways.
I Like It!
A lot from a little... Great Idea! But how do you coodinate attacks?
