But except for some techs, there is no way I can increase the defensive capability of my planets. And I never use Tidal Disruption or Mass driver, btw. If I can't conquer a planet without blowing it up, then I shouldn't. And I absolutely REFUSE to allow planet-by-planet soldering training. It's empire-wide, period. If we didn't do that, we would be able to exploit the AI's weaknesses. Right now, the AI sits on huge amount of money he could spend on more soldering (since solderi

It's true that "flagging" a planet in diplomatic options would be nice. Ye know "This planet is mine or suffers the consequences". If the AI doesn't really care about it, "Fine", if the AI wants it, "Okay, if you pay me 1000 BC".

Okay.. what about: You can increase the bonus only by +1 soldering a week? exemple: you invest 0$ right now. You have 10b population. The max you can raise the military budget is +10bc/week. the next week, you still want more, you raise it a +10bc more.. etc.. eventually, with constant increase, you reach +50 soldering, which cost you a big (relative) 500bc/week. The problem is, now you need more $, can you simply turn it down, flushing your military bugdet do

If would be nice to have a slider, to volountary invest into military training among the population. If would be REALLY REALLY simple: You invest 400 bc/week into military training. ($ chosen with the slider) you have 20 billion population 400/20 = +20 Soldering bonus for the next turn, as long as you keep spending the money, your soldiers can fight better. It would be a good way for the A.I. who has too much money but not ennough soldering to be more efficien

I would like to ask the developpers if it is in the realm of possibility, with our current level of software developpement, that we could not only build an AI that reacts to our actions (because, let's face it, the AI is currently very good to REACT, 400% more than most game I played), but to establish a general strategy, thinking on a chain of actions as a whole, rather than going for the targets of opportunity or usual "fleet + transport". I mean, look at my actual game. The Altarians

yeah that is a good point, however when you think your allied with someone you wouldnt expect them to attack while your upgrading, but that is a good point tho. Oh, me and the Iconians weren't looking for any deep relationship. We already settled our situation on "just friends" (until I became jealous of their huge...)

There, changed into AARs (thank you). But Ricree's right, I ignored Mars because it's kinda weak at first. It was worth it, 'cause I managed to grab 3 decent planets nearby, and the Iconians were left with Mars and another PQ6. At it was the Akilian, a Minor Specie, who signed the peace treaty with the Dread Lords. Maybe Minor civs aren't subjected to the same restrictions are the major? And I would like to see the Dread Lords begin to really invade the Arceans. For now, they j

It's the beggining of a new Dawn for the Galaxy. We, humans, have decided to share our new discovery of the hyperdrive to all, only to see that everybody wants now to abuse it, in order to dominate it's neighboors... We send a few billion peoples away in colony ships, and take some planets here and there, within range of Earth. However, a benevolent race named the Iconians colonized Mars before we had the time to take it. It's simply a big rock, so no great loss... However, that big roc

Too sad it's finished... I would have submitted: Cikomyr, Torian Slave Scientist Cikomyr usually propose ideas of implimentation of high-technologies at the wrong time. For example: When you just researched Plasma 1, he proposes a ship equipped with the powerful Phasor II to be "eventually implimented". He doesn't care that his ideas are years before being put into work, he just love to propose ideas.

If we want to add some realism to the game, we could add that a ship looses some attack/defence/speed when he is a 50% of hit points, and he is a sitting duck if he reaches 25% of his hit points. In a battle, when a ships reaches 25%, the other ships doesn't consider it a treath anymore, and will change target. If the winning side has crippled ships left on his side, he could either: - Leave the crippled ships in the middle of space until tractor ships (see below) arrives (or a

I would like to be able to Delete Stardock's ship. These are useless, except the "base" drawing. I would love to organize the starships in the shipyards by folders. Some would be only the design, well others would be battleships... etc...

Point taken. However, when the systems are picture on the main map, you could select it (like good'ol GalCiv1). When you select it, a smallish "popup-map" would show the details of the system if you have sufficient sensor details. What would be the details? It depends on the ship's sensors and the range from where it scans. Rank 1: Detect the system itself, # of planets Rank 2: Detect other major astronomical in a system Rank 3: Can specify the classes of planets Ra

If we wanted to add some realism, why not include 2 layers of map. One for interstellar travels, where you only see the star, and the "Warp" technology applies for speed, and the other, where you see the detailed view of a star system, and only "impulse" technology applies? We could add some landscape to a solar system, with asteroid fields to avoid, or special anomalies. A ship that is going to be outrunned in interstellar space could fin a nearby star system to escape trough impulse

Are we talking end-game, or along the game? 'cause for me, 90% of the game is played without any of the ultimate weapons. Off course, defences are WAY more effective if everybody follows the same line of weaponry (in my actual game, there seems to be a ban on mass drivers... and only the Iconians researched beam weaponry, so everybody is missile attack and defences). So, before reaching the super-mighty end-game weaponry, defences are WAY worth their cost. At the end, it's obs

I find really funny the argument that "Defence are useless 'cause a lucky shot can still destroy your ship". In my actual game, I actually tried the "many-small ship with only of offence" (a strategy I herad many time on this forum) to replace my actual fleet of corvette with 50/50 (in %!). Guess what? When you have no defence, your ship will die on ANY shot, no just the lucky ones! Sure, defences are more expensive. But unless being really unlucky, your ship will have a much better kil

No one should forget that 2 species will get blow to bit BEFORE Dark Avatar. Now, my money would be on: The Thalan. Just too powerful if run properly.. insta-factories? WTF? I have to see it yet, but I guess they'll get a big start in military and social production The Krox. Yhea, 100% trade tech sounds fun.. but.. come on, compare this to the Yor's, which gets REALLY usefull in the end-game zone, when ship can move a quazillion parsec/week. They're gonna be a pain to invade, s

Think of it: you trace a big exploration route for your survey vessel, and one in a while, the "event alarm" informs you that it discovered a planet, an anomaly, etc.. If it's an anomaly, you can always choose to divert course to investigate. The choice shows you the delay time from your original course. If it's a system, you could ask the ship to chart it. Etc... However, later in the game, you send an attack fleet inside Drengin Territoy. It detects an ennemy dr

The idea of turn-by-turn strategy games is to allow the player plenty of time to sit down and think about micro-managing, tactical moves to make, etc... However, turn-by-turn is lacking some kind of realism. You can't "intercept" ships when they come your direction. If I have a ship that can move 15 parsec, he can simply fly over an AI ship that is limited to 3 persec. While in a RTS game setting, the AI ship could try to intercept my vessel, forcing my own ship to take evasive manoeuv

Well, I have do say: I do not care about the outcome. I care about the game itself, the fun I have to play, and the sweat that results from a close-match struggle against... - The Drengins - The Yor + Drengins or in my actual game - Drengins + Altarian + Torian + Arcean + Drath. I KNOW I haven't played the optimal play, I done my best to NOT be the friendliest player of the galaxy, trading with only 1 civilization (Terrans). But, hell, I love it!
