Good suggestions Zu. Had planned on making it sizeable. Now that could be dynamic but, I'm thinking that might be too confusing for many people
Try to keep the tree code framework as open as possible for the future
Define open? How about the ability to just put your image in a folder? Here's a very basic layout of things. Note the funky Zuba-esque Xmas tree! ;p <

Got this idea from another post and this deviation http://glasskiwi.deviantart.com/art/Pimp-Your-Christmas-Tree-26539141 . I'm willing to script something. So, looking for your ideas, graphics, etc. I'm sure we can put something together quickly. Some of my ideas: Graphics (animated and/or non-animated): ornaments presents (both for under & on tree) Trees, fake, real
My non-caffeinated and caffeinated pain is everyone's gain.
I've learned that riding the short bus to school, does'nt mean you are hip and cool
NOOOOOO...tell me it's not true! :SNIFF!:
FRANCE! We come from France!
:HOT:

So, I'm working on a fairly large widget/gadget and have been noticing some lag's in responsiveness when I apply/save the main script. This morning I moved most of it into an external file and have noticed DX's refresh time to be significantly better with just the main callbacks internally. Not to mention it's easier to navigate the subprocedures/functions from Notepad++. Wondered if anyone else had noticed this or if my mind's playing tricks? If it matters my base objects cons
Okay, just a little bit early for "Cabin Fever", that is unless you live way up north. Well, I guess Canada is just a little north of warm right now!!!!
:lol Was looking at the weather the other day & Pittsburgh was 17°C...never would've thought I'd like to live in Pittsburgh! :D
Rice goes in Salt not sugar to make it easier to break up Rice & coffee/tea don't mix Straining Sugar is not fun when you haven't had a coffee yet...or pretty much any other time! :D 20 pounds of sugar is not a deal for one person no matter what the price is. Clipping your own hair after six cups of coffee just to save $12 is not a good idea :SNIFF!: I have a cone head Those bumps, dents & any head related injury you've suff
Yep, way too many to adequately list. Overall nominations for a general DesktopX Object/Widget/Gadget Skinner I'd say Vad_M & RomanDA. My category picks are more specifically tools that I use almost daily DX Gadgets - Thomassen's DesktopX Script Manual DX Widgets - sViz's Desktop Script Helper DX Objects - Skarn's Bits 1 & 2
I've decided not to pursue the Text App Launcher as a full widget but, probably will release something in the next week or so for people to see how to create therir own text based launcher. These are my current projects. To the left is a file sorter and to the right is a Shortcut Launcher/Manager that will include profiles & categories...this is also the first widget I'm tracking my time on. Boy talk about sucking the life out of something! X-( [img]http://img138.imageshack.u
I'm going to give you a #3 because you deserve it! ;) It's a good thing you added rules because I have a feeling you could be a groper! ;p
Looks for interesting.
Going to use DX as an interface?
Funny, you should mention that. Though I don't think it's possible, I was thinking of dusting off my dvd burner and making some family picture DVD's and pondering how great it would be if I could build a custom menu using DX.
Wow, congrat's all! Oops, I see one mistake, breaking out the eraser nwo. ;p Seriously, thanks. :D
They'll be lucky to get half of the $1000 on eBay. IMO your offer of $650 is more than fair. After all you're saving them the time of posting & managing the auction plus shipping etc. Non-use or low use doesn't necessarily equal a higher value with computers. I'm also thinking that you can depreciate a computer over 2 or 3 years under GAAP. So, you could figure that into your calculations also. Then again I'm a hard ass when it comes to negotiating pricing on anythin
I have to agree on not disabling system restore it's a lot easier than mucking around in the recovery console and if you do end up in the console it can help sometimes. Also, there's a better way than disabling hibernation. Lately, I've started to degrag only the most often used files which seems to speed things up plus it's a heck of a lot quicker than doing the drive.
umm...yeah I was wrong about Thunderbird. Couldn't get the local files to work even changing the path to what works in Fx.
you should probably wipe then...
:SURPRISED:
Maybe you could also be a little more specific? From which calendar? If you're talking desktopX it can easily be added, I can add a local hyperlink in Lightening in Thunderbird and while I haven't used Outlook in years that was definitely possible even back in 2000. Now if you're talking Rainlendar it's not possible ATM but, scripting is to be added.
Quick question. By default when an icon is used for an object's picture it automatically defaults to the 32px size regardless of the objects height/width. Is it possible to script this? If not maybe some thought could be given to reading an object's size and picking the closest icon layer size?
Very nice picks. :CONGRAT: My appreciation is gratefully extended to the WC staff in the recent burst of community features and articles. It's nice to know that even if I don't make it here on a regular basis that some great community contributions are only a click way and don't require slogging through the gallery. Keep up the great work guys/gals! :CONGRAT:

To answer the photoshop question the main focus is an open source software in order for the apps to be packed/tweaked if needed. You can add any portable apps to it. I put in Opera's usb version and a number of custom gadgets.
Thanks Hankers. There goes my afternoon!
Have known about it for sometime but, finally put it to use two weeks ago. Very slick. I don't know what you are referring to when you say skinnable but, the menu isn't aside from the icons. Somewhere I saw that the menu may have been done in DesktopX; so, consider this my open offer to the author to either make it skinnable or help him/her. Edit: Okay, I see it's in the beta
Actually, the ad revenue was referring to early on (granted I have checked her site) nor do I expect her to share all the specifics. I'm sure the bulk is some form of co-opting worked into their designs. That's what you need John to be a shill for the Fortune 500. ;p Coke or Pepsi Theme anyone? :D
Great article. I guess it really is based on perspective. Personally, I do see it the same way as John but, the same could be said about websites. Some of my favorite & informative sites are basic html cranked out in notepad and usually by well educated tech people who could do better (if they wanted) but, the sites are built on sharing knowledge. For some reason most of these are usually by professors and such. The same argument about skinning your computer could be
Was about to say you really don't need the file object but, then it sort of depends on your needs. If you want to use command parameters it makes it simple but, that can also be scripted. To answer your question really depends on a few things but, I'm assuming you want the ability for the shortcut to be dynamic? So, I scripted that into a right click function. You need to set the objFldr object Activation to visible area and set the transparency to 0 then still set visibility to no
