I don't know what documentation you're talking about but, the current documentation is at least for 3.0 or greater [link="https://www.stardock.com/products/desktopx/documentation/index.asp"]Stardock DesktopX Documentation[/link].
I'd really like to see a good manual and some really good examples on putting the whole thing together.
As for a better manual the documentation is pretty detailed and comparable to other SDK's. As for tutorials there's lot's within the

Yeah, I've got everyone fooled! It looks complex but, if you've worked with statements/formulas in Excel it's just a matter of finding things in the DesktopX Documentation and the WSH SDK Help File. Edit: SViz, yeah I had that problem with the menu bar gadget. Probably best to set the command object to a null value in the Exit Script if it appears again. Oh!
Oh, I forgot one thing. Before I went away last week I made a drop script based menu bar for my usb drive. The above script doesn't work when compiled to a gadget; so, I'm not sure how it will work in widgets or themes. I used an ini file but, persiststorage most likely will be the easiest way. Here's a script that uses persiststorage. Notice the additional function.
Const oBase = "objBase" Const oFile = "objFile" Const oFldr = "objFolde
I'll bet that if I paid more attention I could learn a bunch.
Same here!
Tycus, IMO there are many reasons why to keep it open but, jumping to deletion or locking can become habit forming. I was going to comment after first reading his post and went to see his DA account, which as skinhit so, eloquently put it demonstrated this users mentality. He was just bitching and not looking for help or any improvement. Perhaps the best reason to keep some of these threads is so n00bies can see what not to post. <img src="smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 align="absmi
Okay, here goes. Create three objects called objBase, objFile, objFolder respectively. objFile should be set up as a file shortcut object. objFolder should be set up as a Folder Shortcut Object. *Make sure you check the menu option. Set objFile & objFolder as child objects of objBase and set both to not visible. Everything will be controlled from the main script in the base object. Here's the script.
Const oBase = "objBase" Co
That's an interesting concept Zu.
Cool!
Yes, yes she is! Um you might want to add a line under the Left Click Function in order to suppress a subscript error if no item has been dropped. Like This
Function Object_OnLButtonUpEx(obj,x,y,dragged) If Not dragged Then On Error Resume Next 'Add here '--If folder, show pop up menu If UBound(fname) > 0 Then Call CreateSectionMenu() '--I

Depending on what your doing, why not use the "shortcut" object type? Under the General tab select change beside "Object Type" Choose shortcut in drop list box Choose Folder Check the Menu Location
Personally, I let guests use it under an extremely limited account. I'm not going to open up all of my files, etc. ATM I'm away and using my birth parents computer but, they know my knowledge far exceeds theirs. Guess it really depends on the guest.
Don't think there is a vbscript equivalent to send message. The best bet for detailed information about vbscript is MS Documentation [link="http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=01592C48-207D-4BE1-8A76-1C4099D7BBB9&displaylang=en"]WWW Link[/link]
Best wishes for a Happy Birthday. Hopefully you're enjoying it at home.
That widget has a pack of smokes listed at $7.50 a pack. Are they that expensive now?
Here in Canada they are. Actually the last regular brand I bought was $8.49 plus the 6% GST.

Here's my boy. Have to see if I've got one of his sister. Date's wrong on the picture, considering he wasn't born until '01 [link="http://sirsmiley.deviantart.com/art/Big-Sleepy-Kitty-26202282"]Sporticus[/link]
Yeah, I know the back end is really the developer's problem. I guess what could be construed as easy is relative to each user....and perhaps each widget? My problem with forms is they don't allow drag'n'drop which really limits them. For example you can't drag a folder onto a folder field or a file onto the file field; so, essentially this results in another step. I'm not big on ActiveX controls outside of the standard forms & preferences dialog and Skarn's Bits essentiall
So, in my never ending avoidance of learning xpath I'm working on a "File Sorter" Widget. Usually, I begin with a rough script and basic objects that will accomplish things, then plan out the rest after. Surprisingly, that took less than an hour.At this stage I'm deciding whether to use scripted object controls (Some of Skarns Bits) for user input or to just go with the standard forms/widget preferences options. Having read a few articles on Gui design, the primary goal should be

You guys all suck...thanks a lot for making me hungry! There was a nice small wood fired pizzeria on the other side of town. The original owner went to Italy but, it's gone down hill fast since they sold it. These are my favorites lately.
