if you play with a lot of anomolys, building a few more survey ships can really really pay off... Esp if you keep upgrading them... Faster-farther- better vision. This also helps find all the resources

Anyone else think it's silly you have to start a game via metaverse ? Is there some other differences ? I'd rather it just had some sort of cheat checker at the end of the game, and then you could post.
Good isn't that bad. Defense is very under rated, and if you get just one of the good defense techs going + the project that gives 20% bonus to defense you're in real good shape. I think the problem is the AI not using the good/evil techs well enough. IE when you play evil you're very strong but the AI's don't take advantage of the good side's defensive techs. (vice versa when you play good) The real problem is that trade isn't
Actually like this feature... If you upgrade a design, and planets building the old one, start building the new. What really needs to done is some more work on the governors so that you denote 3-4 different styles of planets . IE style 1 build this, style 2 build this, etc... Esp with rally points. You should be able to say : Planets building this, going here, should now go here.
1.0x didn't fix it for me. Not sure if it's video card, memory or processing. I only have 512 M ram, so since you're having it with 2 G, I don't think it's that...
Actually think using a tile is right on. If it bothers you, simply save your money and buy it outright on a planet with poor production.... It forces you to make big decsions, and is easy to track of the way it is, which is good.
buy factory, buy colony ship, set taxes high, set research 100%, spending enough to xeno labs in 1 turn buy lab, buy colony ship, start resarching engines buy factory, buy colony ship set spening to around 35/20/45, and keep building up home planet once you get good engines, redo colony ships, and go for sensors once you get sensors, build a few more survey ships and clean up on anomolys... (this assumes a large map...)</f
No exploits are needed the AI just isn't as good as GC1. Next game I play will be on suicidal. (been playing painfull) I think the root of the problem is the way military power is measured. I think the AI's tend to waste resources in a massive arms race every game, but the ships they build can be wiped out by a much smaller good navy. This gives the human player massive advantages : 1) AI ships are slow, and under powered
auto attack doesn't work too well yet... I agree that your better off defending your territory rather than your planets. It's much cheaper, and more flexible. A lot of times most of my planets won't have a shipyard or the silly fleet manager. (first thing to go on conquered planets too) You'll end up needing a lot less ships, and the
I play on gigantic maps, and have found the game get pretty slow. Does any know if going from 512 to 1024 M ram will help ? I'm suprised the requirements say only 128. Also ship combat can be slow - halting, and then quickly catch up. Is this memory, video card, or a driver issue ? Think the game has a memory problem personally, find that restarting helps a lot. (even though quitting the game can take 5 minutes...lol)</font
Then you really really need some sort of symetry button. It's sometimes hard enough to match things up. Has a feature like this been considered ? IE, add jewlry in pairs, etc using same size and opposite hard point.
This reminds me me of GC1. It seemed like an event that helped out someone who's down. Remember beating down a race, and all the sudden they had tons of corvettes zipping around causing my back feild trouble. probably the same here ? Where you way behind militarilly ?
There really is't any need for the research change. They've simplified the research tree to be linear, it's not like you have to research A,M, and O to get to B. (like GC1 or CIV4) It picks the next one automaticatically as well. (i geuss your change would clean up when it branches)
Except i think there's a bug where if you have the eyes, and you build ships with no sensors, their guard funtion still only sees at the short range. Anyone else notice that ?
Get "processing data " on firefox, and older version of mozilla. IE won't even log-in. (type user/pass, and it takes it but doesn't log in, just bounces to same screen) Any ideas ?
Is there a way to garuntee a good game ? (what races to pick, map size ect ? ) Just had another ez game with 5 opponents set to gifted, on a huge map. They didn't play like it.... Still moving slow and unable to muster any real threat. My fast colony ships and quick utilization of resources pretty much locked the game pretty early.
I think i'm up to date on the version, and their ships are still slow. What is best version ? Also I like playing against intellegent because there's no rigging. Too much pressure on higher levels. lol. (at least older games , haven't tried in 2 yet) (game playing now had 9 opponents, had dregin and icon refuge set to intellegent, rest on bright) Dregin had massive military, that i plowed right thru.... Seriously love the game, just h
Oh my point was are these things being worked ? I can understand how hard it is too balance some of these, esp speed / quality of ships so perhaps the AI is still in a primitive state ?
In my opinion the AI is no where near as good in 2 as the past games. Generally playing with 2-3 other intellegent civs, and not really having any problems winning. Lets see : 1) The AI doesn't use any speed. So when they get to you they're a generation or 2 of tech back. They're transports are sitting ducks as well because of this. 2) The AI doesn't guard anything. 3) The AI doesn't seem to value good ships, just masses o
alt-printscreens, isn't working for me. Unless I just can't find where they're getting stored. Are you sure that's how to take a snapshot ?
Check your processes. Could easily have spyware. I have tivo connected thru my PC, and more than once it's process was gobbling up my CPU.
A big change that i've thought about is that they're could be flavors of planets that each have advantages/ disadvantages which are also race specifc. IE say there's 3 different atmosphere type's, and each race loves one, can deal with another, and sucks in a third. Further maybe each type would give an advantage to research or production or weapons, or whatever. With enough tech you would be able to overcome problems by the "bad" type
How do you take a screen shot ? Don't see it in the manual or in game info. Thanks
1) Tooltips 2) Sync up the main map and the mini map automatically 3) Highlight enemy ships somehow 4) show autopilot on main map 5) have a popup similar to when a colony isn't doing anymore building for when a starport if full. (hate it when my uber production planet is sitting dowing nothing ) 6) allow upgrades to whole fleets without having to break them up
After getting EOU, I generally don't bother putting in sensors, but what I have noticed is that these ships don't always wake up correctly from gaurding when an ememy strolls by. My suspicion is that that code isn't using the EOU sensor radius, but the basic ships one. (pathetic two or three parsecs)
