See, but therien lies the rub. Oh sure you get great planets, but in a bustling galaxy full of races, you also have to fend off 3 or 4 races full time. If you are good, you do not. You get to pick and choose who you fight and when. So, if you play with 3 races, evil pwns. If you play with 9.... it can be a bad thing. Ive noticed ta trend with the AI that reinforces my thinking here... the evil races tend to die first in the l

Id say 50%of my ctrl-N results put me in a corner, with civilizations in each of the 3 connecting sectors. And of course there is the one civ in the center of the galaxy, far from the civs who were destined to make sure I stay in my corner, sigh. I don't play every hand, I know when to fold
Just keeping the topic alive so that anyone who might come out of hibernation with this knowledge could maybe share it.
After playing with 9 races and going hard core good, I now understand that those bonuses that sound weak weak weak are actualy strong strong strong bonuses. Its not really something you can see well until you have a bustling galaxy with lots of races however. In a game with just 2-4 races, the bonuses dont help much at all. So my latest analyis... if you play with lots of races, good gives you incredible advantage. If you play with few, go
I hate to spam the topic, Ive been limiting it to once a day to keep it alive. I know that someone has the answer, and I want the topic alive when they awaken from thier hibernation.
Surely someone can point us to some logical explanation of the scoring system?
Has anyone considered going to thier forum, accusing them of intentionaly allowing thier own game to be pirated, and then posting a link to where it can be bit torrented like every other game in the universe? Nothing like a taste of your own medicine, I say. But then Im a bastard.
Hmm... I have an up to date pc, with up to date drivers, and havent experienced one single bug or crash. So, from where I am standing, GREAT JOB ON AN OUTSTANDINGLY STABLE GAME!!!!! Its always interesting to see people instantly assume the game is horrible because thier pc wont run it. No, I am not accusing anyone of anything, Im sure the people in this post have great pc's with brand new drivers. I am also sure that this would be the exception ra
Hrmmm... IRL / Philosophicaly speaking I think Good has more advantages than Evil. Is not the Good Hero always the victor over the Evil Villain? While the villain spends his time with rituals, finding virgins to sacrifice and such to gain his impressive power, the hero comes along and shows him a holy symbol some other guy blessed for him, and the villain turns to dust. (That's just an opinion, plz dont flame it hehe) In game I am still looking for a reason to be good. I
Ran a search for the terms mods and metaverse and came up blank. In GC1, if I remember right, most mods were allowed in the metaverse, because the AI made use of the mods also. In GC2, what type of modding should I try to avoid if I want to post to metaverse? I really love to mod... Path of Ascension and The Underdark Wars for NWN are my babies, did some stuff for Civ 3 and Civ 4.... I would love to do some modding here but I want to keep it metaverse friendly
And yes, I have "skip leftover moves after autopilot" unchecked.... I wish it were that easy I also have the automatic end turn option turned off.... Strange that you must click "end turn" to make your auto pilots move.... isnt t
Why do you get more rewards for being evil? Because being evil is harder. Good civilizations tend to ally each other and keep from warring with each other, and tend to pic on evil civs. Neutral civs seem to like good civs better. Evil civs tend to get ganged up on and often war with each other (although they sometimes have good relations with each other.)
Is there any way to play with more than one custom race in a single game? My custom race vs another custom race? All races in game custom? Anything at all like that?
I havent been able to find a way to play with multiple custom races. I can play a custom race, but cant seem to play vs a custom race unless I pick a standard race. My suggestion... allow multiple races to be saved and used in games.
Standard apology for not reading all 11 pages if this has been mentioned before... How about a command that forces autopilots to finnish thier routes? (Other than the end turn button)
Ugh, I just realized this has probably been discussed 1000 times. Im having a hard time learning my way around the... unusual... structure of this forum, please be patient with me But hey if you wanna discuss it again Im all ears hehehe
Im really missing something here...maunal says you will be prompted when extra moves are available after autopilot... but , umm, autopilot moves after you end the turn, thus meaning you cant use the movement till next turn, and you get no prompt of any sort I can see. I feel like I cant see the trees for the forest here, this has got to be something I am missing.
Just once I would like to see a random event something like this: A refuge ship full of aliens has requested permission to settle on your world. Unfortunately they are all infected with a wasting disease. If we allow them to stay, we must research a cure, and fast! Good: We cannot deny them refuge in thier time of need.. +50 million tax payers, +5% Research Nuetral: We can help them locate another planet for refuge. - 50 BC Evil: Let them be slaves! Who cares
Eh, your right...almost all the posts were informative and ... at least nuetral in flavor. I guess I read it wrong. Reading it a second time it doesnt sound so much like "your an idiot for posting this over discussed question" like it seemed the first time I read it. Double my bad....
Well, I must say I am surprised by the hostility of some posts.... I've been reading forums for, oh, 10 years at least, and never seen a discussion of it, but then of course I know that such discussions have been had, and I just missed out. For the rest of you, very informative... I stand corrected on the Axis and Allies thing.... its been a long time but I could swear remembering hexes on the map. (Which is why we should get rid of the death penalty.. witneses suck <img src="ht
I posted this in the suggestion box, but wanted to see if anyone wanted to discus this idea... the ins and outs, maybe bitch about how the last time a game had this it was a board game called axis and allies, and the best video game out was "pong".... On a square grid, you can move a ship diagonaly and travel further than if you move verticaly. In addition to that, you could move diagonaly to the left and then back to the right " < " and travel to the same spot as if you
Heres one: Change the square grid to a hexagonal grid. This may not be easy, or it might be simple, depending on how deep in the engine this aspect is. Why bother you ask? On a square grid, you can move a ship diagonaly and travel further than if you move verticaly. In addition to that, you could move diagonaly to the left and then back to the right " < " and travel to the same spot as if you had only gone verticle... except in reality it is easy to
Im only 37, but I echo your words.
update your drivers, and get a slot fan for your gfx card... plus what ^^^ said.
While Im not quite as emotional about it, I completely agree. It is more difficult to win quickly, and the score should reflect that. Either way, I should would like to have a detailed explanation of the scoring system, isn't there one somewhere... anywhere?
