I've been worried about this for years. This is a HUGE reason why I stuck with Windows 2000.

I use TClock3 to skin my taskbar under Win2k (as WB doesn't do it), but one problem is that WB always interferes with the rebar grippers. Can we get an option to tell WB to simply leave the taskbar alone? TClock3 does a great job of skinning the taskbar already, but unfortunately it can't keep WB from fighting it. I know you aren't doing active development of W
For me Stardock became somewhat irrelevant when you dropped Win2k support. None of the new products work with it, and the increasing number of WB5 skins don't work well with WB4 (e.g. close/max/min buttons that are alpha-blended .TGA files show up with awful black borders). I've been using TClock3 on my taskbar instead of ObjectBar and I'm having to convert .TGA buttons with problems to magic pink, but it's a pain to have to do that for every WB5 skin
Considering I'm still running Windows 2000 (with WindowBlinds 4 and TClock3 to make it pretty), no, I definitely don't need Vista (and I don't plan on upgrading to it).
Neo Classic, for one, has the semi-transparent button on window titlebars. It's not all that great a skin (being the only one I've ever made), but hopefully it will help.
I'm giving it a try, but my 1% translucent TGA shows up as 100% black when I apply the skin. I've noticed that a lot of skins have this problem with titlebar buttons. Is this a Win2k thing, or is there something else I need to do to make it work (like a plugin or setting)? One thing I've been able to do is specify a solid image to place behind the titlebar text (which makes the window 100% grippable there) but that isn't all that great a sol
I'm building a WB 4.6 skin where one of the substyles uses dithering in the title bar to achieve a sort of alpha-blending for PC's that don't run XP (like mine ). I manage it by having every other pixel in the title bar bitmap set as magic pink (think of a cross-hatch pattern), and telling WB to tile the image. I don't know how it would look at lower resolutions, b
Booooo. No Win2k support Has anyone tried running this on a Win2k box yet? What happens if you do? - No change, looks the same as 4.6? - Skins look funky? - WB5 crashes? - Loss of skins? - BSOD? - Win2k gets screwed up and needs to be reinstalled? - PC punches you in the head before catching fire? You know, a lot
Well I actually prefer Win2k...no annoying wizards, it remembers your settings, and generally doesn't have all the dumbed-down stuff (and it runs faster, too). I'll be waiting until someone else with Win2k decides to be a guinea pig with WB5 before I go for it. My PC should meet any HW requirements (Pentium-IV 1.7Ghz, 1Gb RAM, ATI Radeon x800 Pro). Nonetheless, I won't be the guinea pig...
StealthOS is great, but the white text on dark background on ObjectBar got hard to read after a while (like the Vista skin, for which I had to make an OB theme to make it work -- bleh). I've settled on Alysseum - Charger for now, and it's really nice.
Any chance the devs can give us an idea of what WB5 features (like this transparency) will and won't work in Win2k? If it's at release time, that's ok, but I don't want to go and buy WB5 for my Win2k box and find out that the new cool features are XP-only...
You definitely don't want to try skinning ProDelphi (a profiler for Borland Delphi 2 through 7, and 2005). It seems to use some sort of library so that it looks like silver Luna, regardless of your OS. If you don't exclude it it doesn't work properly at all.
I have the newest WB rev (running on Win2k SP4), but the glowy-things that everyone keeps talking about don't seem to work. Also, when I apply a theme, none of the Explorer icons change like they do in the screenshots. Do these fextures require XP? I have IconPackager as well...is that required to change Explorer icons? I'm sort of fuzzy on what features will and won't work on Win2k <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Tongue.gif" border=0 A
For some reason the QuickLaunch gripper stopped working in OB 1.99d[b].002. The grippers appear in the various themes, but I don't get the dragging cursor when I move the mouse over them and dragging doesn't work. The problem arose when I started using OB-specific themes from wincustomize rather than importing from WB, and when I go back to WB themes the gripper still doesn't work. Using Win2k SP4, ATI Radeon x800 Pro.
Using ObjectBar 1.99d[b].002 and WindowBlinds 4.60.048. All themes I've tried work with ObjectBar, save one: the Longhorn "5203" style that's featured on the WB page. That theme results in OB not being skinned *at all*, just black text on a 100% white bar, with the standard green WinXP Start button (weird...) My system is as follows: OS: Win2k Pro SP4, newest patches CPU: Intel Pentium IV, 1.7Ghz RAM: 1Gb Motherboar
