To A Skylark, by Shelley

We can't do that now without going back on our commitment to let the government there be autonomous. If we thwart the authority we, ourselves, established, they won't trust us again. Whatever government that comes after will be considered the NEXT attempt for the US to make a puppet. If we don't thwart their will and behead the factions that are fighting, we won't be able to stop the violence there. It is happening under the nose, and I believe sometimes at the behest, of the Iraqi g
Waking or asleep, Thou of death must deem Things more true and deep Than we mortals dream, Or how could thy notes flow in such a crystal stream?
It's hard when people say things to you that you KNOW they'd be banned for if they said it to an admin. Between the 'muslims are gonna getcha' blogs to the When is it Proper to Slaughter Pigs? insanity, it just seems like an overall hateful, paranoid, chaotic environment. It doesn't do any good for me to tell people they shouldn't, say, be reposting whole articles from news sites. They just laugh it off. I will say this,
Nope, it was hidden from public view. After I posted the above statement, you opened it back up to the public. That doesn't change the fact that you, yourself, said it was okay to post other people's articles in case they MIGHT disappear in the future. If this blog should go, then so does yours.
We've had Muslims in the US for centuries. We've had active Muslim organizations in the US for a hundred years. The Red Crescent was founded in Detroit in 1919. We've had terrorism in the US for ages, yet Muslim terrorism only sprang up along with the problems in the Middle East. Be honest. Please. If Islam is the problem, why haven't Muslims been a problem here? Where is our bin Laden? Why is this problem imported, when we have mosques and the Koran here in abundance, along wit
"Thank you! You took the bait! Ok, Muslims are .5% of the population and we have how many?" None. Zero. You couldn't even name one. Please name one if you can. Name an American Islamic terror organization or an American cell that isn't tied to the same old organizations in the Middle East. If it is Islam, and not deeper problems in the Midd
"It's not the level of troops, it's the rules of engagement that is the real problem." Very true, but I am afraid that it's too late to do anything about it. We've already vested the government there with power over operations, and offered them the ability to protest our actions. We skipped crushing the militias and the baathist strongholds, an
Not the Islamic world, but the Wahhabi and Lebanese terrorist traditions. If Islam is the problem, WHY is contact with thise organizations necessary? Why doesn't terrorism spring up alongside Islam, instead of being imported from these particular places? If it is about Islam, you don't NEED Afghanistan, right? If Islam is to blame, and obviously we have had American-born Muslims for decades, we should be seeing our own organizations here in America. Why do Christians know how to mak
"He was able to at least pick out a "handful of people," right? I think he addressed your statement fairly well." Did he? I don't see any there that aren't tied directly to Afghanistan or other Middle Eastern terrorists. If Islam is what you guys say it is, where are the AMERICAN Islamic terrorists? Why don't we have any HOME GROWN ones? Why
"while the occasional loon is bound to pop up every once in awhile, even the "haters" aren't buying the paradise & 72 virgin argument. " Evidently Christians can put fertilizer bombs together on their own, but America Muslims couldn't figure out how to use boxcutters. They can't even really comprehend that Islam is hateful unless they go to thes
"Do you think that would bear any scrutiny?" I found three in a span of two weeks. You realize you could fill encyclopedias with the things the American news doesn't bother to report, right? I know people right now that aren't even aware that almost a million people died in Rwanda. You that confident in your to-the-minute knowledge of what goes o
"Perhaps because Bin Laden did not trust anyone else? Johnny Bin Walker? The Buffalo 7. Oregon. Michigan? Padillas." John Walker Lindh : Yemen, Pakistan. Pre-9/11 Afghanistan. No terrorist leanings before that, tied to Al Qaeda. The Buffalo Six : Yemini-Americans trained and indoctrinated in Pre-9/11 Afghanistan, tied to Al
"Better reread the rules." Stupid rules, frankly. Even with them you have the bombings in Mexico City recently. The ETA bombed Spain again last week . There was <A HREF="http://www.sp
"Would it make you feel better if I put (Wahabbi) in front of every reference to Islam? Is that what we are quibbling over here? Am I then "vilifying" Wahabbism?" You need to figure out what Wahhabism is. Without the Saud family, it wouldn't be around. It is the exact same process as the Catholic Church's use of religion in the Middle Ages. Th
"Millions passively enable the actual threat posed by mere thousands. you can't field signifgant force without supoprt and networking. Active opposition is a world different than passive tolerance." YOu've got the numbers here, where's the result? You have legal firearms. You have bountiful amounts of material to make explosives, even chemical
"It seems to me that the middle east and the "few other deeply troubled parts of the world" have one thing in common that the rest of the world doesn't have: an Islamic majority." One thing? Hrm. Most American slums have something in common. Using your logic I might say that if you allow minorities to reach a "critical mass" then it is inevita
"I am confused Baker - should I simply ignore the fact that the terrorists are overwhelmingly Muslims?" Should you ignore the fact that the average murderer in America isn't Muslim? Perhaps you could make the point that if more people were Muslim, there'd be fewer murderers? You realize you're making the exact same argument that people make whe
Islam in the UK - Sting finds Hate, Jihad, and Violence Britain Should Become More Muslim - A Plea for Dhimmitude Dhimmitude in the UK Can't Be that Bad Right? British Schools Serving *Only* Halal Meat - PC Gone Wrong Europe on the Brink of Takeover? Come on. You're saying you are just 'warning' us about terrorists? I've made strong arguments against your assertion that the problem is Islam, and that Islam itself is a problem. Over and over. Since y
I don't have a problem when you point out threats. When you vilify Islam, though, you're just showing ignorant bias.
" Until then it's on the books and the cabbies need to obey it or face charges." Then don't complain about abortion, or you can't complain when someone mugs you. Nice logic. Don't complain about CPS and 'medicine at gunpoint'. Don't complain about any of the host of laws that get abused every day. You aren't right, anyway. There are
"Hooey. We can't even get them to condemn the terror organizations. Hooey, indeed. Almost every major Muslim group releases a statement condemning attacks when they occur. You don't bother to look. For their part, they say the same things when we spend time condemning Muslims and ignoring atrocities against Muslims. <TABLE cellpadding
" GIDEON - I AM REPORTING THIS TO ADMIN - THIS ARTICLE WAS NOT DELETED IT WAS MARKED PRIVATE" I thought, according to the Jennifer1 standard of blogging ethics, that it was okay to republish other people's articles in full, in case they were to disappear. Isn't that what you said when I pointed out the fact that you had violated the copyright on
"What would your reactions be if these were Christian cabbies refusing to pick up Muslims?" The exact same. It may seem unsavory, but I don't think, and have expressed it, that we had any business telling people who they had to serve at lunch counters, either. I don't believe that government imposition is an answer to racism or bias. In fact, I
It isn't so much a matter of accuracy as it is skew. The Bush is always half stupid, as it were. There were days where there were big news stories, and on the front page of the NYT we find the fourth story about Plamegate that week... That kind of skew BREEDS the mistakes made here. There's no hesitation to self-indulge. They see a story that clicks their little trigger, and they leap to believe it, even ignoring facts. For papers where quality news reporting is the main in
