Go into the options menu. Click the Interface tab. You should see a Ship Designer heading. Uncheck the box which says 'Remove functional components when upgrading ship design.' Upgrades should no longer strip a ship of functional parts. :) For new designs, you can also save a ship design as a template, which means that you don't have to fiddle with cosmetic parts at all in later games, even if you want to add a completely differ

Looks good! I especially love the manual. :)
Um, well if all you have is a tablet, you could put a DOSBox on it and have a retro gaming week. :)
You should check out the community update . It fixes that and a whole bunch of other things, and I think the tech tree looks nicer?
"The reply that you tried to make got all jumbled on the way to our server. Please wait a moment and try again." [e digicons]:P[/e] I had a few paragraphs but I don't remember it all off the top of my head. In a nutshell, if I see negative feedback on a game, I can weigh that against the positives. If I see whining, I can weigh it against cheese.
Well we are the race that satirises aliens as being hell-bent on an Earth-shattering Ka-boom, when actually it's more likely that we'll accidentally (or intentionally) space modulate ourselves out of existence. Brace yourself universe, the humans are coming.
Bethesda should actually try releasing or updating a game which doesn't spew flame and die (more so when a player throws mods at it) before adding a paywall for mods. Skyrim is infested with bugs.
Original post updated! :) I've been playing/testing/modding another game, and I also do a bit of forum moderation now (it's not as glamorous as it sounds, honestly).
You could be like me. Combine the names of characters from different eras and genres of TV. :) For example, if you felt a certain affinity for Blackadder and Game of Thrones, you could go by the handle BaldrickStark. Your phrase of choice: "Brace yourselves - I have a cunning plan."
I think that one of the current drawbacks of Steam machines is that (currently at least) they won't run Windows games. So for those of us with an existing Steam library of Windows releases, it's not much cause for celebration. e: Hmm, It seems I overlooked the fact that Alienware put together a Windows 8.1 version. :)
I haven't played it but yes, I think Firaxis have hit a dry spell. When there was no real follow-up to XCOM: EW I thought, okay this is bad. Since then I've heard nothing good about their games. Civ has been done to death, quite frankly. Maybe the next instalment should focus on crypts, mausoleums and raising an undead horde. You could call it Necropolization. ;)
Congratulations, EA Games. You just rebranded yourself to Grim Reaper Games. Snuffing out one studio at a time.
I think the greatest weakness of the AI in GC2 was that it didn't hold anything in reserve. You could stomp its planets and it would react in a very limited way. A human player though, when faced with such an invasion, fights tenaciously. They can marshal their forces and send them where they are needed in strength, instead of diluting that strength with a number of limited-strength strikes against strategically-unimportant locations. When they go looking for a place to strike bac
I'm not wildly enthyusiatic about early access on Steam. I mean sure, there's the obvious advantages like automatic update acquisition, but I think that honestly, I've had more fun playing non-Steam early access games. Well just a few, really. It sort of splits your community in two, because you have people on the Steam forum, and then people in the developer's forum, and the two might never meet. If Valve figured out a way to embed the developer forums on the game'
You can access the web interface without needing the app, but if I'm being honest, having Dropbox integrated as a folder you can drag files to is very convenient.
I think you guys are complicating things way more than necessary. Here's what I need from a given weapon: Cheapness - in terms of the most bang for buck, regardless of space used. Basically, if a weapon is cheap, then I can mass-produce a ship design with just one or two. Though these ships may not be logistically efficient, they provide a cheap initial strike. In other words, losing ships can be part of a mixed units strategy. <
I have to agree with OShee. Weapons were a bit more exciting before the values returned to near-vanilla. Hells, over the years I've done a crapload of games with modded weapon values and the AI seemed to do fairly well. So, I smell a weapons mod reboot. ;) I'll echo what Mabus wrote above. It's been great to have you all on board. I know that it wouldn't have been possible otherwise! So, humble thanks from me.
Thanks Brad, that's good to hear. :) Looking forward to testing the new executable.
Last time the weapons were balanced, the ratios for damage/space and cost/damage looked fine to me. Sure, there are occasions when you would want to be able to fit one extra weapon, but once you leave the Tier 1 weapons behind that becomes less important. Look at the Google Docs spreadsheet , anyway. Perhaps there are some adjustments that can be made. The values for weapo
Hey guys, I'm glad to see that you're getting stuck in with some playthroughs. :) Happy holidays to you, and hey, maybe I'll clock up some hours over Christmas and New Year.
I wasn't able to duplicate the bug on my end. Is it a modded GC2Types then?
Is there an updated spreadsheet?
@OShee - as far as I know, you just need to use transparency. The PNG image format supports that. Um, obviously if you have the improvement image saved without the white background that would be great, otherwise you'll have white jaggies all around after taking out the white. Guys, I got a message back from Gaunathor a week ago. For some reason I didn't see it until today. Anyway, a couple of things that I think need clarification. The Hyperion naming ch
It's normal to see compatible ship designs from other races using the same hull prefix. As for the bug with dummy modules, I've only really seen that with mods - for example, if a ship component is removed from GC2Types.
Hey guys. Sorry I haven't been about much! I did the links though! :) I think the community update is coming along well. I honestly haven't played GalCiv 2 lately though. Just needed to play something else for a while, I guess. Hell, tonight I dug out SPORE and played that for a bit before realising there was a reason I shelved the damn thing. :P
