It's all very well saying this should be fixed or that should be fixed, but you aren't the ones who have to get it to work without unfixing other things along the way. There's five pages of forum posts with a range of proposed changes which go way beyond the scope of small updates. I'm not saying that those changes wouldn't do any good, but one of the chief complaints has been that the AI doesn't behave as it should. If you have the right guy interested in making the AI play

I think also that the AI doesn't value it's own high-PQ low-population worlds enough. If they must have a fire sale to boost their treasury, have them sell ships or worthless planets first, not that brand-new PQ 20 colony.
Co-op multiplayer against a tough AI maybe. I have no wish to get backstabbed by some dude who thinks it's funny.
GalCiv 2 has far better diplomacy, I remember in MOO2 if you demanded the wrong tech you would get a war declaration there and then. A flat-out refusal (like you get in GC2) is much more likely. The economy in MOO2 is simplistic. You can have everything so long as you have enough planets producing Wealth, or ridiculous enough production that you can introduce more taxation. Your fleet can cost nothing if you have enough starbases producing command points. In GC
I dunno about Civ V. I mean, the screenshots look cool and all, but the modding scene for Civ IV has just about got Civ IV to the point where the AI plays a passable game. I don't much fancy going back two steps in terms of challenge. The selling point in my opinion will be how soon the AI will give you a run for your money without relying on handicap or handouts to play well. If not at launch, then when?
You know, call me crazy or whatever, but it seems kind of backward that video cards these days have no redundancy in their cooling system! Granted, there may not be many places on a video card that you could fit an extra fan and still have it work, but it would be a nice idea if one of the card makers actually addressed the issue instead of making cards as cheaply as they can to melt as fast as possible.
It'd be cool if the AI would make researching and deploying Counter Espionage Centres a priority if they have lots of spy infestation. Obviously, that doesn't get rid of any spies which are already there, but it prevents any new spies from coming to take their place once they're nullified. Which means that espionage doesn't become an ever-spiraling spending war.
This list was obviously dreamed up by Dr. Lee .
But when I do get it, I will fullfill its destiny by changing the screen view to the Star Trek interface LOL.
Yes! LCARS style on a touch-responsive screen would be so cool. The marketing of this damn thing is terrible though. If it's got any kind of functionality, the campaign should be saying how you can use it to work and to play. Finally you have a device that can keep track of your appointments, let you tak
Ubisoft have stopped making the kind of games I want to play. If they want to make their games even less appealing, I won't be sad to see them leave the market when it doesn't work out for them.
Someone at Apple has obviously been watching too much Stargate Atlantis. :)
The attacker always gets an advantage because having cleared the planet's orbit of defence ships, they can land troops whenever and wherever they want. Attackers also get to use invasion tactics such as gas warfare to tip the odds more in their favour. A defender can improve their planetary defence capability by building Planetary Defence improvements, which may explain why your invasion fails sometimes. Finally there's a bit of randomness (the advantage factor for each
At the moment when the AI designs its ships it slaps components on at the default size. This means that some of the cool ship templates that you make for them are wasted 'cause you can barely see the extra components you added for all the Laser MkV's taped on. A component size slider (or even just a size modifier in the race's config file) would mean you could adjust the default size so the AI ships don't look like they've been doing steroids. Or I guess if you really
I have the AGP version of that card and it does not like the current drivers one bit. I'm running stable now with the 9.10 hotfix drivers (drivers only, no CCC) and no black-screening anymore.
If you like, you can use an empty transport to pick up your surviving soldiers after an invasion. Then click Details on the colony screen and abandon the colony. Hurray! It's now a lifeless ball of rock that your enemies can't use, and you have some extra people to dump on one of those worthwhile colonies you just invaded. It's not quite as satisfying as blowing up the planet, but it means that you can keep on rolling without gaining another colony to slow down your
All-X strategies do mean that your economy is efficient and less wasteful, but these strategies mean that your spending is mainly on one thing, and if you have to then change your focus to something else well then you're not really All-Xing anymore. An economy which gives you a bit of everything you need may be wasteful, but it allows you to progress militarily and technologically at a reasonable rate. And, you can set the rate of either to suit your needs without having to buil
You know actually, it's not the whole process porting of games from console that hurts sales of those games. It's failing to adapt the interface for mouse and keyboard, and maybe to an extent, not optimising it enough for PC hardware, that makes it bomb. Personally I don't mind too much if a game is better when played with a controller, since I have a chunky old Xbox controller with USB converter just for that. But not having decent mouse/keyboard response and configurabil
Okay. I have watched Stargate Universe long enough. It's a show that tries to be edgy but just ends up being a needlessly violent and dark show for the sake of breaking the nicey-nice mould. Whoever came up with this needs to take their happy meds, because this show bums me out like nothing else I've watched.
More then likely its the first planet theyve come across with that amount of power fed into the Gate without it blowing up in their faces. But just like theres thousands of Earth Like planets. Its safe to assume theres 100s if not thousands of Icarus like planets.
Ah, but if those planets have been mined by some overdressed aliens for hundreds of years, there might not be any planets with sufficient useful elements to be consi
Life was pants. There was about five minutes of actually interesting stuff, interspersed with a lot of rubbish. I'm normally a patient guy but SGU is so pedestrian in its plot development, someone's going to have to make an Abridged Series so I can actually watch SGU without throwing up my hands in disgust yelling 'Where's the bloody story?' One of the things I liked about SG-1 and Atlantis was that you weren't forced to wait a whole season for the main cast t
Military starbases can slow down incoming enemy fleets quite a bit, so long as their areas of effect overlap. This basically gives you extra time to get your ships to where they're needed.
The problem with turn-based strategy is that unless the decisions you make are trivially easy, there's a serious time factor once you start playing big maps. Granted, you could break the bigger galaxy maps up into interesting small maps that don't require so much average time per turn, meaning that you still have the big strategy element but you aren't bogged down with reports and numbers for the whole galaxy at once. Multiplayer galactic campaigns which twist and turn depending
Yes, like opening a door and finding a Chryssalid with the last of your AP for the turn. Next turn, you have two of the suckers. :P
Once you've created new stuff you need to load it as a mod, point GalCiv 2 at that mod folder, and tell it to use mods. You can find an example mod folder at \GalCiv2\Mods\Example
Evolution favours species which can adapt to new circumstances. If those circumstances mean that the one kind of fish which hasn't ranged to a new habitat lives and the others which live elsewhere die, then evolution doesn't necessarily favour creatures which spread to new habitats. Also because some species can interbreed, there's nothing to say that a less-ranged species can't pass on its traits when it mates with a more-ranged species. Doing so means that traits such as
