The larger-hulled ship is designed to last longer in a fight. This means that any weapon emplacements have to be reasonably protected against attacks. Then you have the issue of supplying power and/or ammunition to this weapon during the battle. Also because the larger ship isn't necessarily as maneuverable, in order to supply the same amount of firepower the weapon may need to be emplaced twice (though without necessarily duplicating the energy/ammunition transfer system

The Colony Manager in GC2 is a bit slow to load, and when you buy or update something on the list of colonies, it reloads and starts you back at the top. Not so inconvenient when you only have a screen full of colonies, but when you have 200 it's a pain to scroll back down to where you were. So the following would be useful, assuming a similar screen would be in GC3: Some way to filter the list so that, for example, only colonies currently producing a Manufacturing
MMORPGs offer you the chance to repeat the same old tired mechanic for forty to a hundred levels or until you get sick of them. The only way to actually enjoy them is to put your brain in neutral and try not to think about why you're playing.
Please check the date on the original post. I'm all for freedom of expression but.... there comes a point when a topic has run its course and.... unless you have something new to say, you're going boldy.... where many have trod before. [e digicons]:P[/e]
If it happens between turns it could be the result of one of the game's random events. If you look at the bottom of the debug.err you'll see what was logged right before the crash.
Unreserved feedback can be important when you're thinking about the next major instalment in a space strategy game.
Those weapons are massive. My eyes about popped out when I saw the size of that axe/halberd, and the ones that come after that are bigger still. I like the look and the music track is catchy, but I don't get a particular feeling of I should go buy this game now! It does need proper marketing to get noticed and succeed, but if the challenge is what keeps gamers coming back then it could be very successful in its target demographic. Problem is, not everyone
It does work on XP, but you need .NET 2.0 as well.
Fences are pure genius. I knew I needed something like them, even though I don't have a lot of dekstop shortcuts. Great job!
Still, the impression that was created in my mind was that there would be another update byond 2.02 so I'm just curious if that is still the case (or if I was even correct to think that). There are certainly some things that could be "fixed" if Stardock is inclined to do so.
Looking at this from a purely fiscal perspective, giving the customer more value for their money may not seem the most logical course of
It'll take as long as it takes. That's probably not very reassuring right about now, but so far GC2:TA has had more post-release fixing goodness than any other game I can think of. In contrast, there's been no official patching for Civ IV: Beyond the Sword since about June of last year.
The problem with resolutions sometimes is that we set our expectations too high at the beginning of the year. So when we don't live up to those expectations we're naturally quite disappointed. In my opinion, unless some of the resolutions are not that hard (in which case why not just put them on a regular to-do list) it's better to shortlist just a few of them and work out in detail how you're going to do those, especially if they tie in to one another somehow. If you some
Novel writing doesn't have to take hours of your free time. But if you want to start cranking out pages, you need to do some each day or it once again becomes a 'One day....' item on a list somewhere. That's not to say you can't stop and start, but actually putting the words onto the page requires you to be sitting at the keyboard. I generally find that there's only so much stuff that can fit in my mental horizon and then I need to start writing or at least making n
I would check with the doctor if you continue to feel unrefreshed after having had enough sleep. A blood test can determine if you're suffering from, for example, hypothyroidism.
In many areas GC2 has exceeded my expectations, and yet because of those last few things that need fixing, I'm disillusioned enough to put it aside and play something that doesn't quite meet my expectations but doesn't get me obsessing about Teh Last Bugz. Don't get me wrong, it's got playability in spades, but it's difficult to settle down and play the game when you have to avoid using feature X because it's broken.
I don't really want Windows. But whether I want it or not, it's necessary in order to play the vast majority of games made for the PC. I'd happily have a dual-booting system if there were two operating systems that competed for PC titles and each had their own merits, but that fiction has yet to become a reality. The reason I don't like Windows is that it just doesn't quite deliver what I want from an operating system. There's a limit to how much I
They tap into zero-point energy, and given that doing that in our universe causes all sorts of problems with exotic particles, they only extract it from the micro-universe that is contained within the module. As more energy is extracted, the module gains entropy and eventually it becomes so difficult to get energy out that it might as well be depleted. Quite how you create a micro-universe in a container in the first place without violating the laws of thermodynamics in our own
The ship files in the folder you mentioned should all have a number in their filename, this corresponds to the ship style used. It's not perfect, but you don't have to remember which style a particular design was made in, just which number corresponds to which style.
I'm playing as Terran Alliance (2.02) and suddenly the mega event occurs were the others decide I'm too big of a threat and all declare war on me....this is really stupid as I'm not even the most powerful.
Fire your ambassador. He obviously wasn't doing his job. If you really were Teh Underdog in that situation, nobody's going to scream at you for reloading. Maybe the code has a > or a < that's pointing the wrong way, or p
I don't think it was necessarily a bad thing that Michael kept coming back. I doubt he beat Apophis, Tanith or Ba'al in that category, anyway. I think if any villain character used up more than their fair share of cat lives in Atlantis, it was Kolya. Michael's main flaw was unchecked arrogance, if he'd really gone to ground after his defeat instead of making a desperate snatch for Teyla and her baby, he wouldn't have gone for a bungee jump without his bungee cord. Oops
Well, think about the sort of tactics that you employ to wipe out AI players. You're not going to be able to do 'that' or worse, you will get yelled at if you do 'this' when playing against a fellow meatbag. Quite annoyingly, different meatbags will disagree about whether 'this' or 'that' should be allowed. That's what I mean by having multiplayer designed in from day one. Adding a few menus and buttons doesn't make a game a good or even passable multiplayer experien
It's got a fifth-dimension cargo hold! ;) There may have been an overflow when calculating the space available, that's all I can think of.
Having a larger debt limit would mean being able to avoid the treasury penalties for more turns. I'm not saying it wouldn't be ideal for larger maps to allow for much larger treasuries before any penalty sets in (it would!) but one of the ways of avoiding these limitations is to spend down to the last bc.
It would make sense for the debt limit to increase as your economy grows. Things like multiple ship upgrades and rush buying can easily take more than ten or twenty thousand bc, so a bigger debt limit means that you can afford to do 'Upgrade All'.
The priority lists for starbases don't save (or don't load as the case may be) with saved games. I've submitted this as a bug report because on particularly large maps it can take so long to get through a turn that the usefulness of priority lists diminishes because the next time you load your game you have to go around all the starbases and fix their lists again.
