In my opinion, in the game, the best alignement is neutral, it boost your moral (wich can indirectly boost your loyalty), it boot your trade (boosting your economy) and boost ground force power against non-neutral parties. Love that alignement. Good and evil might be useful in some galaxies, but I prefer the neutral path, weapons and defense in the normal tech tree are strong enough for me.

How I see the gouvernements working in GalCiv2 is rather more simple than most would suggest. You've got the population wich pay taxes in order to receive services (health, education and ect.). Now some would love to micromanage everything but let say that by taxes we control both the social expenditure and the taxation level (After all, this is a strategy game not a economic sim with a side of war (for that go to Supreme Ruler 2010, now THAT is one co

What I usually do is build a "interdiction fleet". A fleet of small (or bigger) ships with good attack and some basic speed (2+) but no need for sensors of life support. Put that fleet near the planet and put them as Sentry or Guard. (Sentry activate the ship if there's a "Non-Allied" ship that come within sensor range. Now I know that a ship with no sensors would be easy to bypass so what I also do is build a cargo or whatever and fill it with sensors

Still waiting after EBGames here in Montreal... Won't purchase elsewhere because I've paid the game in full already (52$CND) and well a game @ 104$ is just insane... I HATE EBGames right now.... oh well... Still proud to be Canadian...

"All told, however, Galactic Civilizations II should begin effectively killing strategy gamers' minimal social lives on February 21, 2006." That's a Civilization line that is!!! Good job! Excellent review.

The dices are here to represent the unpredictable. Imagine, the cocky fighter pilot doing a bold manover and destroyed a frigate (or whatever). The dice are there to "recreate" the lucky and not-so-lucky aspects of warfare that are by nature barely or completly unpredictable. Another exemple: The battleship is taking quite a beating but still holding against 3 frigates but then a very nervous and stressed crewmember press a worng button and

I've got to agree with Popup Target. Whitout wars, we would be nowhere near where we are now. No planes (I know the first planes were developped by civil means, but the real beginning of planes as a real mean of transportation began after the First world war (where planes where introduced), No nuclear reactor, no smoke detector, no MRIs (all of them became of fruition form the nuclear theory which was developped into pratical sci

TotalGaming.Net does the same thing... PayPal is supported when the betas are live but it still ask for a credit card... what it says exactly is: "You must add a credit card to complete this purchase because either the seller does not accept eChacks, or there is a problem with the back account on file. Some payments, like instant and immedite payments, require a credit card" Now I've checked and there's no problem with my bank account (

Hi, me again. I'd been waiting for PayPal to come back as a purchase option but now that it has I must say I'm desapointed. To try to buy via PayPal dosn't gives you more possible purchase options but exactly the same. (Credit card) I thought the whole point of using PayPal was to be able to pay directly form you bank account. When trying to buy, PayPal says the site dosen't support e-check (or what is it called) and therfore ask me for credit card...

I really believe that it would be a good idea to have permanant homeworld start system. Would give more backbone to the "believability" of the galaxy. The home start system permanant and the rest random... Tho I guess that i could get long and complicated to implement (artisticly long and balancing complex)
