The downside is that it's only easily do able for ships that are freshly made, not existing ships. that's not exactly true either. in the ship waypoint governor, you can select "none" and a waypoint. this isn't perfect, because it grabs all ships that aren't in orbit or all ready moving to a waypoint (including those on auto survey or guard).

oh yeah, winning on maso... it's supposed to be hard. if you're trying to get metaverse medals like the good folks above me, the advise is very good. on war, ships, combat, and upgrading early in the game, war isn't a huge threat. unless you're really out of your legue, your biggest concern with early wars should be preserving your mining bases. i feel it's too difficult for the AI to build up a real invasion force to make it much of a threat, and militaries are all so

Oh yeah! Pop. approval penalties cap at -80%, which occurs at 25.0b people you may also want to mention that only planets of quality 10+ can have a population of 25B. quality 9 planets cap at 20B. check the wiki for exact numbers https://www.galciv.wikia.com/wiki/Population#Rough_Numbers i've found games where i have fewer high quali

okay, now i can say what i came in here to say. I CAN'T FREAKIN WAIT i remember brad saying there would be things no one expected. i definately didn't expect the planet type addition. i'm really looking forward to it. the glipmses of the new art look great too. i may just have to get a new PC around xmas to get this and other games up to their full visual potential. it's obvious when a compnay's employees are making a pr

Fixing a trade exploit. Right now, if you offer, say, Laser 3 and 4 in the same deal, the AI will complain. But it'll take them separately - if you sell it Laser 3 and THEN 4 in the same turn, it'll pay for both. It should be able to see what's going on there. it's not a bug. if you trade laser 4 first, it won't want laser 3 at al

Unfortunately I cannot create new posts with this excellent forum software, so I post this here and hope someone from Stardock reads it: pre-order using PayPal This came up a lot of times at the forum, but I didn't find an answer yet. How can I purchase Stardoc products without using a credit card. As you know, credit cards aren't that famous in

Typo Correction... I meant to write: "Multi-thousand means multiple of thousands and my last view of this poll indicated it did NOT go over 2000 votes." in the english language, any number over 1 is considered plural, including decimals. so 1.001 thousand votes may accurately be referred to as "thousands of votes".

But it's irrelevant because the sales of GalCiv II so far exceed our expectations and THAT base, regardless of whether there's some extra "untapped" market, is more than big enough to justify future titles without multiplayer from an economics point of view. The only justification for mulitplayer would be for reviewers. wrong. you'd also have

you know, you may have had a more productive poll if you'd asked what people felt the least strongly about. i voted for tactical battles, but most of the options on there were great ideas. Another feature that was surprising to see so high was more diplomacy. The expansion pack will have more diplomacy but clearly future versions of the game should take a fresh

curiosity about this stuff led me to bootskin (i did have time to research it). free for non-commercial use. for more times than i can count now, YOU GUYS ROCK!!! this makes me want to buy more of your not-free stuff, purely as a gesture of gratitude.

don't have time to research this question myself; watching this list as a reminder to do so when i get back to town. would these programs support a graphical overhaul at startup? think about the way the laptops looked starting up in the movie Hackers . to paraphrase Dane Cook, "why not me? i want that."

hmm... just got 1.2. so this may be moot very shortly anyway. trying to get your mod integrated with most of the example mod; i copied the example/data folder and the models for the bonus structures, but left out the new races and UI stuff, into the new(?) mods/default folder. i've got the blanks and offsets showing up, but not the jewelry hulls... hmmm... ran the BAT in the mod and the default folder. i don't need jewelry-hulls that badly, just not sure if it's due to the

i really like your example mod.... but.... as cute as your new races are.... i had to restore the original raceconfig file to be able to play it. SORRY! i just think the original races are so much fun i can't bear to play without them. that said, now that the release is out i'

oh yeah, as far as evaluating your ships: "weaker ships" is also kind of subjective, and it isn't just about ships. i've played games with lots of cheap, disposable fighters making up my military. i usually perfer building medium+ sized ships wtih lots of defenses. i'm not sure if you're playing 1.1x or 1.2b, because the combat rules are different. in 1.1x, your ships are more effective when they're faster and pure offense (at least, that's my feeling). you don't need a lot

What exactly do you mean by "weaker"? Do you mean fewer ships? Or, a good number of ships, but the ships are inferior to the ships of the other AI players? I suppose it could be both. hi again Toranaga Sama, anyway, determining how you stack up to an opponent is a pretty subjective thing. there have certainly been a few times when i

yep. i've seen a few. ahem, it was nearly impossible for me not to refer to the Yor as "cylons" when this game first came out.

unless the map settings are mod-able somewhere (maybe english.str?), i'm pretty sure the tedious way is the only way to go. making them all 10x more costly is pretty easy tho, just throw a 0 at the end of every tech. that's pretty easy. imagine my annoyance at wanting to introduce a steeper curve, without actually increasing the cost of early techs too too much... i'll probably just go the 10x method, make it way easier on myself.

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. It will always hold a special place in my heart, I love the quotes. not my first TBS, but SMAC was probably my favorite overall. agreed, the flavor text in that game was amazing. the movies in that game weren't anything special visually, but the constant quotes from techs and planetary wonders were amazing. <br

Further, the AI seems to ignore building Super Projects and Trade Goods that don't have an internal name they recognise from the original game. Not consistently - sometimes they might build one or two "new" types early in the game, but in fact they very quickly give up on this and nearly all social building once militarisation occurs. As a consequence the AI's infrastructu

lukoil, the stats on the map are not the same as the stats of a ship in the ship designer due to offense and defense bonuses, and you haven't shown us anything by showing the stats for a fleet. i've built fleets far stronger than that. and considering that it looks like yours are loaded up on capital ships, mine would probably win. i use a few capital ships and lots of fighters. they die quick, but my larger ships typically make it through battles unscathed. even still, each ship can only shoot
