Yep, I have this same issue. As long as you don't switch to windowed and then back to maximized it's fine. There sure it a lot of obvious bugs in this version of WB.

OK, great test... one last thing to test. Start playing a video or something and see if the speed gets bumped up to the full value or higher then your 798MHz. Just want to make sure it can go higher then that under load... Thanks. Also, others can follow the same test... it could just be something in the AMD Turion camp... who knows.

Yeah, that's what I thought. If you go back and reread my op you'll see what I mean. Speed stepping has nothing to do with task manager cpu utilization (well, it does, but not in this perticular case). Anyway, speed stepping is the CPUs ability to switch from full speed (in my case 2.0GHz) to 800MHz if the extra cpu speed is not needed. Basically if the laptop is idle the speed will be 800MHz. Only Intel Pentium M (Mobility) and AMD Turion to my knowledge do the speed stepping. I think the Celeron and Semperons do as well but only on laptops. Pentium 2 didn't have this feature if I remember correctly. Yes, I do think it's weird as well... especially since I've tried disabling perpixel and it still does it. If I totally unload WB5 then it's fine. It's weird, but anoying. Also the cpu time in task manager bumps up every few seconds to 2-5% wi

Everyone that has a laptop needs to check into this problem. I contacted SD about this and they have yet to duplicate the problem which is getting kind of old. Anyway, everyone that's got WB5 on their laptops needs to set their Power Management to Laptop (to allow the PM to throttle their CPU speed) and then look at the CPU speed (Right click on My Computer and Properties) with WB5 unloaded and then with it loaded. Just like the title states. With the new 009 version the time from the welcome screen to the actual desktop has increased by about 20-30 seconds.

Problem with having Task Manager on the graphing tab and clicking and dragging the window arround. The graphs stop updating until you stop dragging it arround and release the mouse. After further testing I found out that you can just click the titlebar and also trigger then stopping. This is happening with the Cyclopse skin... haven't tried another skin to see if that's it or not. I have tested it with WB unloaded and XP updates the graphs all day long while you drag it a

OK, new 009 version fixes the skinning issues Neil, but the submenu/expansion arrows are still apperent on non-subitem containing links. In other words, the arrows you have for folders in Favorites are also listed for individual links which obviously don't have any subitems in them.

SD should have thought of that. That's why we're finding so many problems with WB5 right now. People try weird things that "The Programmers" never thought people would or need to do. Programmers and testers think differently... the difference is that Programmers know the limitations they have built into a program and testers don't. As far as I'm concerned WB5 is a step back from 4.6 right now. The damn thing can't even skin the command prompt. What the hell is that about. I would have not released WB5 until it met ALL of the capabilities of 4.6 and added to the list. Either that or SD should have called it WB.5

Umm, yeah, safe mode works well too. You also need to go through your registry and take out the Stardock and Windowblinds listings in there. Yep... it leaves those arround as well. Console Windows Fix = Skin the command prompt As for the speed issue, it's definatly WB5. Whenever you unload it it goes back to normal speed stepping. It also doesn't matter what skin you use... you can even disable per pixle and it still locks the cpu speed at the max. Here's another bug in WB5 006b version. When you have a skin that has a wallpaper associated with it, on every restart of the PC it reapplies the wallpaper, but doesn't change that setting in display properties. In other words... let's say you have background set to abc.jpg in display properties, but the skin has a wallpaper it applies when you apply the skin which will be called yourloginname.jpg. That menu is not skinned. If you look at the border of the menu it's stock WINXP. The color has changed, just like mine does, but the actual layout of that menu doesn't skin. Look carefully at another menu (at the edges) and you'll see what I mean.

No, the arrows only appear in IE. And since when is Favorites a toolbar? That's a new one on me. What's even funnier is that even "non-pixel alpha whama zama whatever" skins don't skin it. Even funnier is that WB4.6 skinned Favorites ALL DAY LONG!!! So, as far as I'm concerned it's a WB5 problem.

The Favorites Menu issue is still there in 006b. It doesn't skin and it has submenu arrows on items that aren't folders or for that matter have subitems. There was another post I made on here that had screen shots of this problem.

I had to exclude Real Player, but you've fixed that... thanks. What's really killing me now is the CPU speed stepping problem. I've currently unloaded WB5 because it's causing these problems... hopefully you'll be able to implement a fix shortly. I know it sounds like I'm just complaining, but I am truly just finding WB5 a step back from 4.6 rather then an upgrade. Maybe 5.1 will be better. Somehow I knew I should have just waited.
