I would also try clearing the cache as CorkyO pointed out. This has solved many DesktopX problems for me. If I had the link for instructions on this I would give it to you, and yes, it really does clear up many DesktopX problems. After the cache is cleared then startup DX and load your favorite theme and everything will most likely then wotk just fine. I'll see if I can find the link since, knowing how to clear the DX cache is essential.

And, finally MsPooma since I'm just kinda of doing a brain dump on this. When setting screen resolution it is also important to check the color bit depth. A screen display that is set to 1280x1024 at 16bit color depth will have more pronounced jagged edges than a screen display that is set to 1280x1024 at 32bit color depth. Many graphics cards can be set for either mode. So please make sure, if you haven't already done so, to check the color depth setting on your graphics card and set it at

I will share this one other item with you. Sometimes when I'm having system glitch problems that I just can't track down and figure out how to solve, I've done this with some success. I reach down and hit my power switch off without going through the Start menu and selecting shut down. This will cause Windows to record an abnormal termination. Oh it just dawned on me that there is one most likely candidate that needs to be fully eliminated. Most display problems when they occur can be traced to the graphics adapter, the display driver, or the video screen. We can rule out the video screen, the graphics adapter is probably okay, but the one area that Nvidia is known to have some problems with is 2d graphics. Hi MsPooma. I was hoping someone would see this and have an answer for you. All I can tell you is that I use an ATI card and although ATI recommends the same thing I just downloaded the new drivers and installed them and it worked without a hitch. I can't tell you though if doing the same thing with an Nvidia card would work.

I thought maybe vrag, I think that's his name, might have a better handle on this. He's solved some pretty tough problems. From what I remember, I think, the time stamp for these Windows XP Service Pack 2 releases should be the same. That's why I'm suspicious about the time difference. It makes me think your system files have been altered. But, I'm no expert so I'm hoping someone with more skills than me will look at this and know what to do. What version of Norton do you have 2006?

There shouldn't be a time difference. Yours is 2:56:49 am. Mine is 2:00 pm. Do you have a really good anti-virus program? Check with some of the Sysops. You might be able to remedy this with a really good anti-virus program. If not you might need to do a complete system restore including the boot sector.

Yep, its being discussed in a couple of threads. Sometime around last weekend everyone was 2005 years old and the list of their recent skins was a mess. Now some personal pages are unavailable. Seems like there's a database link error. Oh well.
