I finally won my first Alliance Victory. I kept checking back with the races with the same idealology and renewed open border and non aggression treaties. Eventually I got an alliance with the Blue Lady. The next turn I defeated the last hostile race. The only other victory I have had was a conquest one. They could do more to note your victory. Some meaningful dialog and video would help. Former Gal Civ's had them. They could do more with the planetary victory. I liked

I'll answer my own question. I found out the treaties only have to show up on your side of the table to work. I got an open border treaty then an alliance with the Blue Lady and she is really nice.

I have read the open border advice. It shows up in my list of things to trade with but not in the other race's items. Do I just give it away for nothing? Finished my first game. Was doing fairly well creating a relationship with another race. We had a couple of common enemies. As soon as we defeated these common enemies this race declared war on me! I have found it impossible so far to create alliance. This was my typical victory in the previous Gal Civ's. The Altarian Resistance Lady really frustrates me. I work on the same ideology. All she does is get pissed about my ships and starbases in her space even though she is doing it to me. Alliance appears to be way up the tech ladder which does not seem realistic. Anyway, overall enjoying the game so far.

Actually the card in the Alienware Amplifier is a GeForce GTX 980 4GB. I feel But I appears the problem is solved. I downloaded and installed the Nvidia utility, GForce Experience, it downloaded and installed the right driver. I played for 2 hours and no freezes. Just hope it works when not connected with the Amplifier. Now I just have to learn the mechanics of the game play. Still on the tutorial. :Alantor

Game Freezes in GalCiv III Support GalCiv3 Forums

I am running this game on an Alienware m17 r2 17" Laptop. Playing the tutorial I get random freezes. I have to go to task manager and shut it down. Then I can reload. I have game save on every turn. I subscribed to Driver Detective and got the latest drivers. I also opted in to v1.02 and still am have the random freezes. I am enjoying the game when it works. Any Advice? Still playing the tutorial. Also I have windows 8. :Alan

Yes I guess long distance communication could exist before actual face to face contact.

Commniication without Contact in Galactic Civilizations II Stardock Forums

My first comment about GALCIV2 is that how can I have communication with all the alien races even before I have contact with any? I remember playing MOO2 and MOO1 and all the CIV games for that matter communication happening ony after contact. In MOO2&1 I remember even losing contact and regaining it later. I think this would be a minor improvement. Also does not Stardock get in trouble with Paramont with all the Star Trek references? :Alantor
