So here I was minding my own business in my own little corner of the galaxy and vega pops in and lets me know how nice I am. Not that nice, apparently.

This one's cropped up with the latest patch. I reported this in the "known issues" thread, but felt this needed a bit more exposure and info, as it's a game-breaker for me. Basically, regardless of whatever I set in the options, the game appears to have auto-turn and skip remaining automoves enabled. Before, I was perfectly content to just hit the Turn button after I was finished, now it rarely gives me that option. It doesn't even blank o
Got a new issue cropping up with the latest patch. Clicking "Build Ship" while in planet view sometimes triggers an end of turn (as if I clicked the turn button at the lower right). EDIT: Correction, not just with the build ship button. Just trying to close out of the planet window (clicking done) triggers this as well. For the record, enabling/disabling auto turn doesn't seem to have any effect on this behavior.
Play the "Dread Lords on Parade" scenario on a gigantic map. Fun fun fun.
Depends on the circumstances. I once wiped out a minor race just because I had few planets in my territory and needed another ship producer, and they were sitting on a class-27 world, so I rounded up a couple fleets of frigates, wiped out their defenses and landed troops. It was also revenge for polluting my space with influencer starbases. God I hate that.
You want an inexpensive way to cool your rig? Buy a few cans of compressed air, and spray out your PC every couple weeks.
Not completely sure if this is documented in the manual, as I've still yet to read through the whole thing (been playing too much to do that, lol). On each one of your worlds in detail view, at the top it has the shields, hammers and beakers, there's a little button at the upper right you can click to have that world focus its efforts on one of those three. In my last game, I had several low-class worlds devoted entirely to research, with no
Couldn't just enabling vsync largely solve the overheating issue? My GF6600GT with vsync disabled routinely breaches 150fps in this game, vsync limits it to 75. Either way, my video card rarely shows signs of overheating, which is strange in and of itself, because any other game I play on this rig causes my video card to overheat. I have to play Civ4 with a desk fan blowing cold air into the case to keep my card from overheating, yet with GC2 it's no p
No idea if this has been suggested yet, but I'm throwing it out now before I pass out. In the ship designer, I'd like a button that lets me undo setting ships obsolete, same with deleting ships altogether. I just blew half an hour of designing from misclicking "obsolete" on the ship I just designed.
I ended up just letting EB ship the game out, kept my preorder, which'll arrive Monday. Makes little sense, I know, but I'm using this as an excuse to make up all my classwork this weekend and to get my system prepped for installing it Monday.
My bet is Monday at the earliest.
It'll be Monday. Shipping deliveries on Saturdays cost a lot extra (I looked up the prices), so EB naturally doesn't do it. Put in perspective, it would cost at least as much as the game itself, up to 2x the cost of the game, just to have them deliver it on Saturday (UPS rates; EB doesn't ship FedEx for next day air in my experiences).
I don't know if a search function would consume bandwidth any more than loading every thread that could be remotely relevant into different tabs would. OTOH, a search function would prostrate a server's processor and ram were it inundated with requests. Didn't civfanatics once disable theirs for a time after Civ4 shipped? Anyway, as a temp workaround, wouldn't Google site-searching work? site:forums.galciv2.com whateve
I would think the +20 modifies your base soldiering stat, so you won't see it as an "upgrade" in the same sense that a technology would upgrade that stat. Course, I still don't have the game yet, so I can't give you a certain answer. That's just my logical assumption.
Dual-core CPU?
Bah. I did all my classwork early this week in expectation of it arriving TODAY, instead I have to wait until Monday.
I don't think EB is at fault here. They can't ship it until they get it, ya know. Estimated shipping date this time is for tomorrow, which is fine I guess. Looks like it'll arrive Monday, which wastes my whole damn weekend.
A good one.
It looks like definite tomorrow for the preorders. Mine no longer says "waiting for game," rather it's on "open" and the order itself notes the likely shipping date is the 24th. One question: does UPS/FedEx deliver on Saturdays? Cuz if not, I'm gonna bump down my shipping to 2-day else I waste three bucks on nothing.
If they had to count on income from gc2 to stay afloat as a developer, yeah. They've said multiple times that they're in a unique position as their primary source of income doesn't come from making games. Hence they want exposure. Speaking from personal experience, "ads on the right websites" don't mean squat as who honestly browses without using adblock anyway?
Yeah, no major bugs yet, considering I'm stuck on frickin' backorder.
EBgames has the game on backorder. Will this affect collector's edition releases for people who preordered? I preordered over a month ago and still have yet to even get any sort of lip service from eb customer service on the matter.
Same. In some cases though, I've had games shipped from EB without them updating their system until several days after the fact. They're almost as unreliable as the shipping companies' online trackers.
Still waiting for ebgames to ship the darn thing. I expected an email from them with a tracking number when I woke up this morning.
I bought it from EB (rather than buying online) because I have a couple EB gift cards to use up. If I didn't have them, I'd have bought the online version. I'm starting to think I should've done that anyway just so I'd get the game Tuesday instead of whenever the heck FedEx/UPS (EB won't tell who's handling the shipping until after it ships, bah) decides to show up Wednesday.
