Bah. I'm having withdrawals from a game that hasn't even been released yet.

Your suggestion would make more sense if the player would be required to reverse-engineer the tech, losing the traded ship in the process. So if you get a "hand me down" from a more advanced civ, you don't automatically "learn" the tech just from being exposed to it, but you'd have to actually take it apart to reproduce it.
EBgames has it for $40 + tax and shipping. Came out to $50 and some cents with 2-day air shipping. I upgraded the order to overnight air yesterday for an additional $3, cuz my patience is wearing thin.
Reminds me of Conquest: Frontier Wars. Players could attach one of several Admirals to a fleet (only one per fleet though) for additional combat bonuses against a specific enemy or ship type, and aside from general orders, you could pretty much leave the fleet alone, as the Admiral AI would handle most of the details.

It stands to reason that if you're using an earlier version of the game executable, that no matter what other game resources you have preloaded, you're still effectively running an older version of the game code.
Huh. I don't really see the Drengin as the classic Trek Klingons. Even those Klingons were obsessed with honor, or rather, reputation. They only waged war because they felt they had something to prove, to themselves and to the galaxy. TOS Klingons would have grudgingly accepted a temporary military alliance with the Federation against a much larger threat that could destroy both of them, because really they'd use it as an excuse to go get themselves ki
I'm figuring EBgames.com will get it and ship it out that same day. Usually the announced release date means it takes a day or two to actually get to stores. My honest hope is that it doesn't arrive at my home until the 23rd (two day air shipping) because the last thing I need is an excuse to skip class.
Well you gotta figure it works out either way. Those that aren't interested in the game now (to the point of having preordered it) probably won't even notice the demo, so after a few weeks of the game having been out and reviewed, they then release a demo so all the skeptics can see if it's worth their money.
Is it possible they've factored local sales tax into the charge?
I played Civ2 for years after buying it even though it had no multiplayer, so no, multiplayer isn't terribly important to the replayability of a TBS game.
I've read that 1024x768 is the minimum required. Does this also apply to windowed mode? Therein, I can't run it at, say, 1600x740 windowed? I do that with most of the games I have that actually support windowed mode so I can leave nvmonitor, nvmixer, task manager and mIRC at the bottom.
I preordered with two-day air shipping in mind so that I don't miss class when the game arrives, which I otherwise guarantee will happen if the game arrived on wednesday instead of thursday. My phone's unplugged anyways, so really all I'm gonna do is grab some snacks, lock the door, kill the lights and play 'til I pass out.
Who knows? They might release the extras (at least the "extra ship jewelry") some time after the game actually ships, like Maxis did with the SimCity 4 bonus transportation pack.
Still makes sense to preorder a game if you're anticipating its release, because chances are you show up at the store the day it's supposed to arrive and they won't sell any to you because all the copies they have are for customers that :o preordered it.
