I've got both as well (SE4Gold and GC2) and I agree with most of xuchuang's comments. While I miss the tactical combat from SE4 Gold (and having fights with potentially dozens upon dozens of ships plus fighters) I still find GC2 to be the better game with far superior AI and options (can't say i miss jump points at all). Not to mention it looks about 5000% better as well. SE5 is still in development, and I'll probably end up buying it as w

I've actually setup a batch file that deletes ALL the ship designs, and then copies over some of my "Base" ships (hulls of each size with jewlery, and my starting fast Constructor/Colonizer). That way i can have pretty ships and be able to just toss weapons/components on, based on my research that game and the situation. Just my two centicredits
Yeah. In my current game, I have my influence starbases named Babylon I, II, III, etc Mine tend to be labeled "Mind Control Array 01" etc
That was removed during Gamma and the Omega Fleet Defense got renamed Hyperion Fleet Defense. Was very confusing for me at the time And yes, it was my favorite wonder at the time. Thanks for the feedback
/bump -- would really appreciate an an swer...
That gives the Hyperion Fleet Defense (which ignores logistics for fleet formations in orbit on defense) What i'm looking for is the Hyperion Fleet Manager -- which acts as an Orbital Fleet Manager on all planets
I can't seem to find the Hyperion Fleet Manager anywhere on the tech tree, although it's in the manual and wiki -- was it removed?
Could be, i submit every score, win or loose
Is there a place where i can see descriptions of currently implemented medals and what they do? Most are descriptive enough, but what's "Woudned in Action"? (sorry if this doubleposts, my first post didn't show up in the topic listings)

Late game i upgraded about 60 ships from 0/4/0:0/0/2 to 0/40/0:1/1/12 leaving me approximately at -100,000 credits -- since it was lategame, with no production I was back into positives in three turns. It's definately quite exploitable for negligable penalties at least in the late game
and the ships wheeled about in a chaotic manner, as if they *had* to keep moving instead of standing still to fire if that was an optimal firing option. I get that too. It seems like all the races' helmsmen (helmsthings) ar
So, if it's so buggy why are unpatched versions getting 90%+ from almost every media review so far? Personally i played for 8 hours on release day after i downloaded the last part of my preload with no adverseties.
I have Civ 4 on my harddrive.. It's been lonely since the release of GC2. I actually uninstalled it on sunday so i could record something from my TV-IN -- needed the hardrrive space
A village in a space anomaly? What the frak? Link This is a poke at civilization methinks
I got mine because i was one of the first 30 or 40 people that submitted a score Still i'll take it
You can also tweak the starting techs for custom races I know My first tech i blitz to in the past has almost allways been Universal Translator -- my current custom configuration allows me to start with this, allowing me to research other tec
We can retroactively adjust scores on the metaverse. We used to do this regularly back in the Galciv I days. Once we see how different players scores work out, we can tweak them to fit the needs of the community. Smart Right now i've been cl
Not really a bug, but I noticed that quite a few people have their metaverse badges showing below their posts -- How does one bo about adding their badges? Sorry if this is a repeat post -- i tried to post this once before but i don't see it listed in any of the forums
I have seen a minor civ on two planets before... I had one minor surrender to another minor once -- could have been a similar situation.
Racial research bonuses work, but they aren't as effective as advertised. Basically, they're cut in half before being applied. Therefore, a 50% research bonus really only raises your research by 25%. In the early game, planets only generate out a few tech points per turn anyway, so even a (nominal) 50% research bonus will only show up as one extra tech point on a planet
Personally i hover around 39% during 'peacetime' but if conflict erupts, i typically jump taxes to closer to 50% to give myself some capitol to rush ships & defenses on captured planets.
Not really a problem, but I noticed that quite a few people have their metaverse badges showing below their posts -- How does one bo about adding their badges?
I have a question though, Can you fleet Troop ships to drop more troops than you can rase on 1 world at a time for instance If you have support cap of 8 4 troops in a can at 500 each = 2k in one drop Yes, yes you can ::evilgrin:: Works better with 3 hulls with 2500 troops in each one though <img src="http://images.stardock.com
