Pretty sure it's just the melee units that are moved closer - ranged units still spawn farther away.
That's true, but at least according to Brad in the video, the ranged units start just a couple tiles farther away from the melee units. It just doesn't seem quite far enough.

Another thought. In the demo, the player and AI start closer together. Much closer... I like the idea of not having to take several turns to get from one end of the battlefield to the next, effectively reducing the OP of archers and mages, but this new set up seems to go completely in the other direction, turning the ranged units into "no shot or one shot ponies" before the get hacked to pieces by the AI opponent. My suggestion to re-balance this issue, is to increase their ba
Quoting Borg999, reply 64 With all those undead, I hope they include a "turn undead" spell. Probably would work best as part of life magic. If they don't include it I'll make it.
Excellent!
apparently lots of undead monsters have been added.
Ok, thanks, I remember that. Personally, I would rather have a variety of monsters, instead of all from one class/type. With all those undead, I hope they include a "turn undead" spell. Probably would work best as part of life magic.

People under 35 have never been exposed to the "3 chances/lives and your dead" from the 80's arcade era. They've grown up with games where you just loose points when beaten, but your character/avatar never actually dies, so they just can't wrap their heads around the concept of perma-death.
Since I have disabled all victory condition options but conquest victory, I always have to resort to violence. *grins* But only AFTER I have done all the available quests and mastered the wildlands. I used to play medium maps with everything on random but sometimes I ended up with no wildlands at all. That was boring. So right now I'm playing a large map with random resources, many heroes (my sov has adventurer professi

On a related note, I built a custom sovereign and set him up as one of my AI opponents. Very early game, I encountered him, went to war, and when he surrendered, I viewed his item list. He had quite a few magic items in his possession that he couldn't have gotten so quickly.
I think Soren's amazing talents would be wasted if he was spending his time creating running balance sheets, doing revenue projections, writing contracts, negotiating distribution licenses and attending meetings. Therefore, I think it would make more sense to utilize the world's top game designer's skills in designing games.
As a person who runs balance sheets and does revenue projec

So, I settled my first city, got a hero, and started searching for a new spot, and searching, and searching. I come across three factions, all with power ratings at least double mine. It was about the first 20 turns. At that point, I just started a new game. How about you?
With the release of LH, what happens to FE? That is, can I toggle between FE and LH 'modes', or does FE become LH after purchase? I may want to play FE after purchasing LH (I might prefer a certain play style one day and another play style at a different time); will I be able to do so, or will FE as I know it become non-existent after installation of LH?
It's my understan
has it already been announced when the beta will start in march?? (beginning, middle or end of march?) I can't believe nobody has asked this question yet...! ^^
In another thread, Brad said he was planning on releasing the beta next Thursday, but will delay it another week, so around mid March.
