You put in Tab functionality! You just made my day. Thanks!

Personally I think getting resources is as if not more important than getting too many planets. Maybe this is just me, but I've found this is 100% true in 1-on-1 and 100% false in anything larger. In 1-on-1 I get rocked by my opponent if he gets a couple resources and pushes his early lead. But in a l
Just a silly little thing, but if you did it I would feel less like an idiot every time I play: could you add TAB switching functionality to the metaverse text boxes? Every time I log into the Metaverse in the game, I type in my name, hit TAB, go "doh!" and click the password box to type it in.
I just hit the fourth Campaign mission, and it appears someone at SD is a fan of my favorite game. So, do I have to research Bum Rush now?
This cracks me up every time.
The - and + keys at the end of the numbers row at the top of your keyboard works for the main map, the - and + on the numpad works for the minimap. That help?
Um, similar to Jeysie, I can't edit my empire. I get the same Conversion from string error whenever I try to do anything on the page, which looks like this: You may wish to note that I took the liberty of opening the dropdown menu under "Empire Status", but it is completely empt
If I can toss in my two cents, I find that Cultural victories are the easy ones - perhaps too easy. I've had a few games where I was trying to win by military and I accidentally won by culture inbetween wars.
That's a great idea. Thanks!
For me, they only show up if, before I post, I go to the Metaverse portion of the site, logout, and log back in. Like here, for instance. (I hope.)
There are probably more factors than just Influence ratio. Case in point: I was at war with the Terrans and had taken Earth, and Mars was now in my influence. I figured, Hey, I'll just let influence take that one for me and no transports wasted. Sucker got to 16 point something in the ratio (!) before it finally caved; I think being at war with the owner may have perturbed the citizens somewhat.
This may be related to the first problem I'm having, or it might not. I'm not sure. But for some reason, I can't edit my character or Empire from the Metaverse part of this website; whenever I try, the screen full of options comes up, but they're all nulls. The dropdown menus are empty, the Save Changes button does nothing, and if I click any of the other buttons I get an error about a string being changed to an integer. If I need to scrap my account and make a new one, that's fine, but I'm not
I use a custom race with a bunch of small bonuses (particularly in things that are hard to get bonuses to, like Luck). It makes me adaptable. I recommend you try some different layouts, see what you find yourself lacking in, and adjust as necessary. But yes, research and economy bonuses are always a good idea.
I have two problems, and I hope this is the right place to ask about them since apparently the stickied "Metaverse Help" wasn't. 1) I have a character in an Empire, as you can see here: Link However, in-game I continue to get this "not in an Empire" message: Link Is there something I'm miss
I encountered the same bug (assuming it is one). I was right next to a sprawling Arcean empire and straggling in Military, and as luck would have it I got a free Ranger with absurd stats compared to everything else in the game (something like 24/17 when everything else was max of 8/3). Then next turn, I got another. And another. And another... I won that game by military <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/BigSmile.gif" bord
I just had the same problem, and I didn't use any cheat codes. I thought of something. dajaxx, did you have Tech Research set higher than average? I think that might be what set it off, because that could skew the speed with which one wins. The follow-up question, of course, is How was I su
I have two problems. 1) My empire statistics in-game continue to read "Not in an Empire" even though I created one. I'm not sure why this is. I've refreshed about a bazillion times. 2) I just submitted a game, and the Metaverse says "cheat codes detected". I have no idea what the cheat codes are, nor how to activate them. Could something else be causing this?
If the tech tree can be printed off, doesn't that defeat the purpose of including it with the Collector's Edition? Hence, I would guess "no".
If you order here you get the Tech Tree map too... plus you can preload and download the game so you can play it while you wait for your CDs to arrive in the mail. In short, ordering it here is the best way of going about it. You get the maximum amount of extras and support that way.
I place no guarantees on this advice; but, I just did it and so far, no problems. run "regedit", go under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Stardock/Drengin.net/GalCiv2", and change the "path" value. Again, no guarantees offered on this. Do so at your own risk.
I preordered on the 8th, but recieved no serial number. In fact, when I put my info in the "get me my serial" form, I got an email back saying I'd never purchased anything. When I ordered, I recieved an email saying, among other things, ----------------- Purchase Summary ----------------- Order ID: VKMN1A0BE37C-0208062148 Date: 2/8/2006 Item: SSD-SDS-W142 Description: Galactic Civilizations II [CD] (Pre-Order) Product Price: $44.95 Quantity: 1 <b
Go Humans! I love a good scifi story that puts Humans in a good (but realistic) light. Interesting fact: many scientists believe that the reason Neanderthals fell to Homo Sapiens so quickly is linked to the fact that Neanderthals appear to have had little or no sense of deceit. They possibly saw things only as they were, with almost no concept of 'what could be' or 'what is not,' much like people affected by autism. This could be why we've yet to find
If you want a slightly different Utopia, get "Starship Troopers" by Robert A. Heinlein. I'm a 30-second bomb! 29... 28...
All this debate on the UN reminds me of a quote. "I'm not going to sit here and argue with you. What do you think this is, the Internet?"
I think spiceant is referring to the multiple mentions in the developer journals about a "planetary starbase" which was supposed to become a planet after being built. As far as I can tell, spiceant, that function will not be available in the game, at least as an initial release. Nor will the "Terror Star" starbase, which is also mentioned. Neither appear in the PDF manual; only military, influence, and economic starbases (along with resource mining bas
