Anyone getting random reboots? That's happening to my brother.

Alright, I've had this problem as well, but I have a suggestion for a possible work around. If you're using Windows Media Connect (I use it to share files with my Xbox 360) exit out of it before starting up GalCiv2. This mouse bug has yet to happen to me (knock on wood) if I do this before playing. My system is: AMD Athlon64 3400+ Geforce 6600GT AGP 1GB RAM SB Live! sound card Kensington wire
You can download the Collector's Edition stuff from the Downloads section right here on the GalCiv2 website. It's just an .exe file. I did it last night. I have no idea where it puts the theme though.
Ha ha, no comments because everyone is playing. Great job on the game. I'm really enjoying it so far. It evokes all the find memories I have of playing turn based strategy games as a kid. Also, I LOVE the text. It's actually worth reading which is a great change of pace for the genre.
Torturous? Heh...me and a buddy of mine frequently play hotseat Alpha Centauri and MoO 2. To avoid the moving-about procedure described above we implement a cunning system of 2 chairs and 2 sets of mouse\keyboard Devilishly clever! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Yum.gif
Damn! I'm still at work.
What is... hotseat? You just take turns playing on the same computer. You take your turn, get up, your buddy sits down and takes his turn, he gets up, you sit down and take your turn...ad infinitum. Personally I think this would be torturous, especially early on, but to each his own.</fon
For those expecting to walk into EB and see the game on the shelf, make sure you call first. EB and GS are really bad about getting PC titles in, even on marquee games like CivIV. I preordered Civ4 from EB and when I picked it up the guy told they only ordered enough to fill preorders. They had zero copies to go out on the shelves. GalCiv2, is not nearly as mainstream as Civ4 was and I really doubt that many EBs ordered more than a few copies, if t

At least we all can wait together...sort of. I love pre-release board hype. It really is the best time to hang around message boards. Everyone is all jazzed like it's Christmas morning and we're waiting for our parents to wake up so we can open our presents.
The snarky computer text is my favorite part of the screenshots so far. I mean, yeah the game is beautiful, but the dialog is awesome.
I went with the option of pre-ordering the CD directly from Stardock. That way I get to download the game right away AND I get the box, manual, tech tree, etc. Stardock really hit a home run with that distribution model as far as I'm concerned. As for the digital distribution vs. bricks n' mortar, I gotta say I'd much rather download a game than have to go to the store to buy it, especially if I'm really anticipating it. With digital dist
Just gonna add my name to the long list of "same here"s. I'm trying to use a temporary serial # though, so that might be it.
I just wanna add that my serial doesn't work for Metaverse character creation either, but I think that's because mine is a temporary serial # to be used until I get my copy of the game in the mail. Since I'm in Royal Oak, MI (near enough to Plymouth) I expect that not to take very long.
I can't wait. Well...I guess I can because I have to. I won't get home from work until 4:15 or so anyway, so even if it was available now I couldn't play. I'm so pumped for this game I cancelled my EB preorder and just preordered the CD from Stardock so I could play the game right away today.
We have done the impossible and that makes us mighty. Edit: Hrm...I can't create a character. I have a preload serial#, but it is a temporary one because I ordered the CD version. The character creator thing must only accept non-temp serial numbers.
Remember to use the token system if ordering from Stardock! Save yourself $5 Token system?
Another excellent read. I'm glad you won this time!
Excellent read. I don't think I've ever played a turn based strategy game until I was utterly defeated. Usually I can tell when it's coming and I just restart. Somehow playing another couple hours to watch my inevitable doom unfold just doesn't seem like a good use of my limited game time, ya know? Still, I loved reading about all of your efforts to salvage the Altarian Doom Squad. Sounds like the computer AI is simply brutal.
I wonder if you could design a ship that looked like a Death Star and then just name it that. Load it up with lots of ground based weaponry and just pummel planets, ya know?
This video is awesome. The perfect thing to ease the pain of waiting another week for GalCvi2. I definitely look forward to more before the game itself launches.
I ended up preordering from EBGames, so I'll get my Collector's Edition for sure.
Thanks for the responses. I'll skip preordering from Amazon.
Does anyone know if preorders from Amazon.com will be filled with Collector's Edition boxes? Amazon's site makes no mention of this and customer service didn't know.
