I am a little surprised at the poll results. I've been a proponent of tactical battles since early on and was always forced to just shake my head at how vigorously the "No Tak Kombat Klub" fought the idea of this option. Their arguments were usually so forceful [and unreasonable] that I thought there must be a whole herd of them. The poll makes them look like a small, loud-mouthed minority. A couple of weeks ago, in another thread, Stardock stated that there would be no tactical comb

It saddens me to read that there will not be any option for tactical combat in Galciv2. The No Tak Kombat Klub wins. I hope that Stardock has taken notice of the large numbers of people on these forums who have expressed the strong desire for tactical combat. I suppose I can wait for Galciv3 where hopefully tactical combat will be implemented. I know that I will be purchasing Sword of the Stars when released [in August now I believe]. Not sure if I will buy into the Space Empire

It does sound like Brad has some ideas for possibly implementing tactical combat. I am glad to know this and would gladly pay $20 for an expansion containing this. From the posts on this thread I dare say many others would also like it. As one poster put it "tactical combat would add fun"! To those who belong to the No Tak Kombat Klub [and everyone knows who you are], if this idea is ever implemented in an expansion feel free not to purchase it. The thousands of us personally contr

1. Options for tactical space and ground combat. 2. Individual hulls for each race. 3. more hulls and jewelry. 4. More diplomatic options [greater variety of treaties, threats, requests, etc.] 5. Perhaps something other than the all or nothing tech trading we have now. Maybe no trading of military techs. 6. More options for the minor races: setting 1. Minors act just like they do now. setting 2. Minors somewhat more aggressive in their actions and colonization [colonize a

Hey Frookie! How ya doin'? Glad to see that you're still promoting some form of tactical combat [along with the OP]. I see these types of posts every couple of days and can only conclude that there is a demand for this OPTION, despite what the No Tak Kombat Klub wants everyone to believe. I know I still would like to see it. It always makes me laugh to see the posts of some of the people on this forum who are so cock-sure why such-and-such can't or won't be done. Like they have a

I also would not pay $20 for a multi-player expansion. As one previous poster surmised I would have no one to play it with. My previous experience with public/anonymous games has always been negative. Yet, I understand those who have friends to play with might find GalCiv 2 quite fun to play on-line. What to do? Like several of the previous posters, I would pay $20 for an expansion that included controllable space battles and ground combat; and I know that these features would take up

I also have been surprised by many of the posts here [spelling and coherance come to mind]. I'm 45 by the way.

I'm playing my first 1.1 game with no tech trading and I'm a little bit torn. In principal I like this option; it always bothered me before that the races could be so similiar militarily, obviously through tech trading. But with tech trading off, there's little reason to interract with the AI so I feel that I'm missing out on a lot of the diplomatic side of the game. Maybe there should be an option of no trading of military techs?

Alienrider and Rygel XVI: It's a pleasure to debate people who present their opinions as well as the two of you do. You both have argued your point effectively and I would guess that if there are any fence riders viewing this thread that you may have won some of them over. I would like to think that Frookie and I have also won over a few. As most everyone who posts on these forums [or any forums for that matter] wants something enhanced, cha

Alienrider: You may be right. The majority of Galciv2 players may like the game as is and they don't post on the forums because they're just too busy playing the game. But... maybe some of them are a little bit intimidated by the whole posting/forum concept; I know I used to be. Perhaps others feel that their one voice won't make a difference; a version of voter apathy. For years I've lurked on various forums, reading what others had to say but not tak

After reading Oldstatesman's post, it makes me wonder if we are all thinking of different kinds of tactical combats? I certainly don't want FPS or anything that involves twitching fingers. I'm thinking more along the lines of BotF's combat but with more options [and of course done better]. Maybe a few formations, each giving a positive [or a negative] depending on what ships in what formation your facing. I'd like to be able to direct my s

1. Tactical combat 2. Galcivopedia 3.Several new races 4. Existing minor races to have a bigger role. A little planetary expansion, using the techs they have better. 5. Each race to have their own unique hulls including the minors 6. More ship jewelry 7. Ship designer a little more user friendly 8. A few more diplomatic options

Frookie: I'm still here and still pushing for the option of tactical combat. Have you wondered why the naysayers so oppose this? I have. Some say this is only a "strategy game" and there's no intent for combat or war even though every single Galciv2 game I've played has ended in war. Others for some reason seem to want to play as many games as possible in the shortest period of time and they think that tactical combat will slow them down. I, on the oth

Skelton42: My statement about the simplicity of Moo2 and BotF's tactical engine implied the ease that I think Stardock could outdo them. This, of course, would be what I would hope for. This added element, along with the ever increasing number of mods, would give this game an infinately longer play life for me and I daresay, many others. Will this ever happen? If you believe the strong opinions of some on this thread [and indeed, on the overall forum]

"But whatever, let me copy paste my reply and wait for tomorrow's tactical combat thread. Save myself some typing." This is the kind of drivel I expect from a member of the "no tak Kombat Klub". At least Rygel XVI presents an intelligent argument supporting his opinion, even though I don't agree with it. I will contiue to hope, along with many others, that someday Stardock will develop an expansion that includes the "option" of tactical combat.

I'd like the option of being both the Emperor and the Kirk of my civilization. I disagree with the opinion that Galciv2 is not a war game . In 95% of my games another civilization [or two or three] declare war on me and I spend the rest of the game fighting them off. In the remaining 5% I declare war on somebody. What fun! Only thing that would make it better? Being able to control how my ships fight the enemy .... with tactical combat.

to Rygel XVI: I appreciate the mature nature of your post and the conclusions it contains. let me repond: a] Moo3 was a very poor game IMO. Inevitably posters bring up its predecessor Moo2 when discussing Galciv2 and hopes for future expansions and improvements. Moo2 is a ten year old game so there hasn't been much worth playing for quite awhile. I did play the bejesus out of Birth of the Federation when it came out but that was seven years ago. BTW bo

I'm willing to bet that a significantly larger number of people would like the option of tactical combat [with, of course the ability to auto resolve or watch the existing combat viewer] than the number of people who want multi-player [always a completely unsatisfying experience for me and anyone I've ever talked to] or the number of people who want easier/better tools for modding. The tactical combat fans just aren't getting their message out. Or is

Tactical combat doesn't have to be a dead horse if the thousands of Galciv2 players who want it would make their voices heard. The 5% of players who want multi-player have done a good job of communicating their wishes to the Stardock team. And the 2% of players who have the ability to make community-useable mods have been vocal enough to get Stardocks attention. Come on tactical combat fans [probably around 50% of Galciv2 purchasers] make some noise a
