er...orbital control should be standard on your front line planets. It's not "powerful" per say but it just allows all the ships in orbit to be considered a fleet. If you have a military base in range it will boost ships in orbit as well. Before ranting about ANYTHING and wasting peoples time please read the manual and understand how the game works first. No one would appreciate: OMGzoRS Lik3 my 2 atck 2defns fl33tsz0rs c4nt's bustz0rs da sh

Yes, petty whining is pretty silly. It is rampant on most game forums. I mean there are some real gems out there, not just here. Most sites do something to clean up whiny absurdities though. Part of the issue is forum organization. Having moderators and appropriate sections like the "I'm a spoiled geeky teen and want to whine like a banshee folder" coupled with "anal-retentive complaints for those who have difficulty accepting fantasy folde

Moo2 is good. It's a different game. Moo2 *gasp* has terrible weaknesses....yes yes I know blasphame, but it's true. Civ management was painfully annoying and cumbersom. Civ4 and Galciv2 and games before it , in factMost modern tbs games have overcome those weaknesses. Someday someone might make a moo2 clone since that seems to be what people want. A moo2 that runs on xp or vista with prettied up graphics. Until then either play moo2 for dos and enjoy

Don't you love it when you design a game with your vision, then some smart ass thinks he knows better and suggests the removal of several keystone aspects of the design? as in it would seriously compromise the design and vision of the game. Hey...I find space annoying...could we remove that part of the game please...oh and I hate aliens...remove that too....oh why your at it go ahead and remove enconomy because that just isn't fun. Isn't it interesting that any software that somebody is using at the time, that fails to function or work as expected, is considered the buggiest software they ever used? Tommorow they will play a different game and post on it's forums, and say how incredibly buggy it is, and how ALL their software runs great.....yeah..right. I did techsupport for Microsoft windows for two years. I can't count how many times a problem was caused by the user.

Yep, if your system is rebooting like that it could be because of heat but more likely it's a driver issue. Your vid driver, mobo drivers or your sound driver can cause this. Sometimes the latest nvidia driver isn't always the best. The 8x.xx series drivers have some issues with some graphics functions of some software. It can sometimes help to roll back to the 77.77 drivers as they were more stable overall, but you will lose performance with some newe

Minor civs will gain worlds through conquest, influence and through gifts or sales. Few of the minor civs though attempt any kind of conquest. Dark Yor and Snathi can be dangerous if allowed to be. Carinoids will use thier "special abilities" to steal tech and sell it for worlds. Also don't forget random events can change things up as well. It would be nice as a game OPTION to have minors colonize their home system at the least or their home

Yes Starforce definately alienates the informed. Some publishers currently won't use it due to it's bad stigma. Others fully embrace it and other drm simply because they believe it will protect their sales numbers for the first few weeks a game is out on the shelves and/or believe it will prevent the customer from installing on multiple machines in their home. The problem is that drm is about getting you to pay more. Its about trying to get more money

Well when a reviewer writes like that they are: 1. freelance or looking to loose their job 2. Probably didn't play the game or play it very much (30min) and is pulling a review out of his *ss 3. basing the game off of press material because he couldn't be bothered to do a proper review. 4. Has baised opinion due to some loyalty/ political /bribing issue 5. Following policy that games that have not paid for advertisement o

I just finished a game where one of the other races triggered a precursor artifact that caused all non-colonized worlds to gain 8 class points. Thus all the dead rocks of the universe became class 8 worlds....pretty cool eh? Moral is important. low morale will work against you if there is alot of enemy influence on your planet. low moral may also cause the planet to go independent among other things.

To be nice allow your friend to play on your computer. He is either curious and wants to see if he will spend money on it... Or he is looking to take advantage and simply have another pirated game to add to his collection. I say this because you are college students with limited money. If you can get something for free you most likely will as a college student. Your friend will then take the next 50$ of game money he

I really don't get this thread. 1. ships are capped at 15 sensor range. Thats being able to see one sector. This was no different than the spy drones in galciv 1. It is definately not over powered as big sensor ships are expensive to build and maintain (well if you use survey modules instead of sensors as far as I know) The enemy will kill them, but they are low priority. They could be however made a higher priority, but that would lead to

Actually culture bombing is used by the ai as well. I'm in a game with a large map and all races. The thalans are currently the most powerful civ. They have massive influence. They are building influence bases and are going for an influence victory. of course I will have to end that.

Yep buying stuff is great... you can buy peace or you can pay a race to go to war for you (korx) great stuff, you can buy just about anything if you have the cash. speaking of DS9, that show was just sooo good. It gave the best look at the startrek universe better than any of the other shows and it had great long reaching story arcs. To bad Berman got rid of the guy in charge of ds9 and ruined voyager and enterprise. Loved the hard reality o

Looks great. Good eye catching design. Wait a second.....where is the mandatory scantily clad sci-fi chick with gun? How do you plan to attract all the 13year olds of the world? Are you trying to go against the grain ...you apostate!? The World Organization of Evil Marketing Monkeys is not someone you want to mess with.
