Gameplay is probably the biggest online game company in the UK and at this moment gal civ 2 is in the top ten best sellers list; just to point out that the game wasn't even in the top 20 pre-orders list a week or two ago but suddenly it shoots up to that amazing position!(it seems word of mouth is a very big thing) Will be worth watching to see if they get any higher after pc gamer in the UK give it an ace review (which I am certain they will!): http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/ (Ch

Well done stardock you utterly deserve it; gamespot and pc gamer are the two big reviews for pc games and you got one ace so far. I hope this persuades you to do seveal exapansions over the next few years; I for one will buy anything you make. I got battle for middle earth 2 yesterday and as great as it is, on the same day I bought it I still went back to gal civ 2 for an hour!

Wow thankyou for such an excellant response, its all perfectly clear now! I think I've seen that message for over a year now and finally I know what it means! Thanks again

Hi this question is for all those tech poeple out there who understand computers alot more than I ever will. It has nothing whatsoever to do with gal civ 2 but the forums here seem to be abuzz with people who know this stuff: I keep getting the message from my virus scanner that 'someone is trying to scan your ports'. What does that mean and is it bad?

Hi just a quick thanks to stardock and credit to them for getting me the boxed version here so dam fast; I have been playing the download since it came out and because of this I did not expect you guys to get it to me for at least 2-3 weeks. I live in the UK and I have to say it took only one week to get here which at the postage price is superb value (I have paid other companies double postage and it took at least 2 weeks to arrive from the USA). The fact stardock knew I a

Yep it is often insanely hard to get races to go to war (I once offered a race about 7 techs all my money and ships and all the worlds in my empire to attack someone else just to see what they would say......'not on your life' came the response). On the other hand if you somehow did manage it, this seems like a pretty fair tactic to me. I find it very hard to think my actions are 'unfair' to the computer when four of them are attacking me at the same time! <img src="http://images.sta

I noticed similar things in my game at that difficulty, now I'm playing on one of the higher ends my experiance is very differant. Where as before I was also light years ahead now I struggle to keep 8th place in a galaxy that for the most part hates me (currently 4 races have declared war on me and I am the arceans would you believe!!) transports are almost never left unguarded and the AI is smart in its attack patterns. The korx knowing they could not beat me alone paid off the yor t

I can't seem to upload an image correctly even though its in JPEG format, it keeps saying its done it successfully but theres nothing in the potrait space but a white box with a red cross in it (like the one in my potrait above). Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

I saw that message a few times ('we know what your doing') but the AI never really seemed to use this information....I was able to take drath by doing a thing like I outlined above, and thalia......and New iconia.....as long as it was neutral when I moved in the AI was unable to manage a good counter quickly. The only exception was when they were slightly hostile or declared war on me (then they were ALOT tougher). I was under the impression that the only differance between inte

LOL well I have only played at intelligent, it never occured to me this may only be a feature at higher levels! Can anyone else confirm this Dam you stardock the only improvement I could think of for your amazing title and you already put it in!! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc

As someone who loves the Korx and what they represent I have to say I like the idea that if the Korx have the money they can find someone to sell them anything within the week. I can believe that a race with so many diplomatic and trade ties throughout all the galaxy could easily bend a few arms given a week to do so. I am inclined to agree that most races would not be able to do this however and perhaps this is best represented by the fact that the Korx can buy it now FAR more frequ

An idea (I don't know if this is a little or large tweak so I posted here) The Proposal Give the option for the AI to react to potentially hostile or neutral race build-up near their worlds. First by adding a race reduction to relations (much like a weak military makes a race more inclined to dislike you) and secondly by issuing a warning. Why it would be useful a) Give the impression of a more life-like AI that actually gets ticked off with people wh

Hi i have a small problem with alliances as in I can't seem to get any. I am playing as the Korx and am the most powerful nation by far, the game is on an average difficulty and I have alliance victory turned on. I have a massive diplomacy skill, the highest of the races and i have been friendly with the Yor for years. I have given them many techs for free and most of their trade comes from me. I have helped them in wars, given them money...I even taught them how to build bigger shi

Having played gal civ 1 my first comment is.....wow....... An excellat improvement in every possable department. Visually this game is now lovely to behold; the interface is crisp and clear, the computer AI is exceptional; as someone who loved MO2 I can say that Gal Civ 2 for me is now the definative 4X space game. I played through the sandbox mode as two vastly differant races and found it to be a very differant experiance so far. On a percentage scale this would get 89% i

I like the idea of fleet commanders each with a backstory; this game is better without tactical combat I think but theres no reason not to add famous characters to fleets. I think even considering war on an empire scale, it would be very cool to have such a thing. Just think how much more you would care about a certain fleet if your commader of a dozen successful battles is serving as commander.... Stardock also metion they wish for this game to be far more background orien

Think they said in the chat it was a balancing thing; but I also detected a slight feeling they may do it in the future.

I agree its good they focused on single player first; make a really solid core and then try expanding it. Games like this can be fun in mulitplayer but they take a very long time especially if you have several equal skilled players. As someone who can't play games as much as I like single play is far more important to me in a long game like this. Take the example of one of the few civ 4 online matches I've played; I was Ghandi and india as usual and as usual eveyone for some reason wa

Wow that was alot of fun to read! I can imagine hundreds of people reading the bit where Bill dies..... BILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!! Or maybe not. Ahem. Seriously though doing such a good journal entry so close to release is borderline sadism; is there anyone here who doesn't want this title more now than they did before they looked at this!

Hi all a quick question this one; From what I've seen in the articles and journals the guys said they have written dialogue not only for each race but also unique text for their speech to any other given race. (if that makes sense lol =P) So do they mean for example that the drengin will say totally differant things to a torian than they would to say the Yor? What I've seen leads me to think yes but then I think that would be impossable for them to do right??? LO

Hi this is my first post on here but I have been reading everyones comments for a few months now and I played gal civ 1 when it came out. I didn't take part in the beta as I didn't wish to spoil seeing the perfected final product Heres my point..... I think in the last few years I have not been excited about any game release, which is a bit sad really; it seems all companie
