I really don't post often here, but I just felt the urge to log in and express my feelings: Awesome! I pre-purchased War of Magic before its release and stuck by it, even though I was hugely disappointed with the game I always had confidence that Stardock would do whatever it can to make it up to their fans. And considering that I got FE and now this expansion for free (!) does make it more than up. In my ~25 years of gaming I have never witnessed a company stick up

Hey, I got the exact same issue. Downloaded the installer, but it always tells me "file is corrupt" during extraction. I deleted the installer and redownloaded it, but still the same issue. Any detailed help would be mush appreciated... Thanks.
Quoting GCFL, reply 3I personally think the problem is not in the quality of the code (in most cases) but rather the huge variances in hardware that simply did not exist 10 or 15 years ago. Then modern devs or software companies need to increase the size of their QA department, number of testers, or add to whoever it is that is responsible for covering this aspect of quality ... which they don't do because they
The point is people need others to think they made the best choice. They can't just consider a game "the best" if not everybody thinks so, they need others to agree with them. The same kind of discussion happened when Aion came. I was a fan of Lineage II and just thought it was a great improvement and was just happy with it. But there was that Aion vs WoW crap. Because those who chose WoW over Aion couldn't just play WoW, they needed to prove thei

So glad you were here to inform us that the game is in perfect order and the multiplayer works outta the box. Chapter II, pt. 1 – “It’s paradise, sir.” The first two months of the voyage were not as exciting as the press at home made the people believe. The Chamberlain’s route lead her through two star systems, where CC hoped for, well, something. What they actually found in the Amber and Brindle systems were giant versions of Luna, Earths satellite. The gravity of those things was so intense that the landing robot couldn’t really compensate. They pulled the already heavily damaged machine from

Chapter I – A small step for me… He never thought that he would feel at home here. The humming of the engines, the constant chatter of his crew, the clicks and clacks of the computer terminals they use – he thought he would miss the hydroponic gardens of Osaka, his refuge from the megacity domes of Japan. But in its own way, this place was just as peaceful. You just had to see it. And now his mission was to take this gigantic piece of technology into the silent depths of

The story so far… 2020 – Oil reserves on Earth are almost spent due to critical mismanagement and wastefulness by most superpower nations. Most of these superpowers fight wars against the few countries which are still controlling the last remaining fossil fuel sources. 2034 - 2042 – Most small to middle sized nations lose independence to war mongering countries. The European Union officially declares political unity, establishing a single central government in Brussels, while

Good morning chaps and chapettes, This here will be my first AAR ever, so I'm quite anxious to learn what you guys think. It's about us, the silly willy humans. Yes, I know, there are like 1.3 million Terran AARs online already, however I find it easier to write from a perspective I can quickly relate to - and since it's my first time I ask you to be gentle... :D Should you be tired of another pink skin AAR, I suggest

I like your idea, it could add to the general atmosphere of the game - you could really create a "home" for your custom race, and not some randomly generated star system. However, if your idea was meant for Twilight of the Arnor I believe there is already a thread for this. You might wish to use this one instead if you have more ideas, creating new topics just spams the forum and is unnecessary. Regarding your spelling, yes, I guess you do have some problems with that. However,

This is the first time ever I read such a long AAR entirely - my full respect! Your storytelling is truly entertaining, please keep it up!

Evasion: Nice idea, it would most likely bring more depth into combat - or complicate it unnecessarily, hard to decide on this one. Ground forces: 100% agreed, I'd love to see real ground forces. I also would like to see that you can "capture" enemy population and assimilate them into your culture (or enslave them if you're evil). It would be even funnier if the game would notice the different population and show them somewhere - like I have 12 billion Drengi and 4 billion Tor

Hey folks, my game *always* crashes after every 3D battle sequence - you see the ships fighting it out, then pops up the Victory / Defeat screen and once I click okay, the game crashes with the famous windows "This program caused an exception." error message. It doesn't matter what ships I use it seems. This started happening after I updated my version of the game to 1.59 with SDC. Here's the debug.err from my last game, any help is much, much appreceated as I start to shiver due to the

Regardless, since there seem to be a number of people that don't like the new system the easiest solution is to just let you turn it off and ignore it. I guess I'm one of those people. I really love DA, the improvements made GC2 even more addictive than it was already... but the whole espionage system is just a useless micromanagement part that I really could live without... I hope the devs add a "turn off" check box in on

Well, yea, umm... don't want to be the bad guy here, but you sure you want to name a character of the game "Lok'tar"? That is actually taken from the Warcraft series by Blizzard, the orcs use that term as a greeting... no idea if Blizzard copyrights stuff like that but since they are big and greedy and full of money I thought I'd mention that... I think if that is indeed copyrighted they might w

Sure can - BUT! You need to edit your system registry though, or stardock won't recognize your installation anymore and asks you do download it again (thus you won't get any updates via stardock and maybe patch installers). Do the following: 1) Click Start 2) Click Run 3) Enter "Regedit" and press OK 4) Follow the tree this way: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> STARDOCK -> Drengin.net -> GalCiv2 5)

I'm using the second one, the one that was mailed to me after the pre-ordering. I have no box though - but since you pre-ordered, you should be fine with the second stuff, since that SN should enable you to download the extra goodies.

Hey guys, your Inspiron 9300 has got a Intel Centrino CPU (Pentium M) by default and that should be a dual core processor. Now I can't promise that this will work, but you might wanna try it out: 1) Run the game 2) Hit CTRL+ALT+DEL in your keyboard (this will open the Windows Task Manager) 3) Select the "Processes" tab 4) Look for the "GalCiv2.exe" 5) Right click and select "Set affinity" (roughly translated, I

Heya, In Stardock Central, you'll see "Registration Info" in the lower right. Click that with your left mouse button. I totally agree to this. A sub forum or something like that would be great. I was actualy thinking about creating a small website where people could upload stories, but I guess a solution from Stardock would be even better (besides, I have no huge web skillz0rz).

How about the opposite of alliance--how do you request the surrender of an AI opponent? I just see "surrender" as a type of trade offer, which really means "I surrender". There isn't a surrender demand that I can find. You can't <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" b
